My wife and I love this little ice cream place that opened in Albion last summer(July 2011). We visit Maine once each summer and were pleased to find it still in operation(July 2012). It has great ice cream at great low prices(prices start at just $ 1 for a single scoop). It’s just a little road-side building. You get your ice cream at the outside window. There is just one outside picnic table with a sun canopy. No credit cards. It’s open noon to 8:30 pm 7 days a week(during the summer anyway). The staff are friendly. The ice cream is from Sugar Maple Creamery(14 choices as of this writing), plus six Hood premium ice cream choices. They also offer banana splits, bottled water and soft drinks. We’ve only had the Sugar Maple Creamery flavors. My wife is a maple walnut fan who has tried it at numerous places in Maine and likes this best. My parents and myself also think the Maple Walnut is top-notch. My favorite flavor is the Maine Wild Blueberry. The Black Raspberry and Coffee are excellent as well. An added treat was the homemade carrot cake, which was offered one night. It was excellent and much better than I have had in many restaurants. Rich creamy frosting and moist cake. The cake was so good it didn’t need the icing. It was a last minute purchase after we had already gotten our ice cream. I thought I would just have a taste of it, but it was worth eating the whole slice. Very generous size slice for $ 2.50.
