BIG Walmart. A sushi story, a hair salon story, a pharmacy story. This is about their sushi stand. First time, about four months ago, a long haired guy was making sushi, he did wear a cap, but his ponytail hung down his back. I bought a package, and when ready to eat it, pulled a long dark hair out of it. Went back, told an Oriental sushi lady about it, and she gave me a free package. And that package was dried up. I took a photo of that package, so I could show her if I saw her again, but haven’t. I just won’t buy sushi there any more. At Christmas 2014 time, a visiting relative went to the hair salon there while waiting for a pharmacy order. She has straight, shoulder length straight-cut hair and bangs. Her hairdresser, Hortencia, washed her hair, and dried it with a blower, and put some gunk on it. «Jane» didn’t like all the gunk, and asked that it be washed out, and no gunk put on it. So hairdresser did that, and dried it. ‘Tencia presented a bill for $ 45! She charged an extra $ 20 – 25 for the extra shampoo!!! Jane refused to pay it, and the hairdresser called the Alamo police department. Two policemen arrived. They called the owner of the salon, and she said to NOT charge the extra shampooing. So that’s what happened. But can you believe a hd would do that??? And, the pharmacy story… Jane called, and this WM said they had the order for her. So she stood in line to get it, and they didn’t have it. W-M couldn’t call any other W-M to see if they had it, so Jane and hubby had to do it by phone. Found one in McAllen. They drove there, and THEY didn’t have it, either, tho their computers said they did. They said the Alamo one had it. So back they go to the original Alamo WM, and stood in line again, and Alamo W-M said wait 30 minutes and it will be ready(that’s when the hairdressing event occurred). So they had it all along!!! I have had other out of town guests tell the same type of pharmacy stories in the Weslaco area, too. If you order a pound of sliced meat or cheese from the deli, they give you half as much, or twice as much as ordered. So check what the deli person gives you. Or ask for half as much as you want! I am really happy because they now added my favorite donuts for sale in a case, and an assortment! Such as plain, cherry, glazed cherry, chocolate covered, etc. And speaking of donuts, our mobile home park always has donuts from there, and the best ones look like a maple bar, with some swirly icing on top. they are filled with custard, and every bite is such a delight! Bought a package of strawberries, and looked long and hard at packages to make sure they looked ok. So the next day, getting them ready for a party, the bottom half were moldy! They wouldn’t refund my money, or give me a gift certificate, bc I didn’t have my receipt. But that store only sells one brand. A new kid who just started in the produce section, told me to shake packages to make sure there are no little flying bugs in there. And it’s ok to open and restock a box of strawberries, just to make sure they are edible. I still like this W-M. It’s got lotsa stock, is easy to get around, as clean and organized as a WM can be, close to me. I ring Salvation Army bells there during the season.

I have visited this Wal-Mart but I try not to because Walmart is the devil. Pipes money out of our community and away from local businesses, actively works to subvert workers rights and unions, and enslaves the third world. I try to avoid it at all costs. This Wal-Mart is the same as any other inside, on almost any continent; I find that uniformity oppressive and reminds me of the way they see people: mindless consumers willing to sell each other out to save 2 cents on a set of plastic mixing bowls.

Wal-Mart at its best, recently renovated, IBC Bank, McDonalds and a place to send your wife or girlfriend to get her nails done why you hit electronics and automotive departments.

This Wally-World has been remodeled, and usually has the cheapest prices around. There is also a IBC Bank, Nail Salon, Photo Studio, Eye Center, and McDonald’s inside. Get a gift card and save 3-cents/gallon on gas at their gas station.
