I take it this is a franchise of the Soup Guy from Seinfeld, and I’ve never seen an episode nor visited the Soup Guy, so that’s a pretty decent branding if I know that. That said, we’ve been a bit underimpressed. Plusses: fresh fruit(apples, pears, oranges) and salads, featuring actual greens, in the mall food court, which makes it pretty much the only option if you want to eat something that was once, recognizably, a living thing. Minuses: salty soup that isn’t *that* special for the price, and somewhat limp prepared salads. I don’t knows: haven’t tried their sandwiches. I’m not sure whether the pricing is good or not since everything in the food court seems expensive to me. Should have expected it: they have joined the ranks of locations offering«Cobb Salads» that aren’t really Cobb Salads but a chef’s salad that’s not mixed up. Some hints: Cobb salads have avocado, and they don’t come with a «choice of dressings», and there is no iceberg lettuce in a Cobb. Among other eccentricities. Bottom line: we’ll likely patronize it again if we have to, for the above-mentioned reasons that there aren’t any even remotely«healthful» options in the mall food court, but it’s not like we’re going to go out of our way to dine at the mall because of this place.

I ordered the Penn Station sandwich. It was advertised as «lean» pastrami, but it was nothing of the sort. About 25% was grizzly fat. I could physically even bite through the sandwich because the amount of fat. For a pricey $ 8 sandwich, I would gladly go to a Bountiful bread or Panera instead.

A pricey soup place in the food court with the starting price for a small cup of soup at $ 4.95(plus tax). The Original Soup Man offers at least 6 different kinds of soup daily such as tomato basil, chili, gumbo, lobster bisque, and more. They also offer hot pressed paninis, wraps, salads, smoothies, teas, bottled drinks, and Pepsi fountain drinks. For a decent value meal, there’s the Soup Trio which includes a cup of soup, half a Panini, wrap or side salad, fountain drink, fruit, and a small piece of chocolate. See the menu at I had lunch here and ordered the Soup Trio($ 8.95 plus tax), with the Beef Gumbo(decent hearty taste) with a small piece of chewy bread and half Italian Panini(fresh thick mozzarella, tomato, basil & Italian seasoning in hot pressed ciabatta bread, very good, but mini sized) plus the soda, orange, and small chocolate square(Astor Chocolate). I finished the food quickly since there was not much food on the tray and I was actually still hungry, very tempted to «Ring the Bell» across the food court. Overall, the food tastes good, but overpriced for the amount of food you get. Oh well, there are plenty of other options in the food court that offer better value. Price Chopper stocks some prepackaged Original Soup Man soups(around $ 5.95 for 2 servings).
