Dan’s Boots & Saddles

Two words: Customer service.
Every time I buy local I remember the benefits. I bought a pair of boots at Dan’s. Miranda was really helpful for fitting etc. A week later I had to take the boots in for a manufacturer (not Dan’s) issue in the sole. Marty (the boot whisperer ;)) went above and beyond. He verified the issue, agreed to do right by me, and I walked out a new pair free of hassle. Honestly, I’m just not used to this sort of customer care. Dan’s stands by their product and their customers. No store is perfect but these guys took care of me from start to finish. 5 stars well deserved.

Staff at Dan’s are very nice.
I just found out they sell beekeeping equipment. Because this isn’t their specialty, staff have made an effort to connect with local beekeepers so they know what info to give to their customers and how to point them in the right direction.

I’m in the market for some boots and hadn’t heard of this place until my hub mentioned it to me. They have a great selection and really decent prices. Good boots can be expensive, but it looks like they have sales often. They have a large selection of men’s and women’s boots in every size, shape, and design. They measured my foot (which was a plus) and told me why I have such issues finding shoes. My feet are super narrow (A width) and one of my feet is almost a ½ size bigger than the other. I guess I’m a freak of nature, haha. They didn’t have any boots in the narrow width I needed, but they did talk about the brands that make them. They also made some suggestions about using insoles to help lift my foot up in the boots and being able to get away with a regular width boot. The older gentleman that helped me was very knowledgeable about all of the boots they had. He also found out that a size that worked better for me will be coming in this coming week… so I’ll be stopping back by Dan’s for sure. The customer service was very notable, as was the great selection and prices available.

We have been shopping at Dan’s since the mid 80’s and the charm, friendliness, loads of choices, and good tack smell all still exist.
It’s helpful the store is divided and even has two entrances, one for people needs like clothing, boots, riding gear and tack, etc and the other outdoor equipment /​animal needs such as food, grooming, bedding, etc. Makes for a quick shopping experience if you know what you want. They have supplies for many different animals: horses, cows, chickens, dogs, rabbits and much more. Some grains can be bought by the pound.
The prices for some items are more than I might spend at other stores but they are in my neighborhood and have a wide variety so sometimes it’s helpful to get everything needed in one place.

I was just here for boots, so I can’t speak to other aspects of this store. I can talk about boots, though.
I love cowboy (girl) boots. I wore my last pair down to the nubbins (literally, I wore a hole through the sole). I loved them so much. They fit my feet like a glove and they wore in perfectly. I want another pair, but it isn’t that easy. If I’m going to spend $$$ on shoes, I need to love them, they need to fit perfectly, and they need to last.
Dan’s was my first stop on my cowboy boot hunt. I tried on several pairs, but I found them to be ill-​fitting in irritating ways. They were the right size, but they squeezed my feet in bizarre ways, at bizarre areas. Once the boots were on, I realized I didn’t like how they felt or the material they were made out of. Most of the boots here seem to be at a lower price point (and from what I could tell, quality) than I was looking for. I don’t want to go cheap on boots and wear them out in a few months. I do this to enough shoes, I don’t want to do it to boots.
I left empty handed. The staff were nice enough, but the boots here weren’t for me. My search continues.

Dan’s Boots & Saddles is a family-​owned mega retail shop for just about everything for western lifestyle lovers — catering to riders, fans and animals (especially horses). There’s an immense selection of boots (both western and work), hats, clothing, and accessories in addition to saddles, chaps and various riding necessities. They are also a large feed store carrying all varieties of feed for horses as well as pet supplies for all kinds of animals. This is a perfect example of a one stop shopping destination.
The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. They can answer just about any question you may have and with a smile. Prices run the whole gamut, depending on style, quality and materials.
There’s a definite dearth of stores of this kind in the immediate ABQ area, but after a visit to Dan’s, you will understand why there’s only one in town.
