This place is really good. The service was great, the food was great, the atmosphere and décor were great. It seemed a little pricey at first, but the portion sizes were generous and the food was amazing. My boyfriend and I are both vegetarians and there were plenty of options for us. I’d recommend the miso soup, spring rolls, the avocado roll, and the sweet potato roll. The vegetable roll was pretty good too, but it was raw veggies and so it was really crunchy, which is not my thing, but the flavor of them was still good.

Great fresh sushi. Great menu. Friendly staff. Fast service. Great specials. Nice small place without the fluff of the bigger competition.

My husband used to live in Hawaii… The land of excellent sushi. We like to call this place ninja sushi after a place we loved on the island. But it’s not ninja sushi. It’s Mr Fuji sushi and it’s doing quite a bang up job of sushi for a land locked town like smallbany. My husband is a sushi lover and is always trying something big and fancy. I’m not a fish eater and I love mr Fuji sushi because they have an amazing peanut avocado roll. It’s a fish free roll you can make a meal out of. I also really enjoy their tempura chicken appetizer and friend rice. Don’t forget the mochi for dessert. Service is great. Ambiance is really nice. Much more upscale than your typical Albany Asian place. Give this place a try. I don’t think you’ll regret it.

Best sushi around! Their spicy tuna roll is actually spicy unlike most places. Employees are very nice and accommodating. Love this place!

The Sushi/Sashimi restaurant was a nice find. After reading the reviews I knew I should try it. The décor is very modern and spacious and the waitresses we very attentive. I ordered the sashimi deluxe which had 20 pieces(chefs choice), well, I couldn’t finish it! The pieces were perfectly sized containing tuna, white tuna, salmon, and one other type(I could kick myself for not asking what it was). All in all it was a great experience and the food was top-notch!

Probably the best sushi I’ve had in the NE so far. Being in the upstate area(and formally from California), I didn’t have great expectations for sushi places out here. But wow… I don’t know how they do it, but they have some freshest sushi I’ve had. I’m a big fan of salmon and their Salmon Lovers plate is pretty on spot. Prices are pretty good and the service is good as well. This is definitely one of the best places to eat at in Albany.

Found this place when at Stuyvesant plaza and are very happy we did. Clean, fresh, flavorful food and good service. Best miso soup either of us ever tasted. All dishes have great eye appeal. The lobster roll special was excellent as well as being huge. The sushi deluxe was nine pieces and a tuna roll. The pieces were all different and delicious as was the roll. Though the room is on the small side the menu was quite varied and reasonably priced.

Lots of menu options for the whole family including a kids menu. We ordered one special roll, the sushi/sashimi combo, a dinner box and tempura udon. The portions are very filling. Loved my special roll, the sushi/sashimi was fresh and the dinner box had a lot of variety according to my fam. Some house salads and miso soups came with the meal. I was really impressed with the house salad which was fresh — the ginger sauce was light and tangy. A tip for the tempura udon, put a few tempura pieces in the udon. The soup tastes better that way. Dining experience was pleasant. The restaurant itself is modern and sleek, a little narrow but there’s a second floor and sushi bar. We came around 9pm and practically had the restaurant to ourselves. Would come again.

I looked this establishment up online while in town for business. It was a very pleasant surprise. The service was polite and prompt. I ordered the sushi & sashimi combination. It was delicious. Fresh and terrific presentation. I look forward to returning the next time in Albany.

Fresh food, a good meal. The wait staff was a little in attentive, there were only two tables with customers and it took a while to get a refill on the water. But the sushi made up for it.

Mr. Fuji is a cut above ichi bun and below Hanna. Nice middle ground. The atmosphere is nice and the sushi is fresh. Some of my favorites are the spicy salmon and crab rolls which come with a slight crunch from tempura(I think) and the mango spider which is a soft shell crab served in a mango chutney. I recommend going during lunch time as you can get a couple rolls, salad with ginger dressing and miso soup at a very reasonable price. Also, cold stone is right next door when you are ready for some dessert!

I like to order takeout here for lunch. You get a pretty good bang for your buck. 2 rolls, a soup or salad, and edamame beans or harumaki for $ 10. Clean, fresh, yummy, and a good deal.

