Lighting Place

Great selection and service. If you need lighting of any kind, this should be your first stop!

Larry was very helpful and courteous. Prices are good. I went here after ordering online and was not happy with my purchase and had to return the lamps which cost about $ 75 to return via UPS. Better to go to a lighting place and return then order online and return.

The outside of this place looks like the bottom floor of a wooden ziggurat, where the rest of the tower was wiped away by the wrath of the gods after some transgression by their human servants. The inside is a cacophony of light fixtures with almost no discernible pattern to the place. And strange to say, it’s dimly lit. They can’t even plug in many of the fixtures they have on display. The display areas are spread over a kind of randomly descending showroom with drop ceiling tiles (I would have hit my head on most of the fixtures had I not been dodging madly) that winds around a front desk and display area with haphazardly displayed bulbs and a few odd knick knacks. The store also smells weird. It’s a deucedly odd place.
But this is an old-​school store, where they do repairs, and while they don’t feature a whole lot of manufacturers, there’s a decent selection. I am missing some of the higher end styles I went in looking for — this is a mostly unaggressive aesthetic selection, although if you like retro you may be in for a treat — but there probably are at least a thousand fixtures on display. And they are very helpful (maybe even excessively cheerful) in helping you pinpoint what you’re looking for.
That said, it became apparent almost everything had to be ordered — 2 weeks plus — and the price I was getting was exactly the same as the internet price. I’m still ordering what we’re looking for here, if that’s what we end up choosing, since the defense of a quirky weird run-​down store with a few decades of accumulated experience is worth paying sales tax. I’m honestly not sure how long a place like this can last, given its extremely bad, bad showroom and lack of price differentiation, but for the old-​fashioned service and repair options and presumably installation if you need help with that, I hope it does.

Brought in a lamp for repair because the dimmer switch was no longer working. I expected to have to leave it with them for several days at least, and pay a pretty big chunk of money to have it fixed, but the two men working today were able to replace the switch in about five minutes, and for just $ 25! Needless to say, I couldn’t be happier with their service, and I would absolutely recommend them for any lighting needs.
