Last year I did a review on this event and I thought it was called the Neptune Beach Festival. Okay… my bad… and I didn’t realize it’s called the Neptune Beach Community Celebration. Compared to the Spring Festival, Art ‘n Wine and the Classic Cars events on Park Street, this one does not draw a lot of people. Hey, the weather was nice and Bob Claire’s Orchestra was performing from 4:30PM to 6:00PM. They sure knew how to get people up onto the dance floor… in this case the concrete pavement. However, I believe most people were either at the Oakland A’s game or in San Francisco for the American Cup races.(Then I read another Unilocaler’s review of the American Cup in San Francisco… race canceled, race delayed until Monday or something like that.) Walgreens representatives were there with the spin the wheel game($ 5 for three spins and 5 items of one’s choice). Of course, I went for the big spin/turn of the wheel… lol…kinda makes me think of that song, «big wheel keep on turnin’, Proud Mary keep on burnin» — hey, it’s more like Proud Carol spun that wheel and it kept rollin, rollin, rollin… naw it did not roll down the river, ha!!! What did I get… a red Walgreen canvas bag with a red frisbee for free; 1st spin — a Svenhard’s danish; 2nd spin — a bottle of water; 3rd spin — a coupon for a free photo enlargement of either a 5×7 or 8×10. The five items were 2 small first aid kits, another bottle of water, a 24-oz. slurpee glass, and a large potato chip clip. Somehow I ended with two more of those potato chip clips… I guess I got the hook up on them. As usual, I bought a strawberry/mango agua fresca from Otaez($ 2.00). Aside from this, there were plenty of BBQ vendors, a few greasy food vendors, the art ‘n craft vendors, etc. etc. Then they also had the pony rides, giant slide, ferris wheel, and those inflated bouncing things for young children. To keep things in check, representatives from APD were there… aww…too bad I could not snag a few ink pens. This review is just an update of last year’s Neptune Beach Festival. I don’t consider it a FTR. However, this time around I took more photos.
