I’ve been going to Lilly for shampoo, cut and blow dry for a few years now; She’s very attentive, listens to what I’m looking for in a cut and explains what we can do to enhance what I’m looking for. She remembers the cuts we’ve done previously, and what I did and didn’t like about them. I’ve always come out loving my haircut. I don’t color my hair and I am not very skilled at styling, but she’s very patient and answers all absurd hair questions I have. She’s also very aware of current looks and styles, so you don’t have to walk in with a picture and 500 word explanation of what you’d like. The pricing is very fair for the skill level going into my haircut (about $ 50 before tip).

The place is great. I have used all the services in the past. The mani/​pedi, facial (Christy is outstanding), and massage. All very nice! What keeps me coming back is Lilly. I have had my hair done all over the capital district, however, since I met Lilly, I will go no where else. She is flexible to my schedule, and her cut, color, ideas, and teachings are the best I have ever had. There is no one like her in the area. She is able to look at me, give me a great color and cut, and switch it up when I need a change. She knows an enormous about product as well as teaching me how to diffuse and straiten my hair. I have multiple looks thanks to my stylist! Lilly is the absolute best!!! Thank you Lilly!!!

Got my haircut here to was told 30 on the phone but was told otherwise when I came in. I asked for something new the stylist had no idea what to do, I just wanted something new. And I had medium size length. I suggested maybe a bob but I was told ehhh. The cut I got was actually so bad because the layers were way too short I had to cut it to a bob anyways. My mother went here and had someone cancel on her a lot. I mean for the prices it’s really not cool…

This review is for Jessica who cut and colored my hair. First off, let me say I am as picky as they come when it comes to my hair. My mother used to give me a haircut and color from Shapes and Colors for birthdays and Christmas, which I loved. Two years ago I moved out of state. I’ve had a string of unhappy experiences trying to find a local salon I like. The last salon I tried which was not Shapes and Colors I left and cried in my car because they had so badly misunderstood what I asked for (even though I had a picture of exactly what I wanted). So while visiting my family in NY for Christmas I once again was gifted with a visit to Shapes and Colors! Jessica is a mind reader. She understood exactly what color and cut I wanted. Its been a long time since I’ve been this happy with my hair and its all thanks to Jessica and her great skills at color and cutting. I’m especially impressed with my all over color that she did, I love it! I’ve also received so many compliments on the color since getting it done. Thanks Jessica and thanks Shapes and Colors!

I absolutely love this place. My mom, sister, and I come here all the time when we need to get our hair cut, our nails done, or get our hair styled for a special event. The staff here are so friendly, and they are great at their jobs. Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but what a great way to treat yourself! Even though it primarily caters to an adult clientele, this is a surprisingly good place to take kids of a haircut as well.

I have been going to Denice at Shapes and Colours for the past 15 years. There is a reason I drive over 2.5 hours just to get my hair done by her. I have tried local salons and nothing compares to how my hair looks (and feels) when I leave her chair. I have also had my hair done by Lyndsay and Amanda R. They do amazing work as well!

Came here for eye lash extensions after my curler totally ripped my lashes out :(Jen was incredible and did exactly what I wanted. The place is so clean, inviting and relaxing. I thought the prices were a little steep, but I was happy so I guess you get what you pay for!

A fabulous place for hair, nails, and my favorite: facials! Katie and Jen are the best estheticians around. They will never steer you wrong. Plus… They’re GREAT at gossiping. :) Reasonable prices for the high quality service. Always check Groupon and DoubleTakeDeals because they occasionally have AWESOME deals for facials, manicures, and massages.

Insanely over priced, snotty and rude staff with average or worse talent, and they purposely take their time. When I went to get my hair colored, the girl literally took 5 hours and did not talk to me the entire time I was there. And my hair didn’t even look that great when she finished… there were still roots showing, and she blow dried it in a way that made it look poofy and old lady-​ish. Definitely not worth $ 220.

Amanda Marie has been my stylist for almost three years now, and I love her! Every appointment starts with a consultation of sorts (takes a look at my hair, plays around with it, asks what I want to do). She makes great suggestions and I always leave feeling like a million bucks. She also has a great personality. Can’t recommend her enough.

Denise’s hair knowledge gives me confidence in her cutting skills. She perfectly cut my bangs and gave me tips for styling. Thrilled to come back!

Went here with a gift certificate for a manicure and a massage. The manicure was good, nothing too special. I really like the shaping and length the manicurist (Jennifer?) made them.
I had Kira as my massage therapist, and although this was my first spa-​professional massage, I can tell she’s amazing at what she does. I asked her to do a full body, though focusing on my neck and shoulders and she did exceptional! Would definitely return for another massage!
Also to note, many other clients were there leaving hair appointments and all of them looked fantastic! Stylists really seemed to be genuinely interested in making their clients happy. Really friendly too!

Kira is an amazing massage therapist, too bad other members of the staff don’t know how to be quiet outside the massage rooms. Same thing on two separate occasions :-/​Kira gets 5 stars for massage skills and so does Marissa for the perfect pedi!

I love this place! All Aveda products, Katie-​Lynn who is on maternity leave is awesome with the hair and razoring it, Chanel, is awesome with hair treatments, and Mandy is really amazing with the mani’s and pedi’s.
Mandy’s mani’s and pedi’s last longer than a week! Love it! Not to mention the receptionist always takes care of me with candy. She supports my habit!
Just make sure that you bring cash for tips.
