I really enjoyed eating here. Come early to avoid the lunch rush. Got yummy fresh kimchee and loved the pancakes. It was a little slow to get our hot tea. But excellent services. Everyone was nice. Presentation was great and will be back there to eat.

Moving out here from LA, I was really worried that I won’t have any legit East Asian food unless I cook it by myself but this café make me feel like I’m in K town in LA: D So relieved. I will probably come back here every week! Lol Great service and great food.

The Asian Pear was such a nice surprise for lunch! The owner was SO nice! The were experimenting with new recipes and the the entire room with a spicy noodle soup and vegetable tempera. Both were delicious and menu ready! The Spicy Pork(Daegi Bul Gogi) plate was visually appealing, so full of flavor and very filling. The Soucy Pork Bowl was just as delicious! The BBQ Chicken(Dak Gui) Bowl was also very good. The proteins in all of the dishes we moist and prepared perfectly and the house sauces were full of flavor but didn’t over power the meal. I will definitely be returning to Asian Pear and so should you!

A great little gem right downtown. The bibimbap was outstanding. Lot’s of hot and cold vegetables and thin cut, marinated beef that was so tender and flavorful. Can’t wait to go back!

No wonder that this place was recommended. The food was excellent with the right price. If you are looking for affordable place to eat. This is the one. I love Korean food. The owners are very nice also.

Delicious, fresh and just right after days of Mexican food(not that I’m complaining about that). Affordable and good sized portions. The people who run this place are incredibly sweet and generous too; they kept bringing out free samples! The bi bim bop and veggie pancake were especially great.

Spicy pork bowl with brown rice and added Kim chi! Oh boy! My companion had BBQ bento box. Both portions were colorful, plentiful, and flavorful. As a quick little lunch shop, this place is fantastic. The woman running the shop was quite attentive and a treat. Highly recommend if you enjoy quick, tasty food

For me when I see two different Asian countries names on a sign I avoid that spot like the plague. I was hesitant about this place and had heard nothing about it from friends. There menu is small but the food is delicious. I had the don katsu plate with curry and it was wonderful. The staff was very pleasant. Not sure why they say Korean and Japanese on the menu but it is for sure Korean food. Can’t wait to try the kimchi chigea next time they have it for a special. Good amount of food for what you get. Again this place is not trying to be fusion or do to much. It’s true to the style of Korean food which is refreshing in a town where real Korean food is hard to find.

It pains me to give this place a good review based solely on personal reasons. I’m not a huge fan of Asian cuisine. I don’t know, maybe it’s because I feel hungry like an hour later. Or maybe it’s just because I feel super bloated. Nah, it’s probably because if I let my dude choose our dining cuisine it is because he’ll choose cheap Chinese food EVERYSINGLETIME. I told you… purely personal. However, this place does not fit into any of those categories above. I’m doing it — four stars! Their customer service, the quality of their food and super clean establishment stands out among the choices in the downtown area. I had the Bento Box C — Spicy pork. The box comes with some salad, two pot stickers, a piece of tempura shrimp, carrot and onion, and white rice — .50 cents more and you can get brown rice. The marinade on the spicy was not at all spicy but it had a great flavor. I really enjoyed it! Go figure! Check this place out if you find yourself in the downtown area.

Despite the overwhelming number of Korean-owned sushi joints in town, Albuquerque has long suffered from a dearth of Korean restaurants. Finally Asian Pear has arrived to help fill in that gap! I’ve eaten here a handful of times with my sister and friends, and every time I’ve been impressed with the food and overwhelmed with the service. As for the food itself, I’m a big fan of the japchae and bibimbap. The food overall tastes similar to the good Korean restaurants in California, although I personally find the meats to be slightly on the sweet side, but it’s not terrible. I usually judge a place first by its food quality and care little about service, but this place is amazing. The family is so kind and walks you through the ordering, but in addition each time I’ve gone they’ve offered us free sides and dishes! The first time they gave us kimchi, vegetable pancake(jeon), and watermelon to end the meal. The second time it was more kimchi, cantaloupe, and a whole plate of lemon chicken, which the owner was trying out to tentative have on the menu. I feel very welcomed each time I go, as if I’m in someone’s home. Head over when you have a lunch free and support a lovely local family and business that offers essentially the only Korean food in town!

