I love this place. The broth is so clean and the owner is always so nice. Take it this way if this place was ever in trouble I would help to keep it open. I come for lunch at least twice a month if I’m lucky to get out from work. Price is good for what you get and has good options. It’s I nice lil spin from traditional.

Delicious huge bowl of phở on a cold and rainy day! The customer service is decent, the food is delicious and the prices are great! I don’t frequent Alameda that much but I will be back!

I have tried to like this place since they opened, since it is within walking distance of where I live and I love phở and banh mi, but today I finally gave up. Every time that I’ve gotten a sandwich the meat has been SO sparse, I had several bites of the grilled pork bahn mi today without any meat in it. This is made worse by the fact that it is about a dollar more expensive then most better places I go in Oakland/Berkeley. I also felt really ill the whole day after eating this, but it hasn’t happened before so I can’t be sure to blame it on what I got from here, though it was the only thing I ate today. I also got an iced coffee, and while the flavor was good and they didn’t make it too sweet, the cup was crammed with as much ice as could possibly fit inside(more than I’ve come to expect whenever getting this or a thai iced tea somewhere) and there was over an inch of space between the lid and where the liquid began. If it’s going to be mostly ice at least fill it to the top. I wish I had taken a picture. As for the phở, we got it once months ago and lets just say it was so meh we had no desire to go back for that. At least it’s cheap. All in all the food isn’t disgusting or going to put a dent in your wallet, but there are soooo many better options I’d rather travel a little further for something delicious.

A fairly underwhelming phở experience. The broth wasn’t very good and the large size didn’t come with much meet or noodles. Maybe the sandwiches are better

Where do I begin? Hubby and I are so grateful for my brother to introduce us to this place, since then, we’ve gone here quite often! They have the best bhan mi and with such an affordable price, they can also make it a combo. Oh and if you like garlic you must try their garlic noodles dish, just the right amount of garlic and it’s not oily either. By the way, what drink on the menu do they have that pairs well with the noodles… Lychee green tea that is!

I honestly don’t know why this establishment has four stars because the food was not good. Before my visit, I read most of the reviews and overall, it seems like people were satisfied with this place. This place is relatively still new, clean and the workers are nice. Something cool about this place is that it has an open kitchen– you can literally see them fry your eggs rolls and prepare your bowl of phở. Their menu does not look appealing and it lacks uniqueness. I ordered a bowl of phở tai(rare steak) and it tasted really bland. Maybe the phở broth needs more seasoning and love from their grandma. Now that I had read the reviews again, I noticed that the reviews are made by non Vietnamese people and maybe a handful of Caucasian people. A good theory as in why their food taste hella bland is because they probably cater to Americans and non natives only. Ehhh. Go to Phở Anh Dao instead plzzz.

I really love Phở, I really do. So when I sae a banner on central Avenue I immediately wanted to try this place near my house. When I walked in I noticed a lot of patrons and several families, I thought it would be empty. Onced I ordered my Phở I craved spring rolls and a sandwich. The Phở itself has a nice flavour and the meat is goof but the chicken I feel that it is store bought in a bag((Squinting my eyes)). I am definitely happy with this place and will keep going; it gets me full and it’s not expensive. I did see on the banner that it provides delivery $ 20 minimum but then I see Unilocal not promoting that.

If in Alameda on a mild day this spot is good for a warm and satisfying meal. The items we did get seemed so healthy — without much salt or msg I’m guessing? Everyone liked the regular phở. I thought the chicken phở was bland, but I eat too much salt so take that with a grain of it. The grilled pork and grilled chicken sandwiches were popular with others. I didn’t see a combination version like at other Viet delis though. I tried their Viet coffee and it’s like a single-espresso with a hint of hazelnut syrup, which was surprisingly very good. If ever returning here — very likely — I would get that coffee again and try more items. Actually, many of the items are variations of Viet food, not outright fusion but close. Prices are reasonable considering it’s suburbia and you can get the same items cheaper in nearby Oakland Chinatown. The place is more like a deli than the typical grimy noodle house. As such, it was brightly lit and did not have that yellow hue lighting at many Asian eateries. There are seating for a couple dozen inside and three tables for two outside.

