Best place to get a massage in Alameda is at Harbor Bay Club at Bay Farm. The Massage therapists at HBC are all qualified and well trained. I usually make my appointment with Laurie. She is not only a massage therapist but also does body rebalancing and alignment. When I go to her to get a massage after playing tennis, I tell her where I hurt and she knows exactly where to manipulate the muscles to relieve the pain. When I walk out of the club after my massage, I feel like I’ve taken very strong pain medication. My pains are gone. To manage my pain she shows me what stretches and exercises to do to strengthen areas that cause the problem. I’m so glad I found someone who can help me continue to enjoy the sport that I love.

I came in the other week for a facial from Carrie and I was so pleased. Not only was the facial relaxing but i left feeling so clean and the feeling last for weeks! Carrie was sweet but her knowledge of skincare and skin treatments was out of this world. The room was warm and quaint and so quiet, which was so surprising especially when you see where the spa is placed at the club. Ill definitely come back!

The Spa at Harbor Bay is in a gym… and it feels like you’re in the gym. My deep-tissue massage with Laura was great(I would give her 4 stars) but I would not recommend the spa unless you are only looking for a quick fix to unknot muscles. If you are looking for more of a spa experience, try Sumbody. First, there was no one at the Spa Shop to check us in. One of the masseuses had to track the person down. Once we were checked in, we were provided robes — they were rather tired, not at all fluffy. We were given keys to the lockers — which is not in a separate area from the gym lockers so… instead of starting your spa experience with a nice smelling room, you changed into your threadbare robe in a sweaty smelling gym locker area that could probably use a really good cleaning. I then had to wait for my masseuse(because apparently no one told her she had an appointment). While Laura was great, the atmosphere was lacking. She played some nice music but I could hear the paper towel dispenser and lockers closing next door. The speaker on the radio was starting to get some static. There was no aromatherapy. The Spa feels like an after-thought. For example, in the sitting area, the note next to the hot water dispenser said that you need to get tea bags at the Spa Shop, which is down the hall. Really? I would never go back. It does not have the«feel» suggested in the website or the ads in the theater.

Just had a facial with Carrie Lopez today, a dermal peel. I am over 40, and have had facials since I was in my 20’s all over the world, including La Costa Spa in Carlsbad, CA. Since moving to Alameda I had trouble finding a good place, but I kept seeing the ads for the Spa at Harbor Bay at the Alameda theatre and thought I would give it a try. The facilities aren’t the greatest, the spa is at the far end of the gym and there aren’t Jacuzzis(at least not made available to me, a non-member of the club), pools, or gardens, so walking in I was skeptical. Also, the girls answering the phones and making appts did not seem familiar with the spa menu and were unable to answer some of my questions beforehand. But the inside rooms are lovely, with nice music and a relaxed atmosphere. Carrie Lopez, the Esthetician who took care of me, was amazing. She targeted areas and explained things to me that had always been a mystery, including some of the hyperpigmentation on my chin that I was most concerned about. I was so pleased with her diagnosis, her amazing facial that rivals La Costa Spa at HALFTHEPRICE, the fact that she sent me away with samples(did not try to push me to buy a bunch of product before giving me a chance to sample it at home– my biggest spa peeve), and she put together a plan for future services to fix my problem areas that is reasonable and customized. I just can’t say enough how much I recommend her as a skin care expert. I hope they pay her well because I need her to stay there a long time! Highly recommended.

I love going to the spa and seeing Felicia not only does she do a great facial, she is easy to talk to and makes the experience very relaxing. I have gone a couple different times and have different treatments. I have had a regular facial and one with the clarisonic. Each time Felicia explains what she is doing and using on your face. Each time I’ve left with my skin looking and feeling great. I also used to take my mom to see Felicia for some eyebrow treatments. haha since my mom would never do her eyebrows herself. Felicia always gave my mom the best brow shape. She would also tint my moms eyebrows. I highly recommend Felicia for your spa needs! She really is wonderful!

I have trouble with acne, and dry skin. I’ve gone here a handful of times for facials, and various other places as well, and I have to say Felicia is amazing! very friendly, and talented. my skin always looks, and feels excellent after I see her. The atmosphere is also excellent, very relaxing… I have never gotten a better facial anywhere else. I’d recommend this place to anyone that has skin problems, or is just looking to relax and get pampered. make sure you ask for Felicia!!!

I have dry and sensitive skin and I’m not used to pampering it. After getting some recommendations for skin care products from my sister(who works at a spa in Napa) I decided to shop locally. I found the Spa at Harbor Bay and came away very happy. The saleswoman was very helpful, she had her own awesome recommendations. Thank you, Felicia! My skin thanks you too!