Very happy I checked this place out. I can’t speak to it’s authenticity at all, but I can say that a server came by with all of these little snacks which was sooooo fun! I will definitely be back for those vegetable pancakes that everyone keeps mentioning. They are seriously delicious. The only thing I wasn’t too crazy about was the place itself. Something about that location is just grimy and also it was pretty hot in there that day, but maybe it’s not like that everyday. The lunch portion was also sort of small, I might not have been satisfied without the fun little samples.(I had the bi bim bop [such a fun name!]) But at the end of the experience I left very satisfecha.

I haven’t got much to tell you, but what I’ve got is good. I ran in here to grab something to go and bring back to the office. Easy to find, the place is spacious inside with lots of tables. The woman at the counter was friendly and was working it, bagging, talking, ringing up … she was doing the work of 2.5 people and making it look easy. I looked at the menu and panicked for a second. Everything was chicken/pork/dead things. So I asked if they had anything vegetarian and she said SURE! You can get any of those things with tofu, which isn’t on the menu. So just say Tofu friends, and you will be rewarded. I got the curry vegetable bowl with tofu. I’m eating it now and after putting a little soy and that red hot stuff in it I have to say, its darn good. The place was clean, including the potty, and the kitchen looked like it was tidy. While I was waiting for my order a woman came in to grab her phoned in order — duh! That’s what I should have done. Next time.

Awesome! So… local Unilocaler here needed a late lunch and drove on Central Downtown pondering(once again) «where shall I stop?». LUCKYME, Asian Pear was open on a rare Saturday due to Summer Fest. I had been wanting to eat here but can’t because I work Uptown(which needs more local restaurants btw but that’s another rant later). So I parked one block away. YES, you can do this on Central Downtown sometimes. I had their delicious chicken bowl which is NOTHING like those Chicken Terikyaki places dotting the landscape with mundane piles of fatty chicken on mounds of rice. This was all freshly prepared to order. I was so happy that I got to try Asian Pear. Give it a try and continue to support local restaurants and those Downtown that could use a few more table turns.

I was browsing around on Unilocal for some restaurants to try out and this one stuck out since it had 5 stars AND it was just one dollar sign. I’m thinking to myself, how can this be? That’s when I clicked on the link and started perusing through the reviews. After reading all the reviews, I knew I had to try it out. I took some time out and went with a friend and my little brother today and we were definitely not disappointed. Just to keep several things in mind as you read this review. I’ve gone to school in California so I’ve had a lot of opportunities to try out different Asian food. Because of that, I do have some sort of standard when it comes to Asian food. It’s very, VERY hard to find decent Asian food in Albuquerque but this restaurant was able to meet my standards. It’s a pretty decent sized space as soon as you walk in. It’s not decorative but simple, which I like a lot. As soon as you step in, you’re immediately greeted by the owner. When we were glancing at the menu, she made sure we knew what everything on the menu was. If we had any questions, she was eager to answer them, which came off to me as good customer service. When we had finished ordering and took our seats, she quickly came out with a plate of Kim Chi pancake, which was absolutely bomb. It was savory, light, and a little spicy. I assume that right now, it’s just for promotion since they had just opened the restaurant 7 months ago. However, if you are lucky and you get a chance to try it, I recommend that you do. As for me, I ordered the bulgogi plate which came out to be absolutely tasty! The rice was good(and pretty cool since it was shaped in a triangle) and the meat itself was a good amount as well. I also had kim chi on the side and it was definitely one of the best kim chi I’ve ever had. After I had finished my plate, I couldn’t help but smile and feel extremely satisfied. When I asked my friend and my little brother, they too smiled in agreement of how good the food was. For the price you are getting, it’s a good amount and I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants good Asian food! Overall: 4.7 Food: 5 Service: 5 Location: 4

So delicious! I have been here three times, each time for lunch, and have been given exceptional service and amazing, authentic Korean food. The staff even gave complimentary kimchee and vegetable pancake that make me wake with cravings for more! I wish they did a dinner service on days besides Friday’s, but otherwise they are amazing and a happy addition to Downtown Albuquerque.

Being from LA, I am extremely spoiled when it comes to top notch Asian food. Asian Pear offers tremendous value and pleasant service from a wonderful and pleasant owner. I ordered the combo plate with chicken and bbq pork. Delicious! Flavors were a welcome relief after craving some Korean bbq. I also recommend the Korean pancake. Great and worthwhile appetizer for those with a bigger appetite. Good local spot for those in the downtown Albuquerque area.

This food is absolutely terrific, and amazing for the price. Prepare to get full for under $ 8! My husband said that this restaurant is incredibly friendly, probably the friendliest restaurant he’s ever been in and I have to agree. In a sentence: «Hard to tell which I liked more, the staff or the food!» Just come and enjoy!!!