We found this yummy Phở diner-café via Unilocal and its also near our home! I and are hubby were craving something warm and soothing to eat during a chilly, rainy day! I had the vegetarian Phở-Noodle soup(super deelish! Exactly what I was craving) and hubby ordered the Seafood Phở-Noodle soup. And we also ordered a lovely fragrant hot Jasmin green tea… brewed right in the pot ready to serve. The owner was adorable and came out to serve our tea himself and show us how this unique teapot pours the tea(from the center with a light push and release system. What a precious lunch! I also wanted to add that the owner also took the time to share that their food is MSG free! Yey! We will def be back to eat! Thank you Phở Baguette!

This place is different. This place serves amazing Vietnamese food. The restaurant is a typical to go style banh mi place that’ll have you in and out in no time. There are tables to dine in as well. I was in area craving a banh mi and found this gem on Unilocal and I’m glad I did. The banh mi thit nuong was delicious. You’ll notice from first bite that they’re making a point for themselves and they can compete. I enjoyed every bite and added a little sriacha to spice things up. The only con to this was the price was a bit higher than competitors but I see why. I ordered a com thit nguon plate to go and 4 hours later enjoying this dish. After I ate the meal I immediately hop on Unilocal to write a review. The rice plate was delicious. The fish sauce that comes with it is on point! The beef was cooked just right. No burnt taste or any complaints. I will definitely be coming back here whenever I’m in the neighborhood. So goot(good)!

After putting my laundry into the wash at a nearby laundromat, I had time to kill and it was almost dinnertime so I found this phở shop across the street and headed in. I had high hopes after seeing some pretty good reviews. They don’t have much selection available. You have steak phở, chicken phở, some seafood soup, and other banh mi or vermicelli dishes. I should have known right from the bat that a restaurant that has phở in its name but only provides one cut of beef would not be that great. I opted for the small steak phở. When it came out, there was quite a sizeable amount of oil on top of the soup. Strike 1. There was a decent amount of meat in the soup, so no complaints there. The veggie plate was standard as well. As I took my first bite, I noticed that the rice noodle was a bit off. There was an interesting texture to it. Not sure if they just weren’t cooked enough, or if they purchased some bargain rice noodle from a non-Asian company. Either way, the noodles bothered me throughout the meal. Strike 2. And the final kicker was the broth. After seeing the menu, I was already certain it would not meet any of my expectations, and I was right. Not only was the broth bland, but it had an odd sweetness to it. Strike 3. Maybe next time I’ll try the vermicelli or a banh mi. But with such cheaper and authentic Vietnamese food just 5 – 10 minutes away, I just can’t see myself returning. It’s quite a shame, since the owner was pretty nice and asked how my meal was. The restaurant is pretty new, so hopefully they read some of these reviews and make appropriate changes.

Recently moved to the BayArea from SoCal and was so bummed out to have yet find a Phở place I would love. Say no more… I’m here almost everyday it feels like. I love their Grilled Pork Sandwiches and Shrimp Spring Rolls! The peanut sauce is the right consistency and I usually order the Phở for dinner. Sometimes I take out twice a day. I get the specials and if you love cold drinks like I do, the Ice Coffee and Thai Ice Tea are my favs! I tend to become a regular not only when I love the food but most importantly when they offer great customer service with a friendly smile. Everyone that works here is very polite and considerate, not to mention they keep the venue very clean. Highly recommend to try this place!

Had Vietnamese Sandwich and a Vermicelli Bowl. Excellent! Tried a new item: Tornado Fries. It’s a skewered spiral cut potato dipped in a spice mixture then deep fried. YUMMY!

