Good wine, nice setting. They have a huge variety. There is a patio, and you can walk around the vineyard. I do recommend it.

This is by far the best winery around! We’ve been there countless times and have never had a bad experience. The staff have always been phenomenal and the wines they offer are great! So great that we only drink Dennis Vineyards muscadine wine. Nothing says the south like sweet muscadine wine and great hospitality! If sweet wines aren’t really your thing, they do offer dry, semi dry, and other wines not made from muscadines but from Niagra grapes like the Nectar wine, and other fruit wines. If you go, you must try their Sweetheart wine, which is my favorite. They do offer seasonal wines like White Christmas, Christmas, and Harvest Gold. They are so good we usually stock up while they’re around to have throughout the year. You will not be disappointed! (They also offer a painting class called Twisted Pallet once a month that is a must do)

Lovely winery, very warm and welcoming hosts and a beautiful vineyard. We visited on a Sunday afternoon, tasted 6 of their wines and spent a lazy sunny afternoon on their porch overlooking the vines. The current tasting fee(May 2015) is $ 4 for 6 wines or $ 8 for 12 wines, and in both cases you get to keep the glass as a souvenir. This is very reasonable. If we lived closer(we’re visiting from TX) we would be coming here often. Come out, bring a snack(or not, I think they offer cheese boards), Scrabble or Backgammon, or good book; relax, listen to the birds chirping, and have a good time.

My boyfriend and I had a Groupon for a wine tasting and tour and we are so glad we made the trek from Charlotte to Albemarle! The staff is incredibly friendly, the wine tasting was so much fun. It was a great selection. It started pouring right as we were about to take the tour but that didn’t stop the owner from giving a great, funny tour! We had a great time, bought a lot of wine to bring home. Will definitely be going back at some point.

Their wine is decent and thankfully they offer more than just Muscadine. Their tasting room is small and doesn’t offer much else. I like some of the other local wineries that offer gifts, snacks, etc. The patio only had 4 or 5 tables that were taken up by kids running around. They are right on a main road so I didn’t feel safe having the pups in the front lawn. Not much to look at, not much space, decent wine and prices. It was a perfect place to stop after hiking in Morrow Mountain and heading back to Charlotte but I wouldn’t trek out here otherwise.

The have the sweetest wines. The Carlos Sweet is my favorite. And I love the Christmas wine as well. If only this vineyard was closer to my house.

If you like sweet wines and warm NC hospitality, stop by Dennis Vineyards! We decided to stop by after we toured Stony Mountain mainly because we were so close. One of the owners(Amy, I believe) greeted us right away and was just so nice! Our plan was just to stop in and look around, but we decided to partake in the cheap as can be(or even free) wine tasting! It’s free for 6 wines in a plastic tasting cup, or $ 3 for a tasting in a glass you get to keep. You get to pick any 6 from their huge wine list and she customizes a tasting just for you! Amy was so nice she even threw in a bonus for us to taste — along with the story behind the wine! A sweet port-style dessert wine made with bing cherries(Fire). And some chocolate chips to taste it with! Now, unfortunately, these wines were not my taste — they were quite sweet. But we did end up purchasing the Deuces Wild and a bottle of the Cabernet — because, hey, it was Small Business Saturday after all! Even though the wines were sweeter than I am, I’m glad we stopped in and would recommend you give them a try. Especially considering it’s free, how can you say no?

Another sweet wine maker in NC. This one is apparently more popular than some of the other smaller wineries in the area. I stopped in there last weekend and tried some of their wine. I’m not a sweet wine lover so I already knew I wasn’t going to be in love with any of what they had. I was surprised that they had a cab so I ended up buying a few bottles of that. It wasn’t the best cab I’ve ever had but I appreciated their effort so much I felt obligated! The tasting room is pretty small but the best part is they offer up to six tastings for free where as most places will charge a minimal fee to do so. That is a nice touch.

