This mom and pop place does not disappoint. Be prepared to wait a bit for your food to be cooked. I personally enjoy their chicken kebab, which is always cooked and seasoned to perfection. The ambiance is casual and there is a TV in the dining room usually showing a local sports game.

This place is BOMB. It’s a great spot for a quick meal. You order at the counter, then chill at your table and wait for them to call you. There are TVs with sound, so you can watch sports while you wait. There is also nice outdoor seating. I got the halal chicken salad, which was absolutely awesome. I also got some falafel, which was delectable. I didn’t get the gyro philly, but it looked absurdly good. I will be back here often. It’s a spot worth frequenting for sure…

Amazingly cute flower patio greets you followed by amazingly friendly staff. I ordered the wings, and they were hands down the best I’ve ever had. The seasoning was out of this world. My friend got a gyro and she said the meat was juicy and there was obviously a LOT of it. Our time here was precious and we will be back!

I have been here about 4 – 5 times since they open and my orders have been good every time. I have tried the gyro philly, gyro platter and gyro wraps and they are all delicious. Customer service is great. The place is small and can get busy at certain times so finding a table to sit may take a few minutes. In short Q’s place has good food, good price and good customer service. I recommend this place to family and friends.

Maybe I’m wrong about this whole«I hate Mediterranean style food» thing. Q’s was pretty rock solid and maybe one of the more under appreciated spots over on Park St. So if you know me, I’m not a fan of Mediterranean at all. It’s just not my type of food. So I had pretty low expectations walking into Q’s. But dang they blew my taste buds away with what they had here. I got one of their rice plates and man oh man could I have eaten this for years and years. Service was pretty solid and the price was amazing considering their portion sizes. Definitely a solid choice if you’re wandering Alameda looking for grub.

I had a falafel plate and by husband had a gyro wrap. Baklava for dessert. Everything was delicious(baklava wasn’t dry!)

Definitely one of the top 3 places I would go for gyros. Came here for a late lunch on a Wednesday afternoon and there was no wait. I came here with somewhat high expectations after reading many spectacular reviews on Unilocal.Tried out the gyro wrap and I was very happy with my decision. Gyro Wrap: The meat was more so of pieces rather than shredded/thin slices. The sauces were flavorful, however I found it overpowering the flavor of the lamb. Big portion, very filling. Wasn’t packaged tight enough and food kept falling off one end. Mango Lassi: Consistency was thinner than a milkshake’s, but thicker than a juice’s. Flavor was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. Would definitely want to come back to try out the waffle fries and gyro rice platter.

Great place for gyros if youre in need for a Mediterranean fix! Right in the heart of Alameda right off of Park st! The GYRO is here off the hook! It’s ahmazinggggg! Sauce and meat was PERFECT. My girlfriend ordered the rice plate and the portions were hugeeeee! Enough to feed two people! The meat is a little different than most places since it’s not thinly sliced ! BUT the flavoring and consistency of the meat is still on point! They give you pita bread too with the rice plate so Instead of ordering The gyro next time, I think I’m going to order the rice plate and make my own gyros cuz there’s SOOO much more! Well worth it and I’d have to say this place is one of the top threes on my list for Greek food!

This place is so delicious! First time eating here was yesterday with my boyfriend. We ordered two beef and lamb gyro and it was one of the best gyros I have tried here. Very inexpensive too! The gyro break is so soft and the meat is so tasty and I just can’t wait to go back again and try one of their platters! Thanks for serving great and delicious food!

First of all. the older lady behind the counter. needs some customer service lessons big time. You don’t have to butter me up. but please don’t scowl at me for not knowing how your restaurant works. I went in a second time because the Gyro was so good. I even brought a friend. I was willing to put up with that shitty service again just for the food. The second time around. she was there again and unhappy again. Like… REALLY unhappy. Maybe if she tries some of the amazing food this place produces she’ll come around a bit. But that food ohhhh that food. So freaking tasty. The sauce. the toppings. A real beautiful array of flavors on my plate and the meat was so flavored and perfect. The restaurant is adorable too. Little heat lamps on the cute little patio. I’d definitely suggest you come in here for a gyro. I saw a lot of middle eastern people eating here too which to me is always a good sign. it’s definitely no Daphne’s. Anyway, go in here and get a party for your mouth. And to the woman inside. I hope some nice things come your way. Really.

TL;DR: Delicious gyros. Big portions. Very cheap. I’ve had my fair share of gyros in my lifetime(including Troy’s next door), so I had some high expectations for this place. Q’s Halal Chicken far exceeded these expectations in terms of price, size, and taste. This place was a little crowded on a Saturday night; every table was occupied when we walked in, which was annoying and promising at the same time. I ordered the gyro wrap for $ 7, and I didn’t realize how cheap my total was so I added 2 falafel balls for an additional $ 2. You could also opt to make the wrap part of a combo; for 3 extra dollars you can get waffle fries but I opted out of that. The wrap was so delicious. It contained so much tender gyro meat that you’re guaranteed to have pieces fall out with every bite. It is packed with crunchy lettuce and pickles, and then drizzled with their herb sauce and tzatziki sauce. It is very messy, so leave the foil wrapping on until you get to the end. And bring lots of napkins. The falafel balls are tender and crispy. Even though I ordered only 2, it came with a lot of extra spicy and tzatziki sauce. The falafel balls are green on the inside, which is different from the typical falafels I’ve had. I got a great cilantro flavor, which I enjoyed. Great taste, great prices, great portions. What more do you want? I’ll be there to try their gyro plate the next time I’m in Alameda!

