This is a gem in the Minnesota State Park System. There is a very diverse landscape with many trails to hike, along with a paved bike trail that leads back into the city as well. There is abundant water access for both boating, canoe rental, and miles of lake shore with excellent fishing opportunity. There are two completely separate camping areas each with a unique experience as well.

This park is great. It has wonderful canoe-in camping sites, four or five of them, and they’re all pretty awesome. Some are bigger than others but they’re all delightful, private and serene. You can rent canoes here and while it’s a little steep at about $ 20 per day, you can always bring your own canoes or just share one with your camping mates. This park is really all about getting out on the beautiful lake. If you walk to one of the canoe-in sites you are in for quite a haul, especially with all your gear. The first time I camped here we walked to the closest canoe-in site while it was slightly raining and threatening to storm. It was a bit miserable to walk. The park is gorgeous, though, and I would highly recommend getting out on the water while you’re here.
