Service here was great. Our server was constantly checking on us and refilling waters. We had a sampler platter or the apps, super good! It came with some potstickers, fried tofu(super yummy), juicy chicken wings, and 2 pieces of croquettes. The best part was the 4 types of sauces it came with! My fav one was a curry mayo sauce they had, I dipped everything in that one :) For ramen, I felt it was a bit salty and soup a bit thinner than usual. However, the condiments it came with were great. It came with a nice egg, corn, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, slices of pork, I think that was all? Overall I’d come back here again for the service and apps. Prices were also very reasonable! Ramen would have hit the spot if it was a tad less salty.

If youre looking for top notch ramen, this isnt the place. But, its not horrible. Its meh at best. Its nice to have around if youre cold or its raining. There were only 3 other people besides me, and the service was slow. But, the waitresses were nice. But frustrating when I wanted to leave.

Good vegetarian ramen. Very good and friendly service. Reasonable price. Unimaginable noise during a restaurant owners family party.

I was hesitated to tried it due to some of the reviews. But I turned out really liking this place. The portion size is good, the wait wasn’t very long. I ordered the vegetarian ramen with some hot chili paste, and the paste is REALLY hot!

They do their ramen well, it’s better than the ramen I’ve had at surrounding Japanese restaurants — and the staff is overwhelmingly friendly.

The place is nice! Had came here to try a new spot for ramen that’s closer than San Jose/Santa Clara area and found this spot. Passed by it a couple times and never thought about it until now. Read the reviews and was shocked it was at a low score. However, my experience was pretty good! I got the spicy chashu and my girlfriend got the miso. Like other reviews be careful of the spice it is pretty hot. Aside from that, food was good and tasty. I also took a sip of the miso ramen and had thought it tasted pretty good! I think people are being a little picky about this place since some places only serve two types of ramen but they are excellent at making them. In this case, they have a fair selection on ramen and broth. I highly recommend trying this place out before you disown it from the reviews. Good spot! Also, it’s open til 11 so everyone from oakland/alameda area don’t have to cross a bridge or drive 20+ mi for ramen.

I am not the biggest fan of Ramen but this was a very good place considering my feelings toward ramen. The wait staff was very friendly.

So… I admit… I have recently developed an obsession with ramen. It all started at Tetsu though. I have literally tried every ramen place within 8 blocks of my SF work… one place came close… but the Spicy Pork Chasu at Tetsu is like none other. The noodles have this chewy texture and glossy sheen that no one else seems able to achieve. The portions are large which almost guarantees you’ll also get a midnight snack out of it. Yum!

Really good ramen, great broth! They have veggie ramen with the fake meat that I love. Also a seafood option. Great service, waitress was even patient when hubby changed his order(as usual)

I have been here twice, my previous experience wasn’t amazing but after my second time I’ve decided this will be my go to ramen spot. Thankfully its 2 minutes away from my apartment! First of all the service is great here, our waiter was very friendly and advisable. We both ordered chashu ramen with tonkatsu broth along with the karage squid skewer and the chicken karage. The chashu ramen had a giant amount of chashu pork(6 slices) and came with the works and included corn topping. The ramen noodles were chewy and perfect. The tonkotsu broth was rich and comforting. The eggs were perfectly soft boiled.(Last time I came they were completely cooked, a no no for me when it comes to ramen eggs) I will be coming back and wouldn’t be surprised if I become a regular. Tips: — They have a great japanese micro brew stout. It is on the expensive side($ 10) for a bottle but is worth it as you can’t find it anywhere else. It was very smooth. — If you have a friend who isn’t interested in soup they have other offerings like rice plates and appetizers. — You can order extra of your favorite topping if you want to customize. –Spicy sauce is good as well, they let me try some. It is very spicy and I had to stop myself because my nose was dripping! Cons — Bowl of ramen costs $ 12. This is average for most places but be weary that this is not an under $ 10 meal.

Craving for good ramen and went to try Tetsu Ramen. Can’t hope for better. The Shoyu soup broth was delicious and the noodle is very fresh. Chef brought out a“on the house salad” and it tasted great. If it is on the menu, I would order it again. The kids had Chicken Katsu and just from the aftermath, I can tell they love it. Nothing was left on their dish except a bit of seaweed salad. The ambience of the restaurant is very modern and nice. The service was on point. Oh, you have to try the peach sake, it’s the bomb.

Not bad but not impressive. I ordered the shoyu, boyfriend got the kokastu, which looked and tasted pretty identical. Broth decent. Noodles didn’t feel authentic. Egg halves undercooked. Pork pieces tasty! Hearty seaweed pieces. Green tea was bland. Great service by our smiley waiter. Background music was classic rock… definitely takes away from the«japanese» vibe but not necessarily in a bad way.