Absolutely wonderful experience… Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. We came for a late lunch for sushi. We sat at the sushi bar for quick convenience but the space is small and inviting. There’s even seating upstairs for a little more privacy. The sushi chef was kind enough to give us a free appetizer(not sure what it was but it was delicious and who doesn’t like something on the house?!). We got the spider, Dragon, spicy salmon and Philadelphia rolls… the specialty rolls were beautiful and everything tasted wonderful. I don’t know much about other sushi places in the area but against my favorite sushi joints in manhattan fuji sushi gives them a run for their money. We can’t have sushi without some mochi for dessert and the red bean was great. We’ll be back for sure!

Food was excellent. Service was slow. I do have one problem that is just a pet peave of mine. We ordered appetizers and full meals. Even had dessert. They charged us 2.00 for a diet coke. Ok no problem. But not even a refill. No refills? For a full meal soda refills should be the norm.

Came in with a work colleague for dinner. We bothed ordered the sashimi regular which came with soup and salad for $ 19 and had 14 pieces of fish. He also opted for the dynamite appetizer and I asked for several a la carte sashimi items. The fish was very fresh and thes soup and salad were also good. Why the 3 stars? 4 out of the 5 items I asked for I was told they were out of including one that was recommended to me due to the others being out. This was 6PM on a Monday so they were obviously not out, they never ordered any. Don’t put it on your menu if you have no intentions of having it on a daily basis.

Stopped in for some afternoon sushi. I really love the style of the space. Excellent job designing the space. Super clean and inviting. I tried a few different sushi roll options which were all terrific as well as some soup and dumplings. Everything was fresh and the plating was beautiful. The menu has plenty of offerings that I look forward to trying next time I stop in. Service was great and the pricing reasonable.

My father and I had lunch here on New Year’s day. It was quiet; only a couple of other diners were there. I like the interior of the restaurant, now that I’ve finally seen it — you cannot tell what it looks like from the outside, as the windows are black as night, so it has been a mystery to me all these time I’ve walked past it while running errands in Stuyvesant Plaza. The service was good and well paced. We ordered the dinner box special(I thought it was going to be the lunch box special — we were there before 2pm) and it included quite a bit(see photo). For dessert I ordered the green tea cheesecake, but they were out of it. Instead, I ordered the tempura cheesecake with a side of green tea ice cream. They brought both out and said the ice cream was on the house, presumably because they were out of what I had wanted to order. I thought that was nice of them to do. The tempura cheesecake was amazing! Like most good Japanese restaurants, it is a little expensive here. So, I may not be able to come as often as I’d like, but I will definitely be back.

Being new to the area it was extremely important to find a reliable sushi spot ASAP. So glad to have come across Mr. Fuji. The presentation is extraordinary, they put a little extra effort into it which I appreciate. The sushi has always been fresh and delicious. I’ve never gotten anything but sushi but from peeking at other diners plates the dishes look yummy. Service is friendly and attentive. The very first time I came with my brother we sat at the bar and the sushi chef gave him a shrimp head which he really enjoyed!

A friend of mine said he loved this place for sushi and wanted to go one night. Not being in a sushi mood myself, I was pleased to see they do hibachi as well. My dinner companions ordered a few different sushi rolls, and as far as presentation — you can’t say enough — the dishes are beautiful! The dishes have swirls of flower designs, and sushi stacked in different designs, some have light up devices — its all very over the top, but in a good way. For my dinner, I ordered filet mignon and scallop hibachi — perfectly juicy and tender, and most importantly — delicious. It came with soup, salad, and 2 shrimp — as many hibachi dishes at other places do, and the price was fair for the fare I ordered. The dish ran about $ 27.95 or so, which I thought was comparable, or even less than most other hibachi places in the area. My next trip here, I am looking forward to trying the kobe beef hibachi — $ 55 a dish, I can only imagine how this one tastes!

Mr. Sushi has become our regular sushi joint since my last review. We’ve worked our way through the specialty rolls which are fun and creative, even if they aren’t exactly authentic Japanese. They still taste amazing. The Brooklyn and the White River Rolls are probably my favorites. My only criticism might be the the size of the individual pieces. They make for a rather large bite that can sometimes be awkward. The spicy vegetable miso soup is outstanding and a wonderful cure-all. This might be my favorite spot on a cold winter evening — spicy soup, hot tea and delightful sushi. Prices are affordable too. Two of us can eat a ridiculous amount of food for under $ 50.
