We were looking forward to eating a great poboy from this place. We had tried other places in the area and wanted to give this place a try, too. We ordered from the outside window. The service was confusing and rushed. We ordered an oyster poboy. The girl turned to someone and yelled, «Do we sell oyster poboys!?» She turned back to us and said, «We don’t sell ‘em.» They are on the menu, but they don’t sell them. They have many signs on their windows stating they sell oyster poboys, white gravy, and other items. So, we ordered the chicken fried poboy with the white gravy on the side since they advertise it so proudly on the window. When our order was FINALLY ready(after 30 minutes, AND I had to ask about it being ready, it was sitting on a tray and getting cold), I had to ask about the gravy on the side that they had forgotten. The lady in the kitchen shouted, «If it’s white gravy they want, we ain’t got any!» So they gave me some kind of brown gravy that looked like brown grease. It wasn’t aujus or brown gravy. This place deserves no stars, but that’s not an option on Unilocal. We will not return to this restaurant. We received terrible service, items listed on the menu weren’t available, it took entirely too long to receive our order, the staff was not friendly, AND the food wasn’t even good after going through all that. Don’t waste your time or money.

I was introduced to the Sandwich Shop by a local when I moved here. It is about five minutes outside of Hammond’s city limits, but it’s worth the extra few miles down 190! This is where you go when you’re craving a something cheap and simple«that hits the spot» when everything else around you just doesn’t. One of the best items is a burger; you can get a small(one patty) or large(two patties). They grill it just right! There isn’t much on the«healthy» side, but their Erdey salad is worth a mention! It is an enormous chef’s salad topped with roast beef and popcorn shrimp! It is big enough for three people! Aside from food, they also have soft serve, shakes, and sundaes! There’s a walk up window if you don’t feel like coming inside, and they usually offer daily lunch plates. Don’t forget to order a «cup of cheese» for your fries!

Stopped here for the first time today and had a roast beef po boy. Delicious! Great little drive in. Some seating inside. Staff was friendly. I’ll be back again for sure
