Walked up today and it’s an entirely different restaurant. Burgers? Oh good, we needed another burger joint; there are only 8000 on the island. I want my mac n cheese back!!! They were calling it «Fritters Fritters» two weeks ago, but now it appears to be «Homeskillet» — definitely a better choice in my opinion.

I really really wanna like this place. We came in on a Saturday night which was busy but luckily got a seat. Didn’t get service right away but a nice girl came around. We knew what we wanted so we ordered right away. Our appetizer took forever. Waitress came and apologized 50 times said they dumped the entire bbq sauce bottle on our fries. I found that more funny than annoying. We wait more. Three stars for our appetizer being on the house and it was good. My boyfriend ordered the pot pie which was great more soupy like just an FYI. I ordered just a regular Mac and cheese, it was ok. A little overcooked. Seemed to try too hard in being cheesy to where it was just baked on. Also, everything is piping hot, make sure to let cool. Went home with a stomachache, not sure if I’ll be back.

Great food. Awesome bartender. Took time to help me chose a few tasters. After I’d had a few and I couldn’t remember the last two in front of me, he could. He even explained the details of each. The Oaktown brown is delicious!

This is an all over the place restaurant… sort of a fusion of asian/american. Lots of different, seemingly random items on their menu. It makes me a little hesitant to order, because I’m not sure if they’re actually good at making a category of foods or if they’re just throwing things on the menu because that’s what they know how to make. And the menu seems to change often. I did order sweet potato tater tots as a mid-afternoon snack one time and it was good, but not great.

I was very much under the impression these guys were open until 9. their Unilocal page says they’re open until 9. the sign outside their door says they’re open until 9. so why when I walked up right before 8:30 to grab a quick bite was there a sign on the door that says CLOSED? pretty crappy business if you ask me.

The food was ok but the service is too slow. The food takes 30 minutes to cook and the food was still too hot to eat.

Good comfort food! I have been searching for some good sloppy joes and mac n cheese for awhile now. I now finally found the spot when my craving ever hits again! What we ordered: Crispy calamari — perfectly crisp, not oily, just perfect for my tasting Sloppy joe — good portion, delicious, not too sloppy ;) Mac bites — 3 big pieces of their different mac for trying out. Really good! Also good décor and environment!

Eh. I came here when it first opened, thought I would support my local eateries with its grand opening. I have’t been there since. I got their Mac & Cheese and to be honest, it had no flavor. It tasted so bland despite the rich cheese that was put into that thing and it was expensive for its quality. I don’t know how you could go wrong with mac n cheese but they did and it was disappointing. I felt like I was just consuming fat. If you want good, and I mean REALLY good, mac n cheese, hit up the infamous Homeroom in Oakland! I didn’t come back maybe because I don’t trust any other dish if the Mac n Cheese was so bad.

Boyfriend and I went yesterday for a quick bite. The only positives were the beer(Hef) he had was good and there wasn’t a wait to get in. The young waiter appeared to be clueless about what was offered on the menu. He was nice but nervous as heck. The people next to me ordered a glass of Merlot. Poor guy kept asking her to repeat her order until he finally said«do you mean MerLOT(didn’t know the«T» is silent). After ordering the food took FOREVER to come out. We ordered 3 appetizers, Mac Bites, Calamari, and Wings. The Mac Bites were ok but probably could have been smaller since they were so rich. Both the calamari and wings had WAY too much batter. The garlic dipping sauce tasted more like roasted garlic oil dipping sauce. They only serve wine, beers, and a sake martini. I tried the sake martini and found it to be one of the worst drinks I’ve ever tasted. Based on the wait, inexperienced waiter, and overly battered food, we will not return.

The PS Eatery was a second choice as we wanted to go to Burma Superstar. We had a 6 y.o. with us so waiting 20 – 30 minutes was totally out of the question. We ordered Fried Calamari, PS Salad, and an Angus buger with fries, and chicken sandwich. The restaurant was pretty empty and only 1 waiter/bartender and 1 cook. It took a little while to get our food. The food was average, nothing stood out add fantastic. I don’t know if I would return.

Service was good but I think I can cook better than the cook in there! I asked for a chicken garlic noodle and is really bad It was burned chicken they redo the dish for me and then it turn out super oily… I won’t come back here for sure They need to change the cook first

I’m kind of disappointed. I’m always rootin’ for local Alameda restaurants and this place fell short. Maybe I had such high expectations? Granted, they have a few unique menu items. They all sounded like good comfort food. Chicken fried chicken, mac n cheese(with different types of meat), meat pies, and other deep fried stuff. We ordered a few dishes and we didn’t want to finish any of it. First bite, okay let’s give it another try. Nope, it’s just not that good and I refuse to order more so I’ll just keep eating. They do offer big portions and their staff was friendly. Everything was just very bland. I really don’t know what else to say.

