Apropos Prom and Bridal

Apropos was unfortunately the singular point of stress and chaos in planning my wedding and truly ruined the experience of bridesmaid dress shopping for my sisters and best friends. While I don’t want to simply bash this establishment, I do believe customers should be informed of the issues we faced. Staff do not know how to deal with pregnancy as they were incredibly rude in discussing weight fluctuation and pregnancy itself with two of my bridesmaids. We ordered 6 (fairly expensive) dresses and once they came in and 3 girls went to try them on we realized that one was different, the owner then tried to say that they were the same, while the girls were dressed in them and could clearly tell that the backs were significantly different. Apropos was then supposed to order one girl another dress and ship it to her for free as she lives out of state and it was their error; it does not appear that they ever ordered another dress as this girl waited for weeks and was given the run-​around about the dress being in the warehouse or about it being shipped «soon.» I finally had to go in twice to get the dress myself (it was in the warehouse the first time) and to our surprise, when my friend went to have it altered on her own given the limited time frame and our distrust of Apropos, her seamstress found that she had been sold a sample dress (no French seams and the «sample» tag was still sewn in) in a size bigger than what should have been ordered, at full price which was not what she had agreed to. She attempted to speak to the owner about this but the owner just denied responsibility for this fraud. Another bridesmaid went to pick up her dress and was told she owed $ 40 for alterations despite the fact that alterations were said to be included; apparently the staff independently decided to send her dress for alterations twice without her knowledge and imposed this fee without notifying her — the owner only waived the fee, seemingly to save face, when I began to bring up our multitude of problems in front of other customers. Throughout this experience, the litany of excuses were endless and seemed to stem from the lack of organization and the fact that they take in more business than they can reasonably handle, presumably just to make money. While initially trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, I cannot recommend Apropos and would actively discourage anyone from even wasting their time looking there.

Save yourself and your daughter or loved a lot of trouble and never set foot in the store. My first impression of their terribly chaotic inventory system, which consists of various notebooks and pieces of paper scattered all over the desk should have alerted me to leave and never come back. Unfortunately, Cindy and her staff will find you or your loved one the perfect dress or dresses in my daughters case and you’ll leave feeling like your in great hands. Great hands until your first event date is approaching and you start calling and your dress still hasn’t arrived only to be told «it will be any day, we will call you» you neve receive the phone call so you start calling back and their phone is continually busy (maybe off the hook) and when you do get through your told «it should be in in a few days, we’ll call you.» When the dress arrives 2 days before the event you have no other option but to let them do the alterations which are horrendous, the dress is in terrible shape with the jewels falling off and needing to be glued on at home. We complain and assured that we will not have the same problem when her graduation gown is due to arrive… we don’t because her gown never arrives and she’s forced to wear something that she never picked out or likes because it’s 3 days until graduation and she has nothing to wear. DO NOT SHOP AT APROPOS

This is not a professional establishment trust me go some place else!!!
Don’t ruin your special day with shopping at Apropos Prom & Bridal.
Please look at the reviews they are awful and their repairs are nightmares.
The owner Cindy does NOT have your best interest at heart for your special day!!!
She is a liar and a cheat!!!

Great service — they were able to order the wedding dress that I picked out online, and called me to let me try it on as soon as it came in to the store. They helped me pick out a veil, but I wasn’t ready to decide that day — when I called back a few months later, they immediately knew me and what veils I had tried on, and ordered it for me right away. Very attentive, great experience!

We had a wonderful experience in our visits to Apropos. First, to be measured for the bridesmaid dress we were ordering second for the fitting when the dress came in. The staff was incredibly nice, attentive and helpful. I would recommend this store to anyone.
