Being from out of town we thought we would check out some food here. The review before this one indicated good things. The food was a huge disappointment. The pot stickers were eh. They were serve with a plastic packet of sauce. The insides fell out of the pot stickers, before eating them. The sweet and sour chicken is pictured here and it was so unlike anything I expected, I’m not sure what to say. I couldn’t eat much of it. It was 2 fried pieces of chicken with marmalade colored sauce. The rice was dry and I flavorful. The best part of my meal was my root beer float.

Very large portions for the price! We ordered the orange chicken. It was a HUGE plate with very fresh, large pieces of chicken. It was served with fresh orange slices, and had a very strong smell of fresh orange(we loved this). It also came with a large side of fried rice. We also ordered the pot stickers. Nothing spectacular here. Pretty basic, but very good. The atmosphere was a little outdated, but our waiter was super nice and attentive. The food was hot and and very fast!

The nice look of the restaurant from the outside can lure you into thinking it might be a good choice. If you are looking for cheaply made food at a cheap price in abundance then pings is the place for you. The food wasn’t awful, but also nothing to rave about. If you are in Albany stick to the Mexican restaurants

If I could give it zero stars I would. The service was ok but the food was gross. Out of the $ 30+ I spent the only good thing the pork fried rice. But thats not enough to get me to ever go back there ! Oh the egg flower soup was the worst!

Other than the bbq bao the food was a disappointment! The egg flower soup was watery and flavorless, with super minced up mushrooms and water chestnuts– with what looked like powdered egg(and there was not much of any of it). Had to add soy sauce to flavor it– sorry but it’s true. The other appetizers also had issues. The shrimp spring rolls didn’t seem to have any shrimp which they still tasted ok but might have been better with shrimp. The«tangy sauce» as advertised for the potstickers was a generic package of unopened gyozo sauce and generic package of unopened chili oil — served with an empty plastic to go sauce cup. I’ve NEVER had potsticker sauce served this way! To be honest guys– it’s tacky and doesn’t taste very good since it’s not fresh. It shows no pride in what you’re serving. The red sauce for the bbq pork was watered down and tasted like watery ketchup. It’s not the first time I’ve had ketchup like sauce but it was the first time it was watery. It made me wonder if someone is trying to make the sauce go farther but I’m hoping it just wasn’t mixed well. The pork was moist though and tasted good despite the sauce it was served with. The rice(and we had both steamed and pork fried) was plain sad! The steamed rice was over cooked and mushy, the pork fried looked like someone put the rice from a rice-a-roni box in a pot and over cooked it and tried to add a light soy sauce for flavor(which didn’t work). There wasn’t any egg and for being pork fried there wasn’t any pork, so clearly someone doesn’t know what pork fried means– just saying. The Kung po(pow) was ok but didn’t taste quite like Kung po-the same with the Szechuan which was sweet and not at all spicy. Both were ok but shouldn’t be listed as spicy since neither husband’s dish had a mystery meat that we couldn’t identify(maybe chicken? Not sure) and the dish had no seasoning only tasted like butter. With no salt it had a blandish flavor with a strange aftertaste. This is a restaurant that used to be high quality but now is such a disappointment that I felt embarrassed recommending it to and taking my daughter there for the first time! I know I won’t be back again and will never recommend it again! And if the owners and/or managers read this –Please Please Please bring back the quality and stop taking shortcuts in preparing your dishes! You used to be so awesome and it’s very sad to see how poorly you have become! You are overpriced for the poor quality food you produce now, and you could be so much better! You’ve lost me and my friends and family but improve for others to enjoy. There is one bright light in our meal– the strawberry lemonade was very good. Don’t change them too!

