First Burger

While traveling through Albany my two girls and I met a friend for lunch at First Burger. My burger was decent. I ordered grilled cheese for my 18 month old daughter. It came with barely melted, what looked like Velveta cheese. It was cut in half when it arrived and I proceeded to cut it into quarters so she could eat it easier. At that time I noticed something green on it and just picked it off so she could get eating. As she continued to eat, my friend and I noticed green/​blue in several places. We told the server about it and she went back to the kitchen. They informed her the «cheese» was cut with the same knife as the avocado and that’s what we were seeing. However this was also on the portion of the sandwich I cut. We had paid for out bill already when the owner came out. He assured us it was avocado and not mold. He gave me a $ 10 gift card and said sorry. Fast forward to today… My 18 mo daughter has terrible diarrhea. It was mold! Unfortunately, the only picture I have to show is a picture of her raw behind from it.

So delicious! Every time I go it’s always amazing! My family took me for my 30^th birthday, there were 5 adults and 3 kids and none of us left disappointed.

We go to Albany about once a year, and this is always our first stop, on our way to Garlands Nursery. The hamburgers and the service are outstanding. I don’t know if these women are being paid well, but it’s nice to be greeted with a smile, and continued smile during our lunch. The French fries and onion rings are top notch. And just one other thing our plates were hot so our food stayed warm, I don’t know if this was intentional but for us it was great. We will return.

Great little burger joint. Not much seating so they can fill up hella quickly. I had one of their specialty burgers. These things are a decent size and packed with flavor. I definitely enjoyed my meal. My oldest daughter really likes this place. Pricing is good and I really liked the fries.

Wow! Hands down the best burgers and fries we’ve had in a LONG time. I had the Ironwoman (cilantro on a burger = yummm) and my husband had the Bacon Gucamole. AMAZING flavor and fresh ingredients. We’re from Springfield, and this place would be worth the drive!

First time visit with guests in town. Great burgers. Friendly helpful service. Fair prices. Enough said.

Good burger joint. My burger had great theme/​toppings (California Burger) but the burger patty wasn’t as flavorful as I like. A bit bland even after I added salt. Was really excited that I could order a burger with a gluten-​free bun!

Wow! Excellent burger. Very juicy and a ton of flavor. Will make the trip to eat there again.

Ok, wow. I’ve never had such a delicious burger as the one I had from First Burger, and I don’t even like burgers that much! The patty was juicy and flavorful, and the buns were soft and warm. Can’t go wrong with a burger here. It’s a good thing the restaurant is not walking distance from my house; otherwise, I might be there all the time.

Fun family place to get nice big burgers, food came very fast, might be better than red robin!

I like food. Some days I just crave a really good burger. Those days First Burger is there to save me.
Taste: I have had only one burger better, the ones my grandma has made by hand. They use deliciously juicy meat, fresh veggies, and plenty of salt. Nothing is better than Fries so salty you have to drink a gallon of water to finish them.
Price: I will say, it’s not a cheap burger joint, but they are worth it. A burger with fries and a drink is usually $ 9-​$ 15.
Options: My family has a lot of dietary restrictions. My mom is gluten free and on weight watchers, and my dad is on low carb. It’s hard to find places all of us can eat happily. They offer gluten free buns, lettuce wrap, and beside their beef patty, ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ patty (half beef, half bacon), and buffalo patty, they serve chicken breast sandwiches also. Most places that serve chicken breast burgers way over cook the chicken and make it very dry. Not first burger. Your chicken breast sandwich will but just as juicy and messy as someone’s ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ patty.
Drinks: They offer a wide range of drinks, from soft drinks, to amazing milk shakes, to plenty of beers and ciders on tap. They even have coffee and teas. When my friend and I are sick, it’s our favorite place to go. Their milkshakes will make any sore throat feel 100 times better.
Service: If you’re looking for a place with happy, goofy waiters and waitresses. Last time I was there the guy was singing and dancing along with the radio as he poured our water. It was just the pick me up we needed. They are great people, serving great food.

Came here for Lunch on a Thursday. We’ve been here before and I have yet to write a review for it until now. The burgers are really good. The meat is always cooked well and is hot when you get it. The topping options are varied and are always fresh. I like the mustard sauce they put on the bun but my wife does not as it upsets her stomach. They are really good about not putting it on her burger when she requests it. The beer selection is good although it could be colder when it comes out (always seems to be a little on the warm side by a couple of degrees).
Get the deep fried pickles, they are awesome.
The only gripe is the fries. I personally don’t care for them as they always seem to be overdone and hard. So much so that they can cut my mouth. It can be loud in the restaurant when it’s busy because of the hard wood floors but I don’t mind that. The wait staff are on point and do a good job of attending to the tables. The kitchen is fast. We will definitely be back and recommend First Burger whenever someone asks where a good burger is in town.

I just went in to place to go order. I’ve been in the restaurant industry for 20 years, and I owned my own restaurant in Arizona. I have never ever ever heard anyone turn away a to go order saying that they no longer taking to gos because they are too busy. You never turn away service no matter what. They should be ashamed of themselves especially because I’m a paying customer who was coming in there often. I will no longer go here again. I don’t do well with bad business

I love you, First Burger. And in an area FULL of burger options, that says a lot.
Sweet potato fries are the best.
Often busy, but that means staying in business, so YIPPEE for busy.