This place didn’t disappoint in anyway. We ordered a variety of things… Every sauce and meat was delicious. Flavorful but not overwhelming. The veggies fresh. Quality ingredients. Good service. Highly recommend the gyro. Was filling and juicy. The chicken kabob lemon pepper goodness. The salads refreshing. The waffle fries are the perfect cherry to the establishment. Fresh meal with a kick of comfort fries. WAFFLE fries after all, are the king of fries. And they have cute little martinelli Apple juices… Loved the relaxed atmosphere, although I ordered to-go would def be comfortable saying in alone… Nice tv’s playing the game. Will have to make the short drive more often. Delicious.

Oh my gosh, this place is so good! Came by the day after Thanksgiving and after a killer chest day workout. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Alameda! I ordered the gyro wrap a la carte, and my bf ordered the chicken plate. We also tried the baklava at the cashier’s recommendation. I’m so glad that we did, because it was a heavenly piece of flakey pastry. I’ve never had this dessert before, and it really made me want five more! My bf’s chicken plate was juicy and massively portioned, this place is such good quality and good quantity! I got my gyro wrap for about 8 dollars I think, and it was big! I finished it but oh man it was filling. Just the right amount of lamb and veg. I think my bf and I will be visiting by after our gym days together. :) The spicy sauce is such a good kick too!

Very good food and fresh too. I love their chicken wings, lamb meat, and everything they include on their plates. I would give this place a 4 stars. It’s more of a fastfood place where you order your food, pick it up yourself at the counter, and clean it yourself kind of thing.

What the? How can they give out that much for the price? I left stuffed and there was a ton of food left on my plate. A few things I’m sad about: I didn’t eat the gyro philly previously mentioned in the Weekly Unilocal as best of the East Bay. I didn’t eat the chicken. Great reasons to go back, I know. I did mess with the gyro platter and I gotta say I was impressed. The gyro meat isn’t your typical thin shavings, these are straight up chunks. By far the meatiest gyro portion I’ve seen. The meat is oh so flavorful and tender to boot. Mix that with the delicious rice, greek salad the 2 sauces and the hot sauce? BOOYA. This meal which was almost the size for 2 was merely $ 10-$ 11. I wanted to try the falafel balls, so I ordered a few a la carte and at $ 1, these bad boys are huge. They’re also delicious. I loved every bite. Not dry, the perfect consistency with a ton of flavor, fresh out of the fryer. The spot is casual: Order at the register and wait for your food. There’s ample seating. Sit in or I’d recommend enjoying their lovely front patio adorned with hanging plants and flower pots. Everything is freshly made to order, so food can take a hot minute, but worth it! A definite Alameda gem that lives up to that Unilocal hype. I’d for sure come again if hankering for some gyro.

Regularly order the combo kabob(chicken and lamb gyro with basmati rice). Very moist, well seasoned, tender and a beautiful contrast to each other. Even though I’m full about half way through, I’m compelled to press on. Not so keen on the chutney. Also tried the Gyro plate(only lamb/beef mix) with extra meat, also good. Only complaint would be when i call in an order. i seem to get the same woman, and there is a challenge comprehending some of my order. But it could be me and my diction. Yet it’s certainly work. oh and i can never substitute for the garlic naan.

Q specializes in comfort afghan food. It’s great to get a gyro, but even more so to get those same thick cuts of beef in a Philly cheese steak loaded with peppers and cheese. While the portions are big and fresh, I have to give the gyro edge to Troy next door. Not to say Q is bad, but Troy’s pita wrap just comes out a little better.

We travel from Napa to get Halal food here. That should end the review. However, to be fair I will leave a more detailed review. So far we’ve enjoyed the chicken and gyro combo. That’s been our«go to» dish when visiting. We’ve also tried the chicken wings and that seems like a «hit or miss». 1 of 3 orders came out really good. The food does come out fresh as everything is made to order. Which also means that there is a little bit of a wait.(Remember this isn’t really Fast Food either.) They play local sports games on the two monitors and the ambiance is very casual. Indoor seating is cramp but the outdoor seating option is nice. Service is great at the counter. Cleaning of the tables is also a «hit or miss». Some rude customers forget that you are supposed to service your own tables. Overall I’d recommend it to family and friends.

A great Mediterranean/Afghanistan food place! This place definitely has a good reputation on Unilocal and people in Alameda like it including me. For me I like it because its a great location and good food. YES 1. Chicken Kabob Plate — very big chunks of chicken and comes with rice, it’s healthy and I like the green and white yogurt sauces it comes with. 2. Chicken Philly — its like a cheesesteak but with chicken, good stuff and its cheezy 3. Q’s Halal burger — not too bad but the sauce is kind of funky 4. Waffle fries are good NO 1. seating inside is bad, but they have some outside seating but its cold 2. long wait for food sometimes MAYBE 1. The mantu dumplings — my wife likes them but I don’t really like them.

Really love their combination plate — fluffy, gently spiced rice(coriander maybe?), juicy chicken kabob, shami kabob(amazing ground beef, mmm), salad, chutney, and a tahini. One of these delicious plates actually feeds two, unless you’re, y’know, a ravenous beast. Sandwiches and fries also look scrumptious, but it’s so hard to not order the combination plate when I’m there! Only one disappointment: I really want Q’s to cater my backyard wedding reception, but it turns out they only cater on the weekdays.
