Meh. It’s okay. As the product of southerners, it has ZERO southern flair but the wait staff is so nice and it’s near my house. Go with no expectation of being transported south of the Mason-Dixon. Decent but not wonderful. These 5 star reviews are from obvious tourists who took a guided tour of the hood. Tsk.tsk.

My wife and I had breakfast here today and it was well worth it. The food was great as well as the wait staff

It’s a hometown diner, with a southern flair. I had the Fish and Grits, and the grits were so creamy. I wanted my mother around so I could slap her they were so good. The fish was seasoned well, and very fresh. It seems to me that this is the new morning breakfast spot sans the ridiculousness. They’re very nice in there too. I was thinking that the fish would have been done with cornmeal but it was breaded, still delicious and generous. I give it two thumbs up for soul breakfast. I cant wait to try the chicken and waffles

Uncle Dan’s Diner satisfies. Sure, it’s a dive in a crappy part of town but the food is cheap and tasty. If you’re looking for fine dining, you’ll probably not want to consider Uncle Dan’s Diner, but if you’re hungry to eat standard diner fare quick & easy — look no further. The coffee was hot, the bacon was crispy and the service was friendly & prompt. Uncle Dan’s Diner is named after a famous Albany politico and the dishes reflect the historical feel. I dug it.
