Great to have another food option type in Alamosa. Need to try more of their menu but haven’t gotten there yet because I am always swayed by their tasty gyros and falafel. Very friendly service.

I love Acropolis! I went there the first time because I was super excited to see a different kind of restaurant open in town, and have been back several times since because the food was so good. I’m by no means a Greek food connoisseur, but I’ve had their falafel, gyro, and greek salad along with some appetizers and desserts and loved all of it. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the mood for something different.

Sat down and was all psyched to have the gyros plate– until I learned from the cute waitress that they don’t have a liquor license yet. Next time

I ate here with my husband. I was excited to see another type of restaurant come into Alamosa, besides Mexican, and I love Greek food. I ordered the hummus for an appetizer. The plate came with a mountain with hummus and 4 pita bread slices — 2 for each of us. It was ok, not the regular tasting hummus I’m used to tasting, but I kept an open mind. My husband had the dinner gyro plate and I had the moussaka plate. My husband really liked his plate. I was glad to see another review on here for moussaka being bland. I thought it was just mine that had smooshy eggplant and everything else was bland. The salad seemed to be okay. The saving grace was the baklava, which was awesome! I’ll give it another chance, and maybe this time order something different.

This was just what I’ve been missing! I had delicious Greek food everyday when i lived in Los Angeles, California. This restaurant knows what it’s doing! The food is tasty, the service is excellent! They are fast, friendly, and personable! Wonderful food with wonderful people. Large delicious portions will not leave you hungry. You can’t ask for a better experience. Take your family and friends. No paper napkins or plastic forks here!

This is a new restaurant; I’ll give it another chance, and possibly another star. The service was friendly and attentive. However: 1) I ordered the moussaka, a dish I have enjoyed in many Greek restaurants. I did not enjoy it here. Some of the eggplant wasn’t cooked, and there seemed to be no tomato sauce. Maybe this was a different style. Pretty bland, very little meat. 2) My Mom ordered a chicken gyro; they brought one with falafel. She has dementia, so she started eating it. Didn’t complain. 3) My Dad got the meat pie, which was seasoned ground beef on top of little pitas. Bland and dry. All of the above were served with grease-laden fries. The moussaka was also served on top of pitas. How much starch is required in one meal? Maybe they’re just appealing to the demands of the local obesity epidemic. All in all, the worst Greek restaurant I have eaten in. But I’ll give it one more try, they’ve only been open a short time and it would be nice for Alamosa to have a bit more variety in restaurants.

So coming to Alamosa, I realized there were a number of Mexican restaurants around, a couple of Chinese, but no place that serves Gyros, my personal favorite food. So how excited was I to know that a gyro place just opened up– Acropolis. Went here for dinner tonight, and in a word was delicious. Starting off with the décor, it was very comfortable and traditional which gave it a nice feel. Ordered appetizers– hummus, baba gannoush, grape fruit leaves, and falafel. It was A LOT. the portions are huge, and they were all very tasty(my personal fav being the falafel; crispy and super yummy) I ordered the gyro plate dinner, which was a mix of lamb and beef. Now I’ve tried gyros all around the country, from California to NJ to Chicago. And I must say the gyro meet at Acropolis was one of the best. The meat is juicy, tender, and not super salty. It’s just right. I think the owner really knows what’s he’s doing. The portion was HUGE I honestly couldn’t finish it. But that’s fine I’ll have it for lunch tmro :) moving on to dessert– I had the baklava and my husband had the fried cheesecake. The baklava was, in all honesty, super delicious. It must have been homemade because it was perfect, very authentic. The fried cheesecake was also very tasty, and very unique. It’s something I’m likely to get a craving for randomly! Overall, I would honestly give this place 5 stars. It’s really a restaurant I would recommend to everyone. In a city full of Mexican restaurants, I think this is a welcome breath of fresh air. Do try it!
