After years of considering martial arts, I was lucky enough to move to Alameda in 2004. Since my home was near the Bladium Sports Center, it made sense to look into a membership, especially once I’d heard that karate was included. I had no idea what I was getting into. This school is part of numerous programs throughout the Bay Area. Based on ancient Okinawan training and fused with a mandate to «learn from all things»(Wado Ki Kai), it became an important part of who I am today. Sensei Grant Butterfield and the numerous instructors share a passion for teaching, learning, and supporting one another. This is one big family that enjoys sharing tournaments, promotions, ball games, and beach workouts together. Never have I been surrounded by so many teachers focused on my success. Classes are held Monday and Wednesday at 7:30(Bladium), and Tuesday and Thursday(Mariner Square and Harbor Bay). You will find the most welcome environment for new students. Come for a sweat and stay for the lifestyle!

Évaluation du lieu : 5 Oakland, CA
As a martial art enthusiast, I was looking around for a good dojo to start up my training for black belt. I looked around at a few dojos in Berkeley and Oakland, but didn’t find a place that I felt would give me the training I wanted. After the first class with Sensei Grant Butterfield, I knew this was the place for me. I’ve been training with him for 2 years now and feel my balance and focus has improved tenfold. It’s a great class for students of all levels of interest in the martial arts. Each class is unique and the black belts are very good at instructing all the different levels of colored belts. Come to a class and learn basic self-defense techniques and work your way up to Kata & Kumite Sparring. It’s an excellent cardio workout and I always leave class feeling stronger.
