Foods okay, not the best, but they are quick and friendly.

My favorite burrito place. Always the staff is super friendly. There salsa bar rocks! I’m a burrito lover and seriously this is my favorite place to get the burrito fix. There’s good spacing for seating. The staff has always been super generous. I really like there tortilla chips.

Great service, Great food and very affordable. I got the steak — shrimp and my wife had shrimp with rice. Both were delicious and looked very nice. I will definitely coming back.

3.5 stars Came around and walked in for another blind restaurant night out. I wasn’t feeling fajitas since having them recently but that’s what the family wanted. The service was attentive and reasonably prompt. But as always we filled up on chips too much too fast. Well, can’t really blame hunger, we wouldn’t be out to eat if we weren’t hungry right? We can blame the salsa. It was good. Anyway, we all got fajitas. Mixed between shrimp, beef and chicken. Oh, and I got the sampler plate that had chorizo as well as cactus as well. Good mix if you wanna try a little bit of everything. Portions were large and the inevitable leftovers tasted good the next day too. Can’t complain.

This place is amazing. Great service. Top notch enchilada sauce! Amazing chips and salsa. The alameda island(shrimp and steak) is great!

Meh! I didn’t care for the food. It was whatever. There’s better Mexican food else where. I had the chimichanga that came with rice inside I don’t care for it that way and I kept getting bones from the chicken. No bueno. My husband said his was okay too he had the camarones a la diabla. Best thing I had here was the Jack and Coke lol won’t be back

Jaunita’s is great. It’s not the fanciest place with the fanciest food, but it hits the spot and the staff is nice. I’m a big fan of the chicken mole.

The food was, eh okay. The service was average. Let me just say if your expecting great service your only going to get a half fake smile from them. I ordered the combination dinner that was chile rellenos(too watery and not enough flavor) and a grilled chicken taco(more like grilled cabbage taco with a hint of chicken flavor) I’m pretty picky with Mexican food and I can assure this will be the last time I revisit this place.

An Alamedan Traditon, a local favorite. Friendly staff, and excellent food. The chile relleno dinner was especially good tonight, paired with guacamole, snd their house salsa.

FOODPOISONING! I’ve eaten her for 15+ years not the best, but will do in a pinch. Ordered the chorizo con huevos for pick-up yesterday and two of us, vomitted violently ALLDAY Sunday, plus diahrrea and pain. The person who picked up the order didn’t eat their food. He was the lucky one. Had to go to Kaiser. Extremely disappointed as this is a local place that we all frequent, but he has gone downhill and will not return.

I been eating at this restaurant for over 20 years«the Juanita’s plate» with «camarones a la diabla»(spicy shrimp) is delicious, the only thing wrong is that restrooms are unattended, they finally fixed the loud repetitive music. food is tasty and fresh.

I had their shrimp taco, it was alright. Although there was only my party and another, service was still kind of slow. I would come back because prices and quality are decent, but not a priority for Mexican food.

I’ve been coming here since I was a baby in my moms tummy and I’m 27 years old, it’s my favorite restaurant in the entire world. Their enchiladas are too die for, even though throughout my life they have changed the sauce several times I’m still so satisfied, service is fast and good. The switch over to the new owners, seems to be going ok. The prices are hiked up which is kind of frustrating because it’s cheap Mexican food to me, but overall Juanitas will forever be my favorite!

Service: Good, very friendly. Venue: Clean, quite, no line. Food: Too salty. Rice is bland. Mole is ok. Refried beans are ok but beware, you’ll be thirsty. I’ve been going once a year because one member in my giant family loves it here. We go for this persons bday. Every time I leave my stomach is upset and I’m very thirsty. I’d rather go to La Penca Azul. –A local(15+ years)

Do not get the mexican fajitas platter. The carne asada was the the worst I have ever tried. The shrimp was not fresh and everything was pretty bland. Do not come here. Go down the street to La Penca, it’s worth the wait. Good service though.

My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant recently for dinner. We found a coupon for the place in the entertainment book and so thought it would be nice to try. We were very impressed. The entrée portions are huge! My boyfriend had a burrito and it was three times as big as ones I usually see. He could only eat less then half of it and took the rest of it home. Gourmet leftovers! I had the chicken drenched in mole sauce(chocolate). Wow! I loved it!!! I have now discovered my favorite traditional Mexican meal. The sauce is not sweet nor is it bitter but it is creamy, mild and rich in flavor. I loved it and hope we get the chance to go back there again! Pros: –spacious restaurant with lots of seating –great service –generous entrée portions –reasonable prices –great tasting food –conveniently located in the downtown area –lots of parking Cons: –Nothing!

I was out in Alameda for a business trip and randomly stopped in here for a lunch. That was the best decision of 2015, easily. Place was not too crowded, but not empty, with a great Mexican atmosphere of music and style. I was seated quickly and my waitress, Sonia, was epic. She was very attentive and super positive, a good ¾ths of the reason I enjoyed this place. When I ordered she became my Mexican mother in law, telling me not to order this but that, because it was so good. I believed her and her enthusiasm. I’m glad I listened too. The re-fried beans were heavenly, almost too good. If that’s even possible for beans? I know now it can be. My tamale and taco were glorious, and everything was literally a piece of one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Makes me want to fly from Colorado to this place again just for the food and service. Everyone was super nice, and it was damn good. Go here people. Go here a lot. Thanks Sonia!

I’ve been twice now, and I’m a convert. The Unilocalers didn’t lie to me — the soup is every single thing you want and need when you’re sick, and delicious any other time as well. The chips and salsa are great, the margaritas do the trick, and the food satisfies the Celia’s cravings from my childhood. Is it traditional? Is it authentic? Is it THEBESTMEXICANFOODEVAR? I don’t know, and I really don’t care — I think it’s delicious, and certainly my new go to on the Island.

Over here in Cali for the weekend and was craving Mexican food for breakfast! The other place my cousin wanted to take me to was surprisingly closed, so we ended up here. The first food on their breakfast menu that caught my eye was Menudo. As a Filipino, I didn’t know what to expect of Mexican Menudo. The description said«Tripe» but I was having a hard time imagining the base of the soup. I asked the waitress and she said it was in some red sauce. When I got the soup, it was red alright, but it wasn’t spicy. It was a little bland for my tasting. My Menudo came with flour tortilla. Unfortunately, it only comes with one – and I would have to pay extra if I wanted more. The atmosphere was super nice; and if I get the chance to come here again, I’d definitely try something else on their menu… Like the Hennessy with Horchata drink

Been meaning to come here for so many years. This restaurant is owed by my friends from my hometown who used to be my neighbors… the Arechiga’s. This weekend while I was in the neighborhood My mom wanted to come by and have lunch here, so we did and let me tell you, their food is delicious. Not because it’s my friends restaurant, but because their food has a homemade flavor, mom approved. See, my mom is a great cook and she wouldn’t go to just any place… she will only take a break from cooking to visit a place where they serve authentic Mexican food. And Juanita’s is as authentic as you can get. Not only is their restaurant very clean and inviting with great customer service, but the food is delicious… which has won them 5 stars. Great job to the Arechiga’s, maintaining a restaurant with these qualities is hard to come by and not an easy feat.