Vegetarian success! Gave this place a second try and very pleased that we did. The veggie ramen has completely improved since our first visit. The broth is much more flavorful and the variety of toppings are unique while trying to remain authentic. I added a splash of soy sauce and a few shakes of the season powder. Veggie gyozas were tasty too!

I feel like others, this place is overprice. I didn’t Unilocal this restaurant which is I regret. What are we experience ; 1. Small Orion beer for $ 5 2. Ramune(kids drink $ 2.50) 3. A bottle of coke(don’t remember the price) 4. Shoyu ramen $ 12 5. Katsu Don $ 10(come with seaweed salad) 6. Gyoza(veggie) $ 5 Our total bill is 40.88 the service was great so we tip 15% but could be more if the food not so pricey. The restaurant is clean and nice set up. Staffs are friendly and nice(only 4 tables include mine) I’m ok with overall but one thing I have to point out is the soup too salty for me and all ramen pretty much the same ingredients just pork or chicken broth and spicy or not. Not too many choices.

Dropped by on Halloween for a hot bowl of ramen with my boyfriend to quell the chill from the cold, rainy day before walking down to the theater to watch Fury. We were greeted and seated right away because there was only one other couple in the restaurant, and I was pleased to find that the spicy chasu ramen was actually available to order this time. However, despite the lack of other customers, service was incredibly slow; perhaps they were making everything fresh to order, but again, when the ramen finally came out the broth was beginning to coagulate as though it had been served and then sat for a period of time before being brought out. The gyoza we ordered as an appetizer were very, very delicious and pretty generous in size, more akin to a potsticker than a gyoza and much better than the first time we ordered them. The spicy chasu was delicious and filled to the brim with noodles and pork, so much so that I couldn’t finish it all. Great flavors and just the right amount of heat that didn’t cause those flavors to be lost and covered up. The noodles were also more tender this time compared to my first visit here — in fact, overall the dining experience was much better. But while the service from our waitress/host(who seemed to be the only person on staff aside from the chef(s)) was pleasant, the inexplicably long wait for our food, for which she felt compelled to apologize, was odd, and the prices here seem steep compared to other ramen shops I’ve been to. For some reason, when the waitress cleared our bowls away, she didn’t bring us our check but instead went back to manning the kitchen/prep area, and after giving her the benefit of the doubt that she’d come back with the check but being proven wrong after a while of sitting and waiting, we had to flag her down and let her know we were ready to pay. Way better meal here this time, but still some kinks to work out in regards to service.

Tetsu Ramen is located where Kai’s used to be! I must admit that we do miss Kai’s. Our party of 7 came here one afternoon for lunch. We were seated right away by a nice young lady. Her service was really good. She had quite a good memory also. She memorized all of our orders, and everything was brought to our table correctly and in good time. My wife ordered the Unagi ramen. She thought that it tasted fine. It was filled with plenty of noodles and other ingredients. The broth tasted kind of bland, but still okay. The eel was placed on a separate plate and was good. According to her it was 3 stars for this entrée. I ordered the Tonkatsu ramen. My entrée was also filled with a lot of noodles and goodies inside. I also thought the broth was okay, and the ramen noodles were alright. The deep fried pork cutlet was disappointing to me. I’ve had much better in other restaurants. It did not seem like it was cooked all the way. 2 stars for my entrée. I did like the Green Tea ice cream. It was a great way to finish the meal!(4 stars!) The others in our party, though, were pleased with their meals. I am sure they would rate Tetsu Ramen higher than I did. I would not return here unless others wanted to. There are so many other good restaurants in Alameda, and many others that I want to try!

Tetsu is a new ramen restaurant on Park St in Alameda, right by the Jack in the Box(not an option for me). I like ramen but I have a difficult time paying $ 12 to $ 13.00 for it. Tetsu offers approx. 5 to 7 ramen dishes with most having pork in them, I ordered the ramen with the pork cutlet. The broth and noodles were both good but it lacked that kinda flavor that the other ramen restaurants offer. I like the brown egg and kikurage mushrooms that added texture. It wasn’t that crowded for a weekday night so they aren’t doing something right.

Finally got a chance to try this place out. We came here during lunch and I expected it to be crazy packed but it wasn’t. We ordered the Tonkotsu and Spicy Chashu Ramen. Both served with plenty of topping and huge portions. Decent ramen with good flavor. The toppings were a bit overpriced compared to other ramen restaurants. The service was fast because we were the only ones there. The waitress was also very kind and attentive. Its nice to have a ramen joint close to home. I can always come here to get my ramen fix when I’m too lazy to drive to my other favorite ramen spots.