So much leftover Chinese food — huge portions, but it was delicious :) Vegetables were fresh, which is always a good start, sweet and sour pork had generous sized pieces and a delicious style of sweet and sour sauce, tasted like they used orange juice instead of the usual artificial bright red version :) fried rice was tender and flavorful, not the bland dry rice some places serve. We also got a «small» war wonton soup(which was giant, enough for two meals easily, with lots of veggies, meats and a yummy broth) and the tidbits tray, thinking it’d be a small sampling… nope, enough for 4 people to share… including the shrimp egg roll which was giant, true to the rest of the portions here, but had celery, so this was the only«eh» of the whole order for us, only because we don’t like celery :) Semi casual dining, relaxed but clean, we’re set for another 2 – 3 meals now, but it was a good find :)

This is one of those restaurants that was once spectacular, but has unfortunately lost a lot in the quality department as time has gone on. The last time I ate there with my mom and brother for lunch, everything was no hotter than room temperature, some things bordering on totally cold. Like all of their lunch menu had been precooked and it was all waiting for you. The egg flower soup was watery and bland. It required copious amounts of salt just to get it down. I used to love their sweet and sour chicken, because it was moist and fresh, not old or dried up. No such luck these days. The service is ok. There’s no real problems with it, but it’s certainly nothing to rave about either. The waitress definitely doesn’t go above and beyond to be helpful. They just seat you, you order, good is brought and they are done with you until it’s time to bring boxes. It’s not a place I’ll return to anytime in the near future.

Enjoyed lunch with friends once or twice a year. It’s not outstanding but I eat Americanized entrees. That being said it’s just average. Service was always short and accommodating but no special attention to normal inquiries for example«how is your meal?» and«is there anything else you would like?» I have always had one beverage from the bar with my meal and I have to say there is room for improvement. But I will go back because our group picked Pings over all the other Chinese restaurants in the area.

Got the family combo D and it was pretty good. Your typical 3 star Chinese restaurant, nothing special. The service however was very good, and the food came out quick like usual that’s why I felt it deserved 4⁄5 stars.

Unfortunately the food quality over time has gone down hill as well as the attention to detail from the staff. Tonight for example we ordered sesame beef with steamed rice BBQ pork. Sesame chicken with sweet and sour sauce. We had take out. But when we got home we had no sauces for the pork or the chicken and no rice. But the hot and sour soup was good

Ping’s Garden is a fabulous Paleo find with fresh ingredients. It is awesome balance of authentic clean fresh Cantonese food a la Hong Kong style, and also dishes that Americans commonly love in Chinese restaurants. I love this restaurant because I can go there and eat authentic clean fresh Paleo Chinese dishes with American friends who love their Happy Family favorites. Ping’s Garden restaurant was quite crowded on a Friday night, but there was still room to get a table. It’s a bit hidden away, so keep looking for it, if it is your first visit.

When we first ate here I thought it was ok and the next couple of times we came, it has gotten so bad. I believe this is the worst Chinese food we ever ate second to Jade garden in Corvallis. I am very particular about my food because I always make home cook meals and though at times i want to take a break from cooking and so we dine out. If you’re the kind of person that likes bland food then this place is right for you just saying.

Ping’s Garden really surprised me. I have eaten Chinese food from San Francisco to Hong Kong, of all shapes and sizes, but I was not expecting the high quality of both flavor and freshness that I found at Ping’s. We started with the steamed char siu baos, amazing! Then we ordered Happy Family, a wonderful blending of fresh veggies and meats. The sauce was not overwhelming, nor were the veggies overcooked, as though the dish was prepared fresh, just for us. We then had Pea Pod Chicken and again, very fresh snow peas were used, not overcooked at all, in a very light sauce. Ping’s is 5 minutes off Hwy. 5, near the town of Albany, in Oregon, and well worth the detour if you are anywhere near Eugene, Oregon. I really envy the folks that live in the area, as they can visit Ping’s anytime.

I’ve eaten here many times, and the service gets slower and slower. This time it was a Saturday night at 6:30pm. The restaurant was about ½ full. I walked in the door and found nobody at the front desk. I stood around waiting to be seated for 5 minutes. Finally was seated, and was handed the menu. Again waited 10 mins for the server to come back. I told her what I wanted to order. She replied to me that they’re completely out of soup. And that they’e making more so it’s going to be a while. I didn’t really have a choice, so I agreed. I waited 20 minutes for the food comes out. After all of that it was just so so. I grew up going to Ping’s Garden as a kid. And every time I’m in town I make it a point to go. The past couple times, the service hasn’t been what I was used to. I hope they get that figured out in the future.

