Date: 11÷2÷2015 Time: 1:05PM63° Partly cloudy My husband saw this business mentioned on his Facebook news feed page. He said they had sandwiches for $ 5.00. Okay, it sounded like a bargain to me, so we decided to check it out. I did not know what to expect from The Market Spot. The location is in a residential area. It has the feel of the neighborhood grocery store, which is convenient for people living within walking distance of it. It’s a typical corner store packed with grocery and sundry items, Ramen noodles, snacks/cookies, candies, chips, cold beverages, ice cream, etc. We walked in and the gentleman at the front counter directed us to the back of the store, as the butcher/sandwich maker was in back. Sure enough there was a menu board listing the $ 5.00 sandwiches and an illustration of them served on different kinds of bread(soft roll, French roll, Dutch crunch, sourdough, wheat and rye). The meat counter also had the big glass barrel with whole dill pickles, going for $ 1.00 each. Part of the refrigerated case was filled with rolls of pre-sliced cheeses, plastic containers of pasta, potato, jello and ambrosia salads. The sandwich selections were okay, but I was more impressed with the quality and value of their meats and chicken. Drawback: Store is on a corner lot. Street parking can be difficult. Prices are not displayed for grocery items on the shelves, except for 3 packs of Ramen noodles for $ 1.00. Tradeoffs: Reasonable priced sandwiches made to order, deli salads in plastic containers, fresh meats and poultry. Also I need to check how cold are their brews in the refrigerator. Return visit: Yes, for the meat and chicken legs and party wings.

I really like this place. Great sandwiches, reasonably priced groceries and friendly people. They have fresh avocados. Also, I have found that their meat meets or exceeds the standards of local grocery stores, so I would strongly recommend this place. Quite simply this is a great local resource.

Best sandwich I’ve ever had? Probably not. Best sandwich I’ve ever had for $ 5? Probably so. Throw in a heaping side of potato salad for a buck fifty, and what’s not to love. Go here!

The meat dept has improved their quality. Chicken is fresh and surfaces are clean.

I thought the sandwich was basic(nothing fancy), but excellent. It was MUCH better than Subway or other chains and the price was fair. People behind the counter are super friendly, too.

It’s OK for a $ 5 sandwich, I suppose, but I won’t be going back. Totally regular small market sandwich, stale bread. Don’t see what the hullabaloo is about.

From the front it seems like a standard little bodega with a fairly good selection for it’s size but bypass the front and you’ll find an old school deli counter in the very back that makes some of the best, most satisfying and reasonably priced sandwiches on the island. Skip that $ 5 footling at subway and grab pretty much any of the sandwiches they make here instead. I promise you’ll be much more satisfied.

The actual groceries are unimpressive, but the sandwiches are bomb! Will definitely a regular spot from now on. Corned beef and chicken sausage were both awesome. Service with a smile too! Can’t beat that.

You would be surprised with the sandwiches this little market conjures up. The BLT with avacado on a sweet roll is better than both sandwich shops I frequent on Webster and Park. The chip selection is great and you can buy a whole kosher dill pickle for just a buck. Sounds like a party? Oh… it is.

The sandwiches are actually 5 stars but had to take a star off for the lack of items on their shelves. Also lack variety in what they do stock. However, the family that owns it now keeps it much cleaner than it used to be. They have a small produce area too which is actually fairly well stocked. Great store for last minute items and now open til 9pm all days except Sunday ’til 8pm. Sandwiches are made to order in the back in the deli/meat market which has beef, chicken, pork, etc, and potato and pasta salads. I almost always get the Poor Boy, can’t miss with that!

I’ve become addicted to the fabulous sandwiches located in the back deli. I usually get the vegetarian on sourdough. It is the best in the bay, hands-down! The service is awesome and the food is so good! You won’t be disappointed.

My local market — has almost everything you need but doesn’t stay open after 9.

Seems like one of the best places on Lincoln to grab a few groceries. You’re not going to find any eye-popping deals, but if you really need milk then it’s probably the place to go.

Market spot has a deli, fresh market, grocery, some produce, generally everything an american and/or a chinese grocery would carry. lotto also. Yep, the beer: microbrew six backs competitively priced.(probably cheaper than whole foods). majority of mainstream beers and microbrew singles priced. 4 stars selection and pricing. pour: «1554», enlightened black ale, by new belgium(3.29 + =3.71) –220z, 5.6% alc –not so robust tasting, light refreshing yes. — on bottle«surprisingly bright taste and a dry, chocolaty finish-« –3 stars, beer was like this 500 years ago, deja vu.

This store is such a staple to this neighborhood. I love the people who run it as well as their products and prices. The fantastic cheap yummy sandwiches and barrel pickle are made in the back deli by joe… soooo good and this is a great place to buy your fresh deli meat. I shop at this store a few times a week. :)

Been going to this place since back in the day when you could get 4 loaves of Wonder Bread with a US$ 1.00 bill and still get some change back. I’ve seen it change owners through the years, and I’m happy it’s still around. Great people, great deli, and makes my life so much easier when I don’t feel like driving 25mph all the way to either Marina Village or South Shore. I won’t go to other«small» markets unless I’m forced. So, it’s either Market Spot or a big chain. I prefer to support local.

Been going here since I was a teenager, and their sandwiches have yet to fail me. I measure all sandwiches against this place, but nothing has come close. Eating one creates a little orgasm in my mouth. Have a sandwich here, you won’t be disappointed.

The Market Spot features many, many rows of exciting Asian convenience food, like Yan Yan. There is also a deli in the back, showcasing fresh meat and seafood. A small assortment of fresh produce can be found, along with lots of frozen dinners and refrigerated drinks. I personally purchased a very large box of Jiffy Baking Mix I never knew existed. I passed on the mammoth bottles of Garnier Fructis for sale up front… and the wine and spirits. There are wine and spirits for sale!