Don’t expect too much coming in here. Came in and ordered two things. A small Seafood Phở??? Which is sketch. And a large Special Combination Phở, with everything. Total came out to about $ 20. Once the food came out, I was shocked at what they gave me. The«special combination» looked exactly like the seafood one. Except they added two pieces of small ass meat and a bigger bowl, and they charged me $ 3.00 more??? We overheard them speak in Vietnamese when the guy told the chef lady that she made a mistake on the seafood one, because she made chicken, so he said«go to the back and take out the chicken and throw some seafood in it». Wait. What? At this point I asked the guy to explain what’s in this«special combination» and why am I paying damn near $ 11 for something that looks like it came from a instant seafood package. The guy said the chef put like 4 pieces of meat and some tendon in there too. So I dug through my bowl again and just said forget it and asked for a refund, which I almost never do at a restaurant. Come on man, Phở and Baguette is the name, but you are selling seafood noodle. When you hear, special combination at any real phở spot, you expect the Phở Dac Biet. But in this case, they consider some fish balls, lobster balls, two piece of beef and one piece of grilled chicken to be special I guess. Pros: — None — Maybe get their sandwiches since they seem to specialize in that Cons: — Phở is not really phở — Bad quality in food Overall, .5 a star. Change the name to Seafood Noodle and Baguette please.

My choices for my 600th review would have been either Phở and Baguette or In-and-Out Burger — newly opened businesses in Alameda. However, I held off from doing reviews of these two businesses because I wanted my 600th review to be bold and daring — a little adventurous and fun. Thus, Hot Cookie received that honor. Phở and Baguette has been opened for business since about four months ago. However, they held their grand opening ceremony last Saturday, May 30, 2015, from 12 noon to 2:00PM. The Honorable Mayor Trish Spencer was there for the ribbon cutting ceremony, an event that I missed since I was running behind schedule. They had free samples of Vietnamese egg rolls, spring rolls, fish balls, banh mi sandwiches(cut slices). First check-in: 5÷30÷2015 Time: 2:10PM63° Partly sunny and slightly overcast I stopped in at the tail end of the grand opening and was given a free raffle ticket for a prize. Most of the free samples of food were gone, except for a few pieces of fish balls, egg rolls and banh mi sandwiches. I was caught by surprise that my raffle ticket number was called and I ended being a recipient of a $ 20.00 gift certificate… woo hoo. I seldom win anything in a raffle drawing. It must’ve been my lucky day. Winning also meant a future visit ASAP. Free meal for two depending on what I will be ordering. Second check-in: 6÷1÷2015 Time: 7:15PM68° Sunny and warm Location: In Neptune Plaza, next door to Lee’s Donuts and somewhat across from the Bonfare Market on Central Avenue and Webster Street. Ambiance: To the left of the entrance are four sets of tables(1 — 4), each with four leather padded stools. Straight ahead of the entrance and against the wall are a pair of tables with seating for two per table. Maximum seating: 20 people. All tables have condiments(bottles of hoisin and sriracha sauces, container of hot chile oil, salt, pepper) and necessary utensils(green plastic chopsticks, soup spoons and small sauce dishes) for phở, spring rolls, vermicelli salad. Menu board on the left wall, framed illustrations of menu items on the right wall, lucky«gold» Buddha on floor several feet away from entrance. In the corner on the left side is a self-serve refrigerator with bottled water and cold beverages. Comfy and casual. Eats/beverages: Fast and fresh Vietnamese food, which consists of spring rolls, vermicelli bowls, bang mi, phở, smoothies(five flavors), milk coffee, milk tea, green tea, soda lemonade and two different flavored soda lemonades(mango and strawberry). Order: One meatball banh mi(3 stars), one grilled pork vermicelli bowl(3.5 stars), and Vietnamese egg rolls with trimmings of romaine leaves and shredded carrots(3.5 stars). Total cost including tax: $ 16.94. Employee/staff: family runned business. Young lady assisting me was friendly and nice. Cleanliness: Grade A. No crumbs or leftover food residue on tables. No trash on floor. Rating of 3.5 stars is rounded up to 4 stars. Return visit: Yes. It’s walking distance from my home and convenient. Eager to have their taro smoothie.