Okay, so first off, I am only a visitor to Albany. My boyfriend moved here a year ago, and when I come to visit, we enjoy finding a good eat somewhere.
We only first tried First Burger a little over a month ago, but went back again tonight. Two very successful dinners. The first time we didn’t realize the closing time, and we arrived probably about 30 minutes before closing. They were still very polite, served us, and had time to come over and chat with us.
So, the food. I am a bit of a burger snob, as I’m from Bend and we have well-​known burger places like Bend Burger Co. and Pilot Butte Drive-​In. This lived up to expectations. I was simple and got a bacon cheeseburger with the works., along with a Calapooia root beer and fries. So tasty, and may I say it was a steaming hot burger– like there was visual steam seeping out from the patty. Any who, super delicious. The other two guests with me, two very hungry guys, were satisfied with the food too. There were a lot of customers in the restaurant, but there was plenty of customer service on our table back by the kitchen.
As for tonight, it wasn’t packed, but there was good turnover. I had to reorder my original order because out of pure deliciousness. My boyfriend ordered the Juicy Lucy special. We sat and waited for our food for close to 25 – 30 minutes. My boyfriend complained to me, but not to the waiter. Our waiter was nice enough, probably 20 minutes in, to come over and tell us that it was close to done. When our food finally arrived, it was so good, and steaming hot. We were seated right by the POS system and counter, so there was a point when our waiter was speaking to a coworker and then turned to us to apologize because the cooks were going very slow tonight.
Overall, I would come back to the place just about every time I’m here. Not only is the food good, but the staff remembered us and it is really just a nice environment. Not to fast paced or anything. Highly recommended from a self-​professed «burger snob.»

Great service and good burgers! Even the fries were delicious. Now, they didn’t asked how I wanted my burger cooked, which most specialty burger joints I’ve been to have, but it was still juicy even well done.
They have a great local beer selection too, or so says my boyfriend. But I guess most places here in Oregon do: P
Would definitely return here for my burger fix!

Best burger we’ve had in a long time
We went out on a limb and tried the new @ Elvis burger. This burger had bacon, peanut butter and bananas. Weird you say! Yes, but this was the most amazing tasting burger. I shared it with my son and wished I’d have gotten my own. The fried pickles were to die for too!

First Burger serves some pretty solid burgers within the Albany area. The patty itself wasn’t dry, but wasn’t as juicy as I would have liked it to be. I went with the Iron Woman as it seemed somewhat unique without being too far out there. While I’ve had better burgers, as I am a burger fiend, this one was solid satisfaction. My favorite part was the bacon. The bacon was perfectly crispy and not too thin. They were generous with the cheese as well. It wasn’t one of the best I’ve had, and not within top ten, but it was overall a good burger and I recommend trying it. If I come back, I will probably go for something more unique or perhaps one of their specials.

Sue and I were heading down to Cottage Grove for the holiday weekend and while on the road we both started getting cravings for milkshakes. That ended up morphing into cravings for burgers. It is a natural progression afterall. I was driving so Sue ended up doing some Unilocal-​vestigating (my new word) and that is how we ended up at First Burger in Albany.
I judge a good burger on how juicy it is and how difficult it is to eat while making a complete mess. Sue judges her burger on how neatly she can eat it. We both won out.
We both started out with chocolate milkshakes ($ 4.25 each) as that is what we first started thinking about. The milkshakes come in small glasses, but they give you the rest in the metal container straight from the maker. We ended up taking the extra with us in to go cups.
For my burger choice I had The Hottie ($ 8.75). Pickled jalapenos, chipotle sauce and pepperjack cheese along with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions. I opted out of the special sauce as it is mayo based. The burger was not spicy even in the slightest. Someone out there might disagree. It was cooked to a medium rare even though I wasn’t offered a choice. I love medium rare so I was quite happy. The bun did not last too long before disintegrating into a mess. It is a good thing I don’t embarrass easily as this was a messy burger.
Service was friendly. Restaurant was very clean. There were only 2 people eating when we entered, but the place was pretty well packed when we left.
Looks like Albany has a good burger joint. I’m sure we will be back again.

Found First Burger on Unilocal,seemed like a neat place to get a good burger. There space isn’t really big but they make do. It kind of seems more like a fine restaurant than a burger place. We were seated and the waitress took our drink order after tell us about the specials. I had the Juicy Lucy with buffalo meat topped with bacon, inside was cheese and bacon. My wife had the ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ (half bacon/​half beef) burger; we both had the tater tots as a side. You can pick your topping so I had lettuce and pickles.
We got our food, took a little while but they are fresh burger and the Juicy Lucy take more time to cook. The first thing I saw was a sauce on the burger. I asked the waitress and she said it was the burger sauce, looked like fry sauce. Wasn’t on the menu, just comes on burgers. We didn’t like it so we wiped it off. Juicy Lucy with buffalo meat burger was amazing. You would taste the buffalo which is lean and the bacon. The cheese came flowing out when I took a bite. I was in burger bliss. Had a bit of my wife ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ and it was amazing too. Bacon and beef in every bite, you could smell the bacon. I knocked my drink over onto the floor; they clean it up and brought me another drink. Everyone was so nice and helpful.
Overall watch out for burger sauce (ask for it on the side), had a great time. I will be coming back next time I’m in town.
