Awesome staff and food was great… Only reason for four stars is that the menus could be a bit more descriptive. I ordered the cheese burger egg rolls and was not aware there are pickles in them. Also the wild grains rice has berries in it. While that may be a favorite for some it was not with my fiancé … However everything else was great.

It just keeps getting worse. The entire restaurant smells, all your food comes out at once. It was acceptable until the manager did nothing but blame others for his short Cummings. Anyone in management should know its your fault, because you are responsible for managing it.

This was one of the slowest meal deliveries of my life. It took two hours to get my food. That’s no appetizers or desserts. I had to remind my waitress of my order multiple times. I witnessed multiple arguments with customers. It was a disaster from go. The food was ok.

First let me give props where due… the hostess was spot on. After that things went downhill. We went on a Sunday, so being busy was not really an excuse. After waiting about 10 minutes to be approached by the waiter(who had to have been new so I’ll cut him SOME slack), we placed our order(pitcher of beer, apps, soup, salad and entrée). Beer took forever. I guess the bartender was too busy watching tv because there was maybe 2 guest at the bar and a total of 6 tables full in the restaurant. Then the entrees came out complete with overcooked steak. Then the apps. Still no soup or salad. We asked for the manager who obiviously didn’t give a damn. She was busy making copies for the 8 top. She stopped by briefly to ask how things were and when we told her got no apologies on excuses that the waiter put the entrees in first. I’ve worked in a kitchen and that was a BS excuse and then offered to recook the steak. The manager on duty needed to do a lot more to connect with her customers. not just the ones she seemed to know. I know I overheard the table behind us complaining too. Such a departure from the Applebees I go to at home. The waitress there is the baraometer by which I compare all waitstaff. I kind of felt sorry for the waiter. He was at a loss with no support from management. $ 10 off was given and if a sincere apology was given I would have washed my hands of it… but the lack of sincerity or even concern about my experience will ensure when I go to Albany again I will not eat there.

this is the first negative review i have done for a restaurant — normally I will forego writing about a place I didn’t really care for — but i can’t believe the horrible experience I had here — normally it’s bearable but tonight was the last straw — to start off with i never got my salad that came with the entrée and after bringing it to the waiters attention(after he placed the entrée on the table) he apologized and said he would bring me one then — why am I going to let my food turn cold to eat a salad??? — then I attempted to open my silverware and the napkin was fused shut with some kind of brown stuff inside it — then the«manager» came by to check on me(3minutes later) and offered once again to bring me a salad and realized I didn’t have silverware so grabbed some off the other table — when I opened it with her standing next to me this pack was dirty as well — so her reply was would you care for some plasticware — really… — after 5 minutes of waiting for clean silverware I finally got some and was able to start my meal — about half way through the waiter brings me my salad… my meal was comped in the end but I will not be back

I just had the single worst dinner experience of my life… Sunday afternoon, plenty of open seats, and yet it took for ever. We waited at at least 10 minutes to order drinks and at least another 20 to place our food order. When the drinks finally arrived most of ice had melted. The food took 90 minutes from the time we arrived to be served. The food was poor in quality and portion and looked nothing like the pictures. All the plates were dirty on the bottom, indicating they had been stacked. This means out food was all contaminated by the plate bottoms from above. When the Manager was informed she only comped a fee of the meals. Please see my picture to see what a 12 $ meal looks like. This is exactly how it was presented. UNSAT.

We were seated fairly quickly and actually had a good waitress last Friday night. Amber R., as is says on the receipt, was courteous and professional. Food came out pretty quickly and was good, not great. The most annoying thing to complain about was that the music was almost too loud to hear ourselves talk. I don’t mind some background music while eating, just not front and center above the conversation. If the music is that loud, I’d prefer it be a live band. Also, didn’t notice until on the way out but their kitchen score was an 85, which is borderline for me not eating there, depending on what the violations were. Side note: noticed that there was hardly any diversity among the staff. Overall a satisfactory experience for a group of three on a Friday night. My wife and I have been in the Albany area for about a year and have been to many restaurants. We are usually disappointed by the lack of customer service. Tonight we were pleasantly surprised how kind Lauran W was and the service she provided. Her suggestions were exactly what I was looking for. The quality of the service matched the quality of the food; they were both great! Because of Lauren we will be returning.