I KNEWIT! I knew this place was going to be great! Good job intuition! My friend wanted the food of her peoples and luckily we were driving straight toward this place. I’m so glad that this place was open, it definitely hit the spot. We got amazing service from the moment we walked in from the moment we left oh so satisfied. No minimum for debit or credit cards? Smells like delicious phở broth as soon as you walk in? ***Note: The broth here is VERY peppery. Not like a spicy pepper but a table pepper, pepper. I actually really liked it but my Vietnamese friend thought it was a bit strange. Actually lychee in my actual green tea instead of syrup? Things just got better and better. I’m so used to ordering shrimp spring rolls, I wasn’t too hungry but the guy there told me that I would love the grilled pork spring rolls so I just went along with it. My friend opted for a small bowl of phở. When he brought out my spring rolls he asked if I wanted the traditional peanut sauce but he recommended that I try my rolls with the cilantro sauce mixed with the fish sauce and THAT was the one. Their nuoc mam here is a lot sweeter than the ones I’ve tasted but when mixed with the cilantro sauce it was just perfect. I’m an avid tea drinker so when I say I loved my tea, it was real tea. It was a bit bitter like green tea should be but sweet enough to know that they used real lychee juice. You get extra points from me if you give me real lychees in my drink. What’s the best part about this place besides the amazing food, tea, and service? The prices are amazing. My spring rolls and tea were a little under 7 dollars. That is like going to Chinatown for lunch but you’re in Alameda. I feel like they’re so close to Chinatown so they have to try and match their prices, and thank Buddha they do. I am so excited to come back for their phở, banh mi and more. I will voluntarily drive all the way to this side of the island for this amazing little hole in the wall. P. S. Dear Phở Baguette, please play some music. Any music. I wouldn’t even mind the Asian opera music that older people sing on TV. I actually like that. Or 96.5, anything at all. Music would be nice please and thanks!

It’s actually a cute little perfect phở place. I came in thinking the food was going to be mediocre but boy, was I wrong. Try this! Green tea matcha drink was delicious but I was expecting boba with it. Oh well.

I stumbled upon Phở and baguette with my friend on a Friday night because we were trying to look for a good phở place. Unfortunately, every restaurant we looked at was closed(figures, Oakland right? Haha). But we Unilocaled phở places and baguette looked nice. Right when we walked in, we were greeted by the manager at the front and he so friendly and kind. We ordered the phở combination and it only came out to be about 9(use Unilocal for 10% discount). The seating arrangement is unique for this small mom and pop shop but I love it. The phở was aight, but it wasn’t awe inspiring. I will come back to this place because prices are low and the atmosphere is so welcoming. I’ll definitely check out their banh mi and bun as well. Eat well and prosper folks

Phở & Baguette is in a former little Caesar spot. menu on side blackboard: rolls, phở, baguettes. not many options of each… eats: vietnamese rolls(fried, 4.99) –3 with turo inside, mushy taste –2 sauces given, sweet/fish sauce and green spicy one –romaine lettuce leafs, shredded carrots, leafy«twigs» finished rolls by dipping in sauce, the lettuce, carrots, et al. remained *!!! each roll was meant to be eaten in a lettuce leaf with sauces, carrots, a twig. authentic vietnamese(soul) food and i didn’t notice it. crumbs: –10% off + free soda offered, didn’t get soda, don’t like sodas anyways. –order at counter, all food made in plain sight. –4.49 seem a bit for a banh mi. –wondering how phở can be made in such a small space, didn’t want to find out. *rolls definitely the stars here. check them out!