Had an order to go. The staff was very helpful and the food was prepared quickly. I tried the Mac Balls on the starter menu. They are so good but super sinful. Definitely for sharing, the order comes with 3 and they are very rich. They come with a spicy dipping sauce that is super good. Anyways I could only eat one of them. I also tried the pulled pork sandwich. Every bite was so good. The pork was not a typical sweet BBQ style that I’m used to and is not messy at all. Very savory and tender. The fresh bread roll was toasty warm. There were a lot of pickles on it, which complimented the favors of the pork. I think the menu mentioned there was aioli on it. If there was it was minimal. Not greasy. Also very large. So yum!

Vegetarian meh! I’ve been twice now. I believe their ideas(ingredients/creations) are in the right place, but the execution is flavorless and lack luster. Might be better for meat eaters, but my experiences don’t make me want to return. Photo is of veggie mac.

The food, atmosphere and people are great. Food: My go-to meal there is the Pulled Pork sandwich with Cajun fries and a Buzzerkley/Altar Boy beer. Some of the meals I wish they would bring back include their soft shell crab salad and Lamb dinner entrée. Regardless, they have staples such as burgers, mac and cheese, sandwiches, calamari, noodles, chicken wings, and etc. However, I think they are consistently improving and updating their menu, which always makes it exciting! Staff: I usually come alone after work and the wait/management staff always makes me feel welcomed! The place is often a hit or miss in regards to customers. Sometimes there will be a lot, and sometimes it’s dead. However, it seems to follow the cycle of work hours, so the best time to come during that 9−5pm gap. This place is usually packed during the weekend, and I can see why! Atmosphere: Hands down, this place is unique to anything on park street. I absolutely love the funky yet industrial style. This is definitely suited for all ages and has just about anything for anyone. Overall, this is a great addition to Park Street, and I can’t wait to see it’s updates and improvements within the years. I have high hopes for this :) Now only if they were open more: P

This is a solid place for couples or families(especially young families) to get a quality burger and a quality beer, or even something a bit fancier. We live in Alameda and If I could only eat(and drink) at one place the rest of my Alameda life, PS would be in the running. My wife and 4yo son come here all the time and they give us great service. Considering the quality and flavor of their dishes, the great service, and the prices, they’re hard to beat. Worst case scenario — you get your money’s worth.

I kept meaning to write a review of PS eatery when we first had a many plate lunch here. I had dillydallied 8 months. The food was good on the first visit. However, I had dillydallied 8 months, a lot of changes can take place during that long of a period of time, or even worse I would write about something that was long gone from the menu. I come to Alameda frequently, so, another lunch was in order. We came with a Groupon the first time. I know that S thinks a coupon means we can order more food and I just go with along him. The server told us that Mac and cheese is their signature dish. There were several variations on the menu. We chose the creamy version to share. It was okay; I would have liked it a lot more if it was creamier. We also had a green salad it was nicely dressed with pleasant ginger vinaigrette. We also shared the crispy calamari. I’ve forgotten what S had; it was something off the dinner menu. I had the drunken beef over garlic noodles the meat was rare and so tender it melted in my mouth. This should be there signature dish it was excellent, I thought about for days. We finished off with a green tea panna cotta in a jar. The service that day was not notch. The 2nd time I came for lunch I just had the drunken beef with garlic noodles. They were still good but not as memorable as the dish I had the first time. I think that the server was annoyed that I was not sitting closer to the kitchen so she did not have to walk to the front of the restaurant. PS Eatery is definitely on my Alameda list. I like the minimalist interior and the lime green walls. The food was so good the first time and pretty good the second time. I would like to try the drunken beef again.

2.8 for dinner recently. Just wasn’t terribly impressed by the food. Signature mac n cheese? we ordered the original. not creamy at all. In fact, when we forked into the shallow quiche-like dish, it was dry and difficult to spear. Total disappoinment. The wings(6) with special house BBQ were nice and hot, crispy, and quite meaty. Satisfying. Salads were also OK, but small portions for the price. Roasted beets needed more seasoning and more flavor. Service was perfunctory. Definitely not too memorable, but seems like a decent patronage, and eating at the bar as a solo diner… no problem! super comfortable, local, casual joint.

Everytime I pass PSE, I’m happy to see that it’s usually pretty crowded, so I was surprised when my dad said he got another Groupon to use here. Unfortunately, when we sat down, they said we had to have 4 people with us. Damn you, fine print! When we sat down, the waitress said that she’s never seen us, so good to know they have regulars, but we might be the OG’s that were here before she was. I’ll give you guys a quick list of what we sampled: Sweet potato fries Pulled pork sandwich Fried chicken sandwich Brussel sprouts(with bacon) Crispy chicken wings(garlic and onion butter) I was actually writing a really long detailed review until I realized that while it was a good dinner, it was just good. Everything was just very standard, not much to brag about. It’s all decently priced good food. The things that make these things a bit better are the slight quirks here and there. Stuff like the malt vinegar aoli, the extra crispy bread on the pulled pork sandwich, and the garlic and onion butter sauce. They have a really wide variety of mac and cheese that seems to be very popular, but I’m not big on that so I can’t really judge. A-OKay but I won’t complain.
