Aminda Modrell, DDS

I have my dental insurance through Anthem via Covered California, and was very excited that a dentist with such a kind secretary and clean office was available, in-​network, and so close by. However, PATIENTS BEWARE. I saw Dr. Modrell for a cleaning. It was great that she shared every detail about my teeth while she scoped them out with her camera, but the cleaning appointment took almost an hour and a half. While she was very kind and gentle, she told me I had SEVEN cavities that needed fillings. Unfortunately, my health insurance doesn’t cover work until I’ve been on the plan at least six months, so all 7 of those fillings were to come out of my pocket. She offered to break them into separate visits over the next couple of months, but still said it was necessary for me to get all 7 cavities filled… which would cost me almost $ 1000.
I felt skeptical, as I haven’t had any cavities in years and was cleared by a dentist in DC at my last cleaning six months ago, so I went to get a second opinion from a highly rated and recommended dentist nearby, who was not even in my network (that’s how skeptical I was). Turns out, both dentists in that office looked me over and informed me I actually had ZERO CAVITIES. They assured me that whoever I went to must’ve been looking for work to do, and that any fillings she would’ve done would be completely unnecessary work to my teeth.
I can’t believe I almost spent $ 1000 on fillings with Dr. Modrell when I really don’t need any. I think that’s dishonest, and I will be sure to tell everyone I know that they should not visit that office.

So far … GREAT! I’m deathly afraid of dentists and she made the experience a TON better than I expected.
I have not yet finished getting the crowns done — but so far — so good. Will update again when all is done!

I have never had a better dental experience than with Dr. Modrell and her staff. She is an extremely competent, gentle professional who will immediately lower any anxiety level that she encounters. She does everything possible to ensure that any level of discomfort or pain is reduced to a non issue. Absolutely lucky to be in her care, would hightly recommed her to anyone.

I recently visited Dr. Modrell and she was very professional and prompt with her prognosis of my situation and quick to refer me to an endodontist. Dr. Modrells’ staff was able to secure an appointment the same day with a Dr. that is in my network.

After two and a half months I was finally able to get the issue resolved with an awesome dentist in Walnut Creek. He told me that Dr. Modrell did damage to my tooth and likely caused me permanent nerve damage. Really, really bad experience, that turned into 2.5 months of pain. To make matters worse, when I got my refund she didn’t even sign the check and I had to go back in to have it signed in person. All up TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

Dr Modrell is an excellent dentist. She is extremely gentle, professional, and a very nice person. I always feel calm when in her chair, and so does my son, who is autistic– she is excellent with him. She does great work, and I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Aminda is an amazing dentist! I came to see her in a bit of a last minute emergency for my 7 year old son who had a rock thrown at his face on the playground at school and badly chipped his permanent front tooth. Dr. Aminda was very helpful about getting me in last minute to fix the tooth! She did an excellent job. No one even knows that his tooth was practically knocked out! We’ve been seeing her for some fillings as well and she’s very good with young kids, my son is not afraid to go see the dentist. Whole office is very pleasant and friendly!

I just got my teeth clean here, its a very clean place, the staff is friendly I would recommend this place so go and get your teeth clean!

I just became a patient for Dr. Osorio-​Modrell and was very pleased with the office. I needed a crown replacement and had a difficult tooth with a deep filling. Dr. Osorio-​Modrell made the procedure painless and she was very thorough in making sure the crown fit properly. Her office staff was also very friendly.