Wine 5⁄5(For Muscadine only) Best Muscadine wine I’ve had in Charlotte. Literally 20+ varieties… you cannot even taste everything they offer in one day or your palette will explode. Great price for tasting 12 and keeping a glass. They offer unique wines such as totally dry muscadines, and great blends. Property/Views 2⁄5 In farmland, some views, up to date facilities, but nothing spectacular. Owners/Workers 2⁄5 Had a rushed and inpersonal experience when there(though it was crowded). Staff helping me did not seem to know much about wine. Tour/Extras n/a After coming here, we ended up buying a GroupOn to come back from a tour and to taste the ones we did not get to the first time. Drive-worthy? Yes if you are in Charlotte or the nearby area and you like/love Muscadine wine. Or don’t drive out, and purchase instead at Total Wine:

Dennis winery is on a gorgeous property in Stanly county just outside albemarle. They are the oldest winery in this area and have a great sales staff because all the grocery stores carry their muscadine varietals. Wine lovers will smartly read this review and stay away… Other who like bbq and shag music will discount my words and have a great Saturday on the lawn like my wife and I did! Enjoy the property and bring some good wine with you!

Dennis is my favorite winery in the Charlotte region! The wines are great, both the European as well as the Muscadine varieties. Big surprise: this place makes a bone dry muscadine wine! Really fun to try and really tasty. This place has greatly heightened my appreciation of this local grape. If the intense sweetness of muscadine wines has put you off in the past, absolutely give these wines another try! The owners are so fun and friendly! The tour was funny and entertaining, the tasting was generous and informative. Bottles are not expensive at all, usually two-three dollars cheaper than at other local wineries and, to my palate, much tastier. Look out for the special events they seem to periodically do. I haven’t been to one myself, but they sound fun. Spring Fling on April 20th has food vendors, live music, hayrides and arts and crafts.

My husband and I stopped by Dennis Vineyards last weekend for a tasting. Great experience! I tried a little bit of everything, from the dry whites to sweet reds. We really enjoyed Carlos in the buff. Great muscadine white wine! Looking forward to going back and trying some different wines next time!

On my last visit to NC I decide to visit some local wineries. It was nice they were doing alot of tastings that day. The blackberry and peach wines are really good. They have a small seating area outside. It is a nice winery.

So, one day when my boyfriend was in town, we decided to venture out to the Dennis Vineyards. I didn’t know much about it, other than it was fairly close to Charlotte. But I’m always up for supporting local wineries. The first thing I noticed was their plentiful selection of wines, most of which are muscadines(which is made with a sweeter grape). Several of them are similar, like their Carlos and Carlos in the Buff(one made with the grape skins, one without). I was amazed by the subtle differences in the wine. They have a large selection from a very sweet wine to a dryer wine, and offer great white and red wines. Their fruit wines are all made with natural fruit, and they are all on the sweet side. They have some seasonal and holiday wines as well, with their Spring and both Christmas wines being sweeter, and their Holiday a slightly drier wine. Personally, my favorites are the Bear Creek White(a dryer, oaked wine) and Carlos in the Buff. I’ve been assisted by both the wife and daughter who own it, and both of them were very nice and helpful, directed you toward wines that suit your palate better. If you go there, you can taste up to 6 wines without paying anything, or you can taste 12 and get a souvenir glass for $ 6. And the wine prices are mostly between $ 9 – 11. My only complaint is that I can’t buy my favorite wines in town, but you CAN find their Carlos, some fruit wines, and occasionally their holiday wines here in Charlotte. They sell them at Wine & More or at the Healthy Home Market on South. On our last visit to Dennis, they told me that you can special order at Wine & More their wines not regularly carried, but she believes you need to order a whole case to do so. I guess that means I’ll just have to get a whole case to drink, or find a friend who likes the same kind of wine as me. You can also mail order their wines, but you have to pay for shipping. If you’re up for a drive out toward Albemarle, this winery is a little gem. It’s only about 45 to 50 minutes from uptown Charlotte.

This place rocked! I think they are the oldest vineyard in North Carolina(or at least the area). I finally found a muscadine wine I liked and bought a bottle of their version of a muscadine hinted merlot. All the fruit wines were awesome too. They had a wedding across the street so I didn’t enjoy any atmosphere, but the ladies helping me were very southern and sweet. I was just relieved to find a North Carolina Muscadine wine that I enjoyed! hurray! They also sent me along to Stony Mountain which had the BEST view of the whole day.
