This place had very good food. The service was good. The place is now closed. The place was replaced by a other good Chinese place.

Harbor View is no longer here. China Villa is. Stanley has decided to retire for medical reasons.

Beware! This restaurant has been bought over and changed to China Villa. Their menu is NOTTHESAME nor is the price. I wasn’t let known this till after I ordered a take out for my lunch over the phone there. I order a veggie combo with shrimp, beef, and chicken and when I got there they gave me a fried rice combination with no veggies, of course. Also, they charge a «pre-tip» on top of your price and this was a to go order. I’ve never heard of this before. The staff isn’t very professional or organized. Took them forever to make change for the poor old guy in from of me. Quality of my fried rice is mediocre, a little on the wet side for fried rice and not a lot of the meat I was hoping for. I might not come back to this place for a long time unless I’m desperately craving for Chinese food. You have been informed.

2nd the BEWARE I am frustrated at what appears to be false or misleading advertising by the new restaurant«China Villa.» Although the service at Harbor View has been spotty, I always felt that the quality of the food justified it. Having read signs saying«Closed for re-modeling, will reopen in 2 weeks» up for almost 2 months(or so it seemed), I was excited when I called expecting a recorded message and was pleasantly suprised. To my recollection, the restaurant employee who answered identified the business as «Harbor View.» I placed my order happily and went in to pick it up. After seeing the new and different décor, I was willing to give it a try. There was another patron who claimed that the food was«supposedly» better than before. WRONG! Harbor View used to prepare their Szechwan Chicken in a unique manner different that typical Chinese Restaurants that supply boatloads of fried chicken pieces to coat in all of their various sauces. They do not do this any more and their Szechwan tasted worse than imitation Panda Express Another staple was the pot stickers. New recipe sucked and felt like an oversized dough pastry underfilled with pork and cabbage and no seasoning– strike 2 The final straw was the hot and watery soup, formerly known as «Hot and Sour» soup. Harbor View wasn’t always good with the service, and sometimes the food took a long time, but it was tasty! Boo to the new ownership. Unless they can track down the old chef’s and recipes, I am not optimistic about this place sticking around for a long time since I wont overpay for poor quality food.

Stars are only for sadness because there would be more if the restaurant wasn’t gone. I’m very sad to see yet another business fixture at «The Landing» suddenly go «pouf.» I know that the real diehards go to Oakland’s Chinatown for their«authentic» Chinese food fix, but their lunchtime specials here became a good fix for me and as long as I specified«low oil, extra garlic and extra spicy,» the food worked out okay. I will miss many of the folks working here. They are very nice people.

The lunch specials here are truly a great bargain. For $ 7, you get the soup of the day, a salad, and the main entrée of your selection. They also included the house tea which is great considering other restaurants charge for the house tea. I got the basil chicken while my friend order the mongolian beef. The mongolian beef is good in small portions but I would not necessarily eat the portion that they gave us. Fortunately, I ordered the basil chicken which was okay. It was literally basil, chicken, and zucchini. Also, the meat was paired with fried rice, but the fried rice was also very basic: scrambled egg and rice. I think the meal was decent considering the amount of food you receive for the price, but I wouldn’t say that this was traditional Chinese food.

Been coming for years. Love love love the lunch specials. Sweet & Sour Chicken is like a reward for me! Super fast service and good prices. Table for 2 or 20 they can handle it and do it so well!

Came here today for lunch with my coworkers and enjoyed a nice meal with a great view of Harbor bay(hence…the restaurant name)! I had the Mongolian chicken lunch special with salad(good!), hot and sour soup and fried rice. The chicken was tasty but the fried rice was a bit bland though… plain white rice would have been fine. Loved the chinese chicken salad before my meal also. Also have recently tried the chicken and beef chow fun(gravy style) — also satisfying. Service here was friendly and fast and the prices were reasonable for lunch. This place is great for a date or nice lunch– clean and nice view. Definitely wouldn’t mind returning again for another lunch.

The other day I was in Alemeda and looking for some night time food. The food was good as far as Chinese cuisine goes. I had the vegetarian egg rolls and fried won tons. They were tasty, but no exceptional. My main course was the Szechwan calamari. It was good. The calamari was not too tough, but the sauce was too sweet. I must say the service was simply excellent. Overall, I would recommend it.

This place was ok, can’t say it was great or horrible. I’d put it at 2.7 stars so rounding up puts it at 3. The food was fine, but very average in my opinion. The one thing I did like was how clean it was compared to most Chinese Restaurants. The service was fine too. The thing that irritated me was the portion sizes for the price. As someone who values bang for buck, I didn’t like the size of a few dishes, and felt kind of ripped of with the price that was there. It’s a good place to go with your family and if you’re not picky on prices and size though. Food quality and atmosphere is fine.

Came here with a few friends for lunch based on a suggestion. And for a chinese restaurant, it was pretty good! Their lunch specials had a good selection and was decently priced. Also worth mentioning the awesome lake front view. I ended up ordering their Basil fish lunch special. To start off, their lunch special came with a cup of soup which was a Hot and Sour soup. This might sound weird, but it had a funky smell. I have had tons of Hot and Sour soup, its my favorite chinese soup, and this one had a very funky smell. One that wasn’t too pleasant, but hey, I live on the dangerous side of life so I still ate it. Glad I did because it tasted way better then it smelled. Haha. As for the Basil Fish, it was delicious. It looked very fresh and that dish definitely smelled a whole lot better. =) The Fish tasted fresh, and it had a slightly crunchy caramelized coating that was really good along with the sauce. As for the food, I really don’t have anything negative to say. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed their food at our table. A few things worth mentioning, the location really sucks because unless you are with someone who has been there before, you will not be able to find it because it is at the back of the plaza. Also, the ambiance of the place inside is really outdated. Yeah, it is a chinese place, haha, and I don’t really expect much, but the place looks like a really out dated cabin. This place is definitely worth a try for yourself… just don’t smell the Hot and Sour soup!!! =P

Came here with the family this past weekend for a dinner. My mom made a reservation(she said it gets packed) but when we walked in, it was still pretty mellow. Friendly service and they were always smiling and willing to get whatever the family wanted and needed. We ordered a lot — but they were all delicious. I did noticed that their BBQ fried rice tasted better than the other Chinese restaurants in the island. I might have a new place to get my to gos! For the price + food + service = definitely a must if the Park St. area gets too busy or crowded.

