Cummings Robert DMD

I have been going to this dentist for years and always had a good experience. Staff is friendly (It’s always nice to see Rosie), efficient, and gets to know you when you come often so it makes going to the dentist something I don’t dread. Wait times are short, and Dr. Cummings is a great dentist and has been a perfectionist when filling and altering cavities.

Not a fan of dentists, but this office is amazing! So friendly! Everyone makes you feel so welcome and relaxed! Dr Cummings was gentle and explained everything. I would proudly recommend this office to anyone.

A real rip-​off. Went there for a cavity and got my tooth pulled out… and replaced with a piece of plastic that broke in less than 2 years (really?)
on top of it Mr. cummings refused to release my dental papers… Cannot believe the practice in that office. A nightmare!

Note that despite the 2* rating, I still use this guy; seeking new dentists is not high on my priority list :).
So why the poor rating? Not for Robert Cummings himself — he has exceptionally gentle hands, is communicative and responsive, no issues with care at all. He’s the reason I return.
Moreover, the reception/​appointment staff are really first-​rate and friendly.
BUT: the hygienists are far from gentle and patronising (that’s the worst aspect); there is a strong tendency (in my opinion/​experience) to recommend work that may not be needed (for example, two prior fillings «show cracks and need redrilling urgently» — well, that was a year ago and still no problem, thanks); and the place is rather run-​down, with no distraction (TV, or even pictures to look at) during the time in the chair. Not terrible, but no reason to really recommend.

You know, I would have given my dentist a standard 3* for being a stand up guy that runs an honest operation. But then I got a cavity.
This may be surprising to some, but I’m not a tough guy.
I spent most of my life cavity free. Then some time in my late 20s I had a really bad experience getting a few cavities filled. Actually they were my first and last cavities. That is until recently.
Dr. Cummings numbed me up and it was done before I knew it.
Can’t say I’m an expert on getting fillings. And I can’t say that I’m eager to get another one. But I am very glad that the one I needed was not traumatic.