Food is alright, but the service is horrible. I was sitting at the bar and I waited almost 30 minutes to pay for my meal before I was finally acknowledged by one or the servers. Even while sitting at the bar, I kept getting a revolving door of waitresses and waiters instead of sticking to one waiter/bartender which made it very difficult for establishing rapport… and not one of them checked in to see if I was good. Due to this experience, I was getting the feeling that my patronage was rather unimportant. There is an old Japanese proverb that every service-oriented job, not just restaurants, should always keep in mind: «The customer is God». It means that a business cannot flourish and thrive without customers. As a manager and even as a server/cashier, you should be doing everything in your power to keep the customers coming to your place of business. Otherwise, you’ll risk losing them to competitors. I don’t think that I will be back anytime soon.

Had to send my meal back twice because potatoes were not done. Arrive for dinner at 5 and finally had meal corrected at 6:30. Britnie our server was a champ through the whole ordeal she was a pleasure even though issues with the meal.

I’ve given this place several tries to redeem itself however the service is slow and the kitchen is even slower. On top of this, the food itself is poor. One of the worst steaks I’ve ever had.

I must say that the service that we received last night was simply awesome. We were reluctant to go at first because of the crowds that normally hang our here but I am glad that we changed our minds. We walked in and sat at the bar. We were greeted by a really nice bartender by the name of Sam. She was very helpful in suggesting a drink for me to try since I am not an experienced drinker. Our dinner order was taken quickly and because of our oversight Sam quickly reminded us that it was happy hour and showed us how to spend HALF of what we were going to originally spend. We were happy of course! The manager Jeff was simply awesome. He came over and greeted us with a smile. He’s new to the area but really seem to love his job. He has a very pleasant personality. Because of the great service we received we spent more $ and stayed longer enjoying the pleasant atmosphere. I don’t live here in Albany but have come to Applebee’s on several different occasions and have always received mediocre service. This visit was the total opposite. We told friends about the great service we received and when I am back in the area I plan on coming back to Applebee’s IF Sam and Jeff are working! Kudos to you both!

Looks like one star is the minimum rating. Zero is more like it. Twice in the last two months I’ve been there, seated, and unserved. Tonight my first clue should have been the apathetic hostess. Both times I finally gave up and went to Outback. The difference is astonishing. FWIW, I’m crazy for the Applebee’s Oriental Chicken Salad. Too bad I can’t get it.

Waited 10 minutes before we had somebody ask is we’d had our drink order taken. 5 minutes later, we were about to leave when we saw the young man who took our drink order talking to a young woman(waitress?) who was starting at us with a puzzled look on her face(making us very uncomfortable) the whole time he spoke to her. We thought she was going to come take our order, but then she disappeared into the kitchen. The young man came over and said he was sorry, he was in training and didn’t know what was going on, but he was going to take over and take care of us. Well, he did a very good job. The manager eventually came out to ask us how everything went, but really she was too little too late. She’ll be lucky to keep an employee like the one we had waiting on us as clearly few if any of the other employees there were worth hiring to begin with. Management is the real issue here, and it has been so at this location for some time. Try Roosters right down the street, you’ll be much happier.

Stopped by Applebees on a shopping jaunt with a friend in early evening on a Saturday nite. Got seated promptly, waiter was very attentive to take our order. My friend was on a very restrictive diet and we found that except for the weight watchers section there were no healthy choices, and even the weight watchers menu left little to be desired. No low fat or fat free dressings except ranch… ugh…fat free ranch is awful! It took forever to get our food while those around who came in after got served. I had a treat and got the boneless buffalo chicken appetizer for a treat and a side ceaser salad. They didnt bring out the salad before the entrees were served and our waiter vaporized from sight after taking our order. I only got one refill on water and that was half way through the meal. My friend ordered the weight watchers grilled chicken which came out dry and the steamed veggies were virtually raw… not steamed. The manager did come by the table and apologize for the delay in getting our food and offered no discount or compensation for our extended wait. My boneless buffalo wings were good, but that is about all that was good about the visit. I have found that all Applebees and notorious for slow service and was hoping that I would find this one the exception… and it wasnt. Expect slow service, average food and an average $ 12 per person price for a not so nice dining experience.