Harbor View is few minutes away from my house. So, it’s convenient. I recommend the Prawns & Honey Walnuts, Assorted Chow Mein, Assorted Fried Rice, Crab Rangoon, Sweet & Sour Pork, and Mongolian Beef.

I haven’t been back to this place for awhile, so today I decided to give them a try. It looks like they’ve changed owner. I don’t recognize the ppl. work here. I ordered the pan fried beef noodle. OMG! It’s extremely salty. I ended up tossing my lunch away when I’m back to the office. I’m grumpy now… wasted $ 9& a drive to pick up the food. SUCK! Never going to come back. I want to give this restaurant zero star for the food and 1 star for the prepacked fortune cook, it’s not salty at all. Ingredients in my pan fried noodle: overcooked cabbage, celery, bean sprouts and onion & maybe 10 small & thin pieces of beef & of course too much salt. It’s horrible!

Checked this place out during lunch with a few folks from the office: — Service was good(the hostess didn’t notice us for a while-which was annoying). This is why I gave this place three stars rather than four. — This restaurant is VERY clean — The numerous glass windows give patrons a beautiful view of the Harbor Bay Isle — Once we placed our orders, the staff was very aware of our needs and insured our water and tea never ran out — Outdoor seating is available on the patio/deck for folks who want to experience the awesome view(bonus!) — From the lunch special, I had the Garlic Shrimp. It was great… give it a try if you decide to check this place out In short, I am most definitely recommending this place to those who would like to experience a beautiful view of Harbor Bay while enjoying delicious food. If you are a guy, don’t be a schmuck like me by going with co-workers; this is a great place to take a date… so…guys…take your lady here so that she can enjoy both the view and the overall romance experience by the harbor.

I went here for lunch one day. It was a good day for lunch that day. I had the basil chicken and zucchini all the way. I was doing it Dr. Seuss-style there for a little bit. So let me see, I really enjoyed my meal at this restaurant. The ingredients tasted fresh. The soup was savory. The chicken salad was, for lack of a better or more up-to-date expression, the bomb. Haha. Omg, I can’t believe I just Unilocaled that. But it was. I’m not the biggest fan of of rice, but I liked it here. And by the time that my entrée arrived, I was already quite full. The proportions were ginormous! Even with the generous portions, quality was still above quantity. And I had a delicious little meal for dinner that night too. ;) Besides the service being up to par, and the food being delicious, the view is exceptional. After my meal, I took a quick peak over the rails outside and saw jellyfish in the water! It was really a wonderful way to finish my experience here. I’ll definitely be visiting here again, and soon! P. S. Did I mention the lunch specials are worth their weight in gold? $ 7? Superb!!!

The lunch special is only $ 7.00 and you get soup, Chinese Chicken Salad, and your entrée. Not a bad lunch special. I couldn’t finish my plate. I had the Kung Pao Shrimp which was supposed to be spicy but turned out just warm. That’s okay because they made up for it by offering brown rice! The food was okay, much better than Panda, but beware that they do use MSG so if it bothers you stay away. Not the best I have had but not the worst. I’ll come back as I want to try the Mongolian Beef next time.

I waffled between a 2 or 3 star rating… So, I tried this place, based on the Unilocal reviews… We got the Szechuan chicken, really not bad, but if you like SPICY, make sure you let them know because it just had a bit of a tang. The chicken chow fun was seriously disappointing — the chicken was tasty enough, but the noodles were gummy. The spicy eggplant had an odd smell, wasn’t very spicy and I ended up composting most of it. The sweet and sour pork(standard for both hubby and kids) was not too bad. The breading did not make up half the volume(+) but the pork was not as tender as I’d have liked(-). Thumbs down from my son… The view really is lovely, and the staff was friendly when I went to pick up the order with my kids(who have a bit of cabin fever today). I’d be willing to try it again, but my expectations are pretty low. Sigh… I really want to find a GOOD Chinese restaurant in Alameda, especially since the Ark seems to have gone downhill.

Brought my out of town friends from LA to Harbor View and had a good time. The service was outstanding. We were there for three and a half hours and never felt the pressure to leave. We were also very happy to learn that the server would refill our tea several times even after the bill was paid. The view looking out towards the lagoon was picturesque. As one of Chinese restaurants to offer a gorgeous view and bar, the ambiance is appropriate for business or laid back social gatherings. We had a great time. The food was fresh and colorful. Depends on how you see it, it could be viewed as bland or simply light with a healthy emphasis. Every dish was very light and not oily. I was actually impressed that none of the dishes were slammed with a sauce. I had anticipated the general tsao chicken to be deep fried but instead it was pleasantly stir fried. The string beans and the mixed vegetables were very well made. The only negative is that the bland consistency seems to be the major theme across all the dishes and that could bore one’s imagination and anticipation. I must admit that my palate was fatigued after a while from such uniformity in taste. The place cannot guarantee authenticity but it does offer a combination of rare intangibles. This is a good place if you’re looking for privacy, and eating with light and/or healthy eaters.
