Santiam Liquor Store

Pretty good liquor store! I was impressed with the selection, the reasonable prices and the friendly staff. Low creeper index (important!!) and the place smells like delicious Mexican food because they share a wall with a restaurant. Bottom line: I shop here when I can, and recommend it to others.

The staff is mostly friendly when I went in.
However, one night I wanted to call to see what time they closed. Someone answered, said something inaudible, and the phone disconnected. I was like, wait, what did they say? I thought the phone might have been dropped or just bad connection or something. But I called back and I got the most frighteningly unfriendly tone I have ever heard over the phone. Without the tone, the words don’t bring as much emotion, but she said, «DID I NOT JUST FUCKING SAY WE WERE CLOSED.» Then the call was terminated again. I was stunned. Shocked that someone would talk to a customer that way. Or anyone for that matter.
To this day, I have not let it go. It was inappropriate and beyond rude. I will never shop here again.

It’s a liquor store. No frills, just liquor.
It’s hard to judge Oregon liquor stores because they’re basically all the same and run by the State. This one gets an additional star because it’s a nice size, and they’ve got a great staff. They’ve recommended new ideas to me based on what I was buying, and I’ve discovered some new favorites! It can get busy right before closing, because hey, the good people of Albany need their liquor.
