Fast, fresh and GREAT service. I ordered the Cantonese Chicken… so good! I’ll be back to try more of their menu.

The staff is very friendly and the food is great! Also, so the pricing is not bad either. I ordered Mongolian beef and had enough for dinner tomorrow. I cam here because others told me how good the food was and viola it’s true! Plus it is easy access by plane with the taxi going right up to the back of the restaurant.

I think that, there are some concerns here. Some of vegetable are frozen. Sometimes out of season you can work with that. First of all where have you seen a real authentic Chinese restaurant in Oregon and maybe those two. this time to go to the owners of these restaurants and asked in the new real food not American crap. to cost difference is almost negligible. Shall I say this goes for all ethnic foods keep it real. you’re doing a disservice by not giving us what your family and heritage grew up with. We spend the money, cook for the masses then cook for people who care. Do one of the other or both if you can. I’m really tired of ethnic food that’s not prepared properly too there wondful culture.

Worst American-Chinese food we’ve ever had. Especially«hot & sour» soup which was terrible and had no resemblance to the staple Hot & Sour soup which is very consistent in every Chinese restaurant around the country.

We just ate here recently WASHORRIBLE. I’ve never walked out without finishing my plate at a chinese restaurant(neither did we take our food to go!!!), this was the first! They only use FROZENVEGETABLES&MEAT. and to top it off LOTSOFMSG!!! My mouth was BURNING& my tongue was numb. Service was pretty bad too… and carpet looked like it hasn’t been vacuumed. This place should not be open for service!

Best Chinese food in town. Huge portions, friendly staff. We order to go quite often and measure any Chinese food we eat elsewhere against Lum Yuens.

One of the better Chinese food places in Albany. We have never been given a reason NOT to go back. :)

I don’t eat here all that often. I guess it’s fair to say that on my previous visits, Lum Yuen’s foor was not all that distinguishable in any way. You go there, you order your food, you eat it, pay for it… and leave.(Inasmuch as I am originally from San Francisco, where there is a Chinese restaurant every three blocks, I’ve got plenty of experience to draw from.) Granted, Chinese restaurants everywhere serve food which is Americanized, to be sure. This last trip to Lum Yuen angered me enough to write about the experience for any prospective customers: I ordered«take out» for myself and my girlfriend. Three items: Egg Foo Yung, combination fried rice, and sweet and sour pork. The Egg Food Yung was mushy, flavorless, and without any redeeming qualities whatsoever. There were no discernible bean sprouts in the concoction. no eggy flavor or texture. If there was they were overcooked into obscurity. The rice was«okay» but heavily darkened with soy sauce, and salty, to boot. Finally, the sweet and sour pork was an unmitigated disaster. It was breaded to the point that there was more bread than meat on each piece. Worse, it was under-fried, which resulted in a soft, gooey mess swimming in a thickened reddish sauce which was oversweet, and undersoured, except when you bit into a piece of pineapple. I don’t know what happened to this establishment:. As I said, in past visits, the food was nondescript but very passable. This last time was so bad I resolved never to return. There aren’t many choices in Albany, OR if you want Chinese food, but certainly Lum Yuen has fallen completely off my list of possibilities. I am sorry to pan this restaurant, but it is what it is, as they say. I cannot recommend it.

Came here while my brother was in town with the family. Ordered a Combo #2 and the serving sizes were large portions(which seem normal for a Chinese restaurant). Service to get seated, order our food and get our food was pretty fast. The problem we had was that the restaurant was fairly unoccupied and it took our waitress a good half an hour or so to finally bring us the check. My dad had to get up from the table and track down someone for boxes and to let them know that our waitress had gone missing. Not until then did our waitress finally emerge to give us our check and apologize for not coming sooner. (Ps, our waitress was sitting in a booth in the back chatting with another waitress the entire time)

I love this place. I’m originally from Portland and they have some of the best Chinese restaurants around. Moving to Albany, it’s been really difficult to find decent places to pick up some delish Chinese. Lum-Yuen is the best Chinese food in Albany!!! Sesame chicken is a must try.

I lived in San Francisco for 45 years and have had some of the best Chinese food around. Lum Yum is very good, I have tried all the Chinese restaurants in town and they are my favorite. I often go for the lunch buffe. its a great deal.

