For great experience, go to Shirley! She is fantastic at, color, and had a great demeanor. Both my parents and I have been going to her for years! She listens to your thoughts and gives positive feedback on your ideas. I highly recommend Shirley!

I posted a review three days ago as to my experience with this salon which was top notch along with their product availability and for some reason Unilocal removed my review. I’m starting to wonder if Unilocal chooses which reviews they will allow which ones they won’t. Unilocal should be a sounding board for good and bad reviews. Not choosing which reviews they will loan which ones they won’t. I give the salon and my hairdresser five stars. I love their products, I love their service and I love the staff. Let’s see if Unilocal allows this post to be posted and stay. If not, I will find a way to get to someone over there and file a complaint!!!

With a new year comes new thoughts and ideas on life changes and improvements. One thing I definitely WON’T CHANGE, is my hair stylist. Shirley, owner/​stylist at Salon Prive rocks! And so does my hair, thanks to her. I must admit that when I started at the salon over 1 year ago, I started on faith. Now I’m a Salon Prive/​Shirley client based on my own personal experience. All I have to say, is that if you want rockin’/healthy hair, visit Shirley and Salon Prive!

I came in to get a cut and hair treatment from Shirley. I love the job that Shirley did. She listened to what I wanted, and ultimately produced the results that I wanted with my hair. Shirley cares about her clients, and strives to make sure they are taken care of. She gives the best service! I would recommend Shirley and Salon Prive to anyone looking for the best experience.

My wife Alisha doesn’t have a Unilocal,but after her appointment last night with Shirley, she had to make sure I Unilocaled her experience for her. Alisha was so impressed and happy with the entire appointment from start to finish. The salons hours were very accommodating with her work schedule. Alisha was so pleased that Shirley listened to what she wanted and made great suggestions based on that. All in all, she absolutely loves the way that her cut and color turned out!

This is by far the best salon I have ever been to in my life!!! The owner Shirley greater me at the door when I walked in and assisted me in scheduling an appointment with her for like the next day. I explained that I was unsure of exactly what I wanted done to my hair but knew it was time for an upgrade in my look. Needless to say when I returned the next day she had all the FAB ideas about my new look she had spent time thinking about over night. I picked one and we went for it. While she was doing my hair we talked and talked about random things. She’s so funny and friendly, kinda felt like the big sister I always wanted… I come from a family of all brother thus the upgrade makeover. Most salons I used to go to we’re so rough with my hair even when I would say I have a sensitive scalp. Shirley was very understanding and gentle. Anywho when my hair was all done it was GORGEOUS!!! I loved it! I feel all brand new but still my same old self :)
As for the salon… Welcome to Salon bliss! I love how each stylist has their own personal room so it’s truly a one on one experience. There’s no salon gossip in the background like most places where the attention focus of your stylist is directed in a million different places… Just you and your stylist talking about you! it was very well decorated cozy and comfy. I will definitely be going back to this place and I recommend you do the same. Not to mention I saw there was an estitition there as well. What more could a girl as for… Hair and facials all in the same spot. Haven’t met the estitition yet but I heard from other people who have used her that she’s amazing as well. Trust me… Do not be a stranger to Salon Prive! Enjoy…

I honestly don’t know what the last reviewer was talking about. This is the only place I’ll get my hair done. The owner Shirley is the best. Everyone is so friendly and the salon is super cute. I love the private suites. You get to chat and your service is all about your needs. This salon does the hair of the Raiderettes and they have always looked flawless. This is for sure the premier salon in Alamo.

I must say this place is as much of a jewel as the owner herself, Shirley Smith! Her artistry is one of a kind which is why each client leaves looking and feeling tailor made.
My biggest pet peeve in dealing with previous salons is punctuality and functionality. From the moment you walk-​in her time is devoted to you from start to finish — no interruptions — and you never have to worry about someone else’s hands in your hair.
These days you see salons cutting corners on products, not here though. I’m in love with all of the amazing lines used in my hair such as Rene Furterer. During my last visit I stocked up on much needed shampoo, conditioner, thermal protection and a cute pink flat iron in support of breast cancer awareness month.
Last but not least, I must tell you about my most recent recruit, my mother. She was interested in Shirley’s permanent makeup services, specific to her eyebrows. During her initial consultation Shirley addressed my mother’s expectations and shortly thereafter returned for the finale. Boy, did her eyebrows turn out amazing! She used to pencil them in daily, but now she wakes up looking glamorous! I witnessed the entire process which was performed in a clean and sterile environment. My mom bragged about how painless the process was and we celebrated her new look with a little shopping afterward.
Shirley truly has a knack for perfecting beauty and her works speaks for itself! It’s been 6 years and I will NEVER go elsewhere, period.

Strangest salon I’ve ever been to. I went there a few months ago to get some products and see what services they had to offer and when I walked up I wasn’t quite sure if they were open because there was no-​one to be seen, the place seemed dark and, actually, closed.
But, the door was open so I went in there and there were two women sitting in chairs deeper in the store and they asked what I wanted. I told them what I was there for and they told me that they were out of it but to check back. No interest in assisting me, explaining what services they had available, when the product I was looking for might be in stock, etc.
There were no customers in there and it appeared to be only those two women and they seemed more interested in gossiping amongst themselves then in running a business or helping customers.
I went back a while later, thinking maybe that was just an off day and. .. it was even worse. Again it seemed closed but the door was open so I went in and this time, there was no-​one around. I called out and one of the hairdressers came out of a room and asked if she could help, I told her what I was looking for and she went to get the owner who, it turns out, was one of the two women I saw sitting around on my previous visit.
Again — no products in stock. When I asked about the different services they offered turned out that they really didn’t have anyone on staff other than hairdressers. No estheticians, etc.
So, I gave this place one star because Unilocal doesn’t allow no stars but, frankly, I’m not sure that the owner of this place is interested in actually running a business and building clientele. Her attitude was fairly indifferent to downright unpleasant and. .. there’s never any customers or products in there.
I’d say it was kind of creepy.
UPDATE — I just saw the owner’s comments which are bald faced lies. She doesn’t know who I am or what I was looking for but, she did send me a couple of messages begging me to change my review because of the potential impact. I refused because, what I wrote is true. Apparently this is her way of dealing with it. Her actions say it all.

Shirley, the owner, is amazing! She is extremely talented and professional. I won’t let anyone else touch my hair. Great salon!

Salon Prive is a very clean, upscale salon! The staff are very knowledgable and professional. The owner is known for her attention to detail and is able to work with ALL hair types. She has helped many clients with damaged, broken hair and is a color expert. I have seen the results. She is very knowledgable about hair and products and knows exactly what to use. She is also expert at makeup and permanent makeup. I am a dedicated client and have referred friends and family and seen the results.