Finally found good Chinese food. Let me start by saying, I am picky about my food as I have eaten at some of the best. Being new to the area, I was pleased to see plenty of Asian type restaurants. Have tried quite a few and it’s not been good. Yesterday on the way home, hubby and I decided to try Pings Garden. It was late afternoon, so not a lot of people in the restaurant. Pings is very pretty inside and out. Seating is a combo of booths and tables. Plenty of window seats and room between the tables for some privacy — they also have a bar and very nice banquet facilities. We tend to order the same three dishes when trying a new Chinese restaurant: fried shrimp, sweet and sour, Mongolian beef all served with steamed rice. These are our«litmus test» dishes — if they can’t do these right, the rest generally is bad too. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, crisp and light tempura — not greasy in the least — the red sauce and mustard paired nicely. The Mongolian beef arrived on a crisp bed of rice noodles — tender beef, carrots, peppers, onion all in a smokey slightly spicy sauce. We ordered a staff favorite: Sweet and Sour Combo — combo of tempura fried shrimp, chicken breast and pork in a lovely orange sauce — not too sweet and presented beautifully. The dishes were all very good and time was spent on perfecting the flavor and presentation. Our server was attentive and very helpful. As we were leaving the early dinner crowd was filling the seats. We will be going back to expand our trip through their menu. Oh, they also have«American» food on the menu if you have a picky eater!!!

Haven’t been to pings in well over 9 years(been living out of the area), so when my husband suggested Chinese for date night, i knew where we had to go to my old favorite place in town. We were seated right away to a booth. Right away i noticed it want as darkly lit as it used to be, but maybe should be. The décor is very 90‘s. Our waitress was nice enough but had zilch in the personality department and apologized for taking so long but she was very busy. She would apologize a couple times throughout dinner, but there wasn’t really anybody there… so what was she busy with? Anyway husband ordered a cocktail and couldn’t taste the liquor but i could and i ordered iced tea and after going back and forth, i got the plum wine as well and it was AMAZING. we ordered the tidbit tray for our app, bbq pork, wontons, and a shrimp eggroll. This came with red sauce with just a tad of hot mustard. It also had sweet and sour sauce that congealed quickly… so that looked gross. The appetizer was pretty good. Shrimp eggroll wasnt heavy and the wontons were crispy and hot, purl? A little dry, but once i dunked it in the red sauce it was yum. WE Got the #8& # substitutions allowed, which was kind of a bummer because i really wanted wonton soup and no numbers anywhere came with that soup. I ordered the standard egg flower soup and hubby upgraded to hot and sour. Both soups were really good the egg flower had no oily taste and his soup was delicious. Or food came and we were totally overwhelmed with how MUCH food came to us! He said overall his #8 was«okay» my number came with almond chicken chow mein and the amount of celery that came in it was ridiculous and little chicken. Lots of almonds though, so I overlooked the other two flaws. We asked for two to go boxes and left, our main courses barely touched. Overall an ok place, but I’ll probably explore other Chinese joints in the area. I miss the pings of 10 years ago

Without a doubt my favorite Chinese food place anywhere in Oregon. A perfectly pleasant location and family/business friendly in design, pings offers a plethora of Chinese dishes at extremely low prices. I’ve taken friends and family out to Ping’s and payed less than $ 20 for 2 people plenty of times while still taking home left overs and feeling completely full. The service is friendly and the tables have always been clean and cleared waiting for you to sit down, while the food is always hot and plentiful. No matter what you order from the combination plates, you will always get a lot of food, most of which come with a soup appetizer. Out of all of the Chinese restaurants around Albany, I feel that Ping’s Garden is the highest quality. They may even deliver, but to be honest I’ve never asked. I’d highly recommend checking out their website and trying their food the next time you’re craving Chinese. P. S. Their Fried Rice is the best I’ve ever had. –Ian

Every time I have had to go to Corvallis or Albany since I moved to Oregon, I have come here to eat lunch or dinner on the way in or out. That’s been often. my husband had a job in Corvallis for a year in the middle of our marriage and he even ate here without me a few times, and he never does that. I know it’s not AWESOME Chinese. I think it’s pretty good though. We like the char sui bao, the bbq pork, the potstickers, the sesame chicken, and chicken with broccoli… oh and the egg foo young. I haven’t had problems with the service or the cleanliness, and I like the bottomless diet coke, they really did refill them a lot last time I was in. So, I’m giving it 3 stars plus a 4th for being a decent non-chain place to eat in a small town and lasting so long.
