It is halloween night, it is raining, the bestie and I are driving around looking for booze. Two other places we have tried have negative eleventy parking spaces and everyone is pulled up out front with their blinkers on. We wander on down central to Ganders and find gold — a parking space! No line! Friendly and helpful staff members! A port in a storm! They’re awsome!

I stopped in here the other day while running errands on Central Avenue to pick up some cheap white wine to use for cooking. All of the liquor is either behind the counter or in glass cases. Oddly, the wines are all out on the floor. This led me to question whether people are far more likely to steal liquor than wine. I decided that must be the case. Weird. The unguarded wine selection was very limited so I probably wouldn’t go here again. In fact, there may have been more«malt wine beverages» than actual wines. Nonetheless, I managed to find a bottle of chablis blanc for $ 3.99, although I’d been looking for sauvignon blanc. I only found one bottle of SB and it was 10 bucks — too much for cooking wine! If I hadn’t been in a rush to get home and clean for a dinner party that evening, I definitely would have gone elsewhere. I can’t comment on the liquor prices or selection though, so you might have better luck than I had. The customers I encountered were extremely surly. A woman coming out almost pushed me out of her way when I tried to hold the door. However, the clerk was extremely polite so the star really belongs to him.