We used to go here years ago, then they changed their sweet and sour sauce and we hated it, so didn’t go back for years. For some reason we decided to try it again, YUM! So glad we did. We usually get the same thing every time. S&S pork, fried shrimp, special fried rice, BBQ pork and crab & cream cheese wontons. When you find something this good, it is hard to order differently every visit. I highly recommend this restaurant!

This is the worst Chinese I ever had. My husband and I are doing a cross country from New York. On our way to Seattle, we stopped here for a late night diner. The minute we walked inside, there was a strong smell, and we decided to get take out. My husband didn’t think he could handle the smell and stay for a sit down dinner. We ordered stir vegetables, vegetable soup and fried rice. Vegetables were in such a bad shape, not fresh at all. Fried rice is bad too. It was terrible. I guess they just spend all their money on their lighting fixtures instead of getting quality food supply. This restaurant is the worst!

The service is great. Top notch! I ordered a combo plate at 9:30 on a tues night. The place closes at 9:30 and they were more than welcome to have me. Others had just ordered when I was sitting and there was actually a lot of people. Waitress was very efficient and accommodating. The food… Also very good. Very fresh which is the most important thing. Their cook is great. The amount of food you receive for $ 9 is just amazing. Look no further

Special fried rice and egg rolls! I love them. My folks live near here, so whenever I have the chance to come down and eat here, I do. The waitstaff in their black leggings is a big turnoff while eating… really, I don’t need to see chubby girl camel toe. But they are nice and my water is always full. The food is pretty solid for AMERICAN chinese food. Shrimp are deveined(!!!) and portions are large. We took my parents and my boyfriend’s dad out, bought 3 family dinners, and had enough leftovers for another person. $ 35 for 5 people. Oh, and did I mention the special fried rice?

Came here for some lunch with the family. My parents love chinese food so we figured might as well try this place. Well that was a bad decision. Let me get to the point, there wasn’t much of a selection for combination plates, we wanted more variety and didn’t want to get a huge dish and end up not liking it. We all ordered combination plates, which came with soup. Our soup was accidentally sent to the table across from us, the server places two soups in front of random people and they were questioning if they also got soup with their meals… Then they proceeded to take back the soup and give it to us… Kinda sick. The food finally came out and it was ehhh bland. The fried rice was not that warm, making me thinking it was just sitting there for hours. The sweet and sour chicken was way to hard, over fried idk but it wasn’t good. Finally the Egg for Young. never get that, it was a disgusting. Very thick, too salty, and the gravy it came with was so disappointing it looked like package gravy. I just pushed it to the side of my plate. Over all I wouldn’t go back again, I had high hopes for Lum-Yuen.

Came here for my grandma’s birthday since this is her favorite place to eat. I had never been here before. I found the décor to be old and out dated and a bit tacky. But what I really came here for was the buffet. On that area I think they were successful. The number of items to choose from wasn’t that big of a selection and when we first arrived most of it was empty. However that was quickly remedied after a few minutes. For buffet food I have to say I was quite impressed with the food and found it to be quite tasty. I would go back anytime.

Decent chinese food for a long haul pit stop. Pretty quick service. I didn’t finish my plate — my friends know convincingly that means these are large portions. The inside is nicer than the outside looks from afar.

I like this place a good deal. The décor is a little bit more lively than other places in the area, the food is very good, and there’s, well, a lot of it. I’ve never once been able to finish a whole plate by myself.(But being a fan of leftovers, this isn’t a problem for me!) They also have good vegetarian options(be sure to try the Bean Curd Country Style – don’t let the odd name fool you, it’s fantastic). I’d definitely consider Lum Yuen the best Chinese food in Albany. It tastes good, the price is right, and the service is friendly.

Was in Albany at Linn County Expo to judge horseshow. Had an awful experience the night before at Cascade Grill — –folks on showgrounds advised this restaurant — good food!!! Service was very good, very fast, very, very— Food was tooo much for a very reasonable price. BBQ pork, egg roll(their type) enough for dinner – after good egg flower soup. Then fried rice, broccoli pork, sweet/sour chicken — -burp! Simply good food, at a place that makes you want to come back!!!
