Solid NY style pizza, greasy and makes you feel a little bad about yourself. Located in downtown Albany. We ordered delivery so I can not speak for the inside of this pizzeria. I would order again if we were trying to order from some place in the downtown area. Otherwise, I honestly prefer capital city gastropub’s pizza on new scotland which seems to have the freshest mozzarelle.

Nice little pizza spot nestled in Downtown Albany. Service was a little grumbly, but I can cope with that at a pizza place if the food is good. And good it was. Had a couple slices — one pepperoni, one sausage. Crust was crispy and not too thick. Toppings were plentiful. The sauce was subtly sweet. There was just enough of that pizza love juice to remind you that you’re not eating a salad, but not so much as to make it greasy. Yeah, authentic NY slices. Sapienza is legit.

We ordered two subs… They were huge. Couldn’t believe the price. If you are in the downtown Albany area, it is worth the stop. I had a nibble of the crust of my niece’s pizza and it was very good… None of that thin crust stuff.

This is my to go spot for slices in downtown. Always consistent. I love their other stuff too. Baked ziti, lasagna are all good too. Place is a little hole in the wall, but that’s what makes it special.

The service was awful. When we got there people were pushing my girlfriend and I when there was no where to go in a tightly packed line. My girlfriend asked for a sausage and pepper platter and i ordered a slice of pizza. Her order came out before mine and i had to then wait another 10 minutes for just a slice of pizza. 3 people behind me got there food before I did. The food was shoved in my face and it was almost a fight to sit at a table. The only reason for 2 stars is because pf the food taste which wasn’t so bad.

Their pizza slices are pure bliss. Perfect amount of cheese and topping, crisp bottom, chewy crust. One slice is a good lunch, two cures a hangover.

I am right by this place because I work in one of the government buildings by there so I’ve had the displeasure of eating their pizza. The usual dilemma, had to eat something in a pinch, had to pick the lesser of the evils. The pizza was flat out disgusting it had a thick crust, heart burn worthy greasiness and was mostly burnt. Another thing, ITISABSOLUTELY filthy in there I don’t care if you research public health concerns or codes you can see with your eyes it’s dirty in there and usually filled with smoke. The workers are rude. All in all I’ll spend my money elsewhere.

Terrible place! The pizza was uncooked and unsafe. Just because you cater to drunk patrons doesn’t mean you can serve substandard food. I asked for it to be fixed and they were rude and so unprofessional!

Hi, I’m only going to say this once so pay attention. To all of the naysayers, you know who you area, THISISNOTGOURMETFOOD. ITSJUSTPIZZA. This place does not pretend to be anything more than it is. A place to get a quick bite at a reasonable price. The pizza is nothing to write home about. Has anyone ever done that by the way? Write home about a meal? People we have phones for that. The staff is polite and as friendly as can be expected of a busy pizza place. I say friendly as they have never threatened me with bodily harm which is more than I can say for some places. Also, I don’t know where you have been eating but I have never seen flies there. Ever. So in closing, if your near by and need a quick, cheap meal than stop in. Oh yeah, they have beer. YAYBEER.

Best pizza spot in Downtown Albany, hands down. Sapienza’s is a favorite for my coworkers and I. Right down the street and delicious. There are a variety(at least 6 – 7 on any given day) of different slices to choose from and the slices are huge. Staff are always nice and have been the same group of guys for at least the past 5 – 6 years I’ve been going. Always a smiling face and very polite. There are other options as well: hot and cold subs/sandwiches, calzones, stromboli, wings, salads, Italian meals and so on. This is absolutely a place to try if in Downtown Albany!

Definitely not my «go to» spot for pizza when I crave it, but being that I work downtown it gets the job done. Pizza is really heavy on the dough and grease, but it still has that authentic pizza taste. Those complaining about prices must not know that any average pizza joint around here charges the same prices per slice, for worse pizza. Lines get very long at lunch, and they really should have someone walking around cleaning tables and refilling Parmesan cheese shakers. Bottom line: Do I crave it? No. Do I eat it occasionally on my lunch when I want a reliable slice? Yes.

This place is mediocre at best. If you’re looking to get the best bang for your buck on a single slice of chee se(or any other single topping slice), Sapienzas is the spot. Pretty over priced and consisting mainly of dough, it’ll fill you up with one or two slices and leave you feeling like you had instead gone to Maurices Delicatessen 20 yards up the road for a sandwich or salad. Ponder that.

Not at all ny style pizza, sauce bland, no flavor, pepperoni sliced so thin you could hardly taste, I’ve eaten the best at Gino’s in Brooklyn, that’s Italian, this is at best drunk pizza, you eat this when your wasted Hard to say anything good. Also I will add no flies as one posted, also to those of you with no clue what good food is, SHUTUP, IT’S annoying to read your babble..

It’s a small hole in the wall pizza joint by the Times Union Center. Nothing flashy here, food is well, food. Good selection, not much that isn’t somewhere else. I come here mainly before going to a game or concert at the Times Union Center. Pizza slice sizes are bigger than most places, frequently having specials on various kinds are a draw. A slice of veggie pizza here has frequently overflowed with toppings. The mushroom slices are also good. It can get real crowded here so if you have more than one person and all are paying at the same time, have the extra snag a table. While this isn’t my favorite pizza joint in the area, it does the job before a game or event at the Times Union Center, that is to say that it has cheap food, cheap price. Nothing flashy or fancy, just food.

One slice of pizza is equal to two slices most places. It is tasty, filling and decent priced. The staff there is super nice! You get your food fast and you stay full for hours! They handle lunch rushes wonderfully as well.

My latest trip disgusted me so much I refuse to go back there again. Flies EVERYWHERE. On the pizza, tables, open food, etc. It was disgusting. The tables were filthy and the guys that work in there are not the cleanest, nor friendliest. Sorry Sap’s, you used to be a usual lunch stop, but your pizza has been in a serious decline over the past year and the flies are disgusting. The Albany County Health Department should probably stop in here sometime soon.

Was excited for some good New York pizza. I was very disappointed. The slice that I ordered wasn’t worth finishing. I always finish my pizza. I came in Jan. 2015. It was freezing cold outside and the had flies flying around and landing on the pizza. I have never seen flies in the winter before. Guess they have a nice warm home at this very overstated pizza place.

Some of the best pizza in the entire capital district. Happy to be able to stop in before a Siena game. Slices are large and the ingredients are real(sausage with fennel seed fresh vegetables etc) can get pretty busy then counter service slows down. You will probably have to clean your own table

You’ve got to be kidding me with these good reviews. Heavy doughy pizza with grease so dominant it is scary. If you set foot in the place, your clothing smells like burning cheese, pretty much until it is cleaned next. Please raise your standards helpers.

Back up. Consistent Damn good huge slices. Would be a better rating if they had Mushroom always. They seem to always be out. Also can get a HUGE line around lunch time. Best Slices– Plain Cheese Tomato Basil Mushroom Supreme(one with everything on it) Chicken Bacon Ranch Avoid Slices– Buffalo Chicken, just not a good rendition
