At first blush, this appeared to be a rather poorly done children’s museum, with most things rather shabby and in need of refurbishment. But there was something different about this facility in rural Michigan. This is obviously an agricultural region, and part of the museum is devoted to learning about farming. Large photos of different farm animals, with explanatory notes about what they produce and eat, with buckets in front of them, with plastic samples of their«food». A silage bin with a conveyer belt you can put the food on, and while a wheel is turned, the belt carries the food up to the hopper. Hint to the management: that wheel really needs to be lubricated; it took great effort for me to turn it, let alone a child. The farm area alone makes this museum worth a visit. It’s about an hour west of Ann Arbor.
