Unilocalers, be sure to «Check In» and check out their free chips & dip! Yeah, potato chips and French onion dip are generally something you enjoy while sitting in your Easy Boy watching the much anticipated latest episode of «Game of Thrones.» Nevertheless, theirs are homemade, thick and warm! Ditto, I’m pretty sure that French onion dip was homemade as well, pretty damn tasty I tell ya! By the way, their Green Chile Cheeseburger topped with a fried egg was pretty tasty too! Mind you, this was around noon or so on Sunday and off of their brunch menu, but I liked it! Quite a bit! Nice vibe! Nice outdoor seating area, nice service, decent prices, how can one complain, huh? Since they refer to themselves as a «Steakhouse,» I think I shall return one day and partake! When I do, I’ll be sure to give you the full skinny!

Brought my family in from California for happy hour drinks and snacks. Food is delicious, great selection of local craft beer and courteous service. Clara is a delight, prompt, knowledgeable and a sweet server. My family loved everything and happy to know everything is made local. The patio is quiet, comfortable and relaxing. We had a great time.

Chips and onion dip was the bomb! I don’t usually eat much chips before a meal but I couldn’t stop eating Kasey’s potato chips and onion dip, tasty. I ordered chicken fried filet mignon with green chili cheese potatoes. The filet mignon was okay, others may like it but it is more of personal preference. I should have ordered their green chili burger because it looked so good and my husband polished his off at no time. The green chili cheese potato was very good. My daughter’s French fries are also good. Kasey has a way with potatoes. The place looked good, clean and inviting. Even though we dined outdoor right by the fence next to a busy Washington road, Kasey managed to provide an inviting nook with trees shading the patio dining area and healthy looking rhododendrons and other plants. I would definitely recommend this place will go back again!

Extremely friendly and serviceable staff and waitor. However the food was less than average. My steak was burned on the outside covering up the taste of any seasoning it had. The butter topping with my steak was not all that great. My lady ordered a chicken salad and the chicken wasn’t edible. Cold and dry chicken. Although I appreciated the friendliness of the owner and the waitor the food was well below par for me.

My husband went and tried this place out and were very excited! When we got there we should have known it was not going to be a good experience. We waited over 10 minutes for our drinks and the server did not come back for a while. Once he came back we ordered an appetizer, the pretzels, I love pretzels! They looked good when we got them, we started to eat them and they were not even cooked through out! It was disgusting! We got our meal finally and it also was not impressive. We were wanting a nice night out and it was a bad experience and even worse food! We will not be back to Kasey’s, we live in the surrounding neighborhood and should have asked our neighbors before going because they also had a horrible experience! Never go there!

This place surprised me because I didn’t think I would like it going in. However, they had some great appetizers and the service was very good. Can’t say my steak was the best I’ve had, but it wasn’t bad by any means.

When we pulled into the parking lot of Kasey’s my first impression was that Kasey’s will be a greasy burger place but was surprised when I walked in to find a well polished/polite staff and eating area. We were greeted with smiles and well informed staff. The staff were very attentive to us but allowed us privacy during our conversations and meal. Unfortunately, we were in a rush and only had time for drinks and appetizers so I will have to return for the entrées. The staff were not aware that we were in a hurry and our food still came out quickly. The chef also came to our table(and others) to ask how our meal was, I really like it when the chef shows interest in their customers! Kasey’s has a great wine selection and beers on tap! The red chili pork egg rolls were perfect and full of flavor plus it comes with a barbecue dipping sauce so it challenges your mind and palate. The deconstructed wedge salad was excellent. Don’t forget to check-in because you will quickly receive freshly made chips and French onion dip while you still figure out what you want to eat. I will definitely return to Kasey’s when I have more time to enjoy an entire meal and desert! I will be returning and so should you!

I tried this place during an unofficial Unilocal event and I can’t wait to go back. My husband and I split the Stardust which is an English muffin, filet mignon and bearnaise sauce. Every bite was so melty delicious that I woke up the next day thinking about bearnaise… No joke! Since I’m not into hollandaise sauce I never gave French sauces much thought, until now. Now I dream of Kasey’s bearnaise. The service was friendly and attentive. They split our Stardust onto two plates and refilled coffee or waters as needed. The atmosphere is much fancier than it looks on the outside and prices are on the high side. It seemed like it might be a special occasion type place for me until I heard that they have an amazing happy hour with house made soft pretzels and bar cheese. I will definitely be back to check out happy hour and reconnect with my new favorite sauce over brunch.

Hello ABQ diners! I’m catching up on reviews for over 10 places I’ve dined in over the past couple of months. As you know, I support local restaurants where ever I go. Some friends took me to Kaseys and I was happy. I was curious about a restaurant opening in that building. Overall, it was a great experience. From the theatrical waiter to the boisterous manager(Gary) to the free appetizer(you have to check in) to the good food and ambience. I am going to put this in my mental ‘return to’ list and perhaps try brunch. I hope they are prosperous in 2016!

I should have wrote this review a few weeks ago, but the holidays just got in the way. First of all everything was wonderful. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the owner and her husband and seated. The atmosphere is very nice it was at night so the lights were slightly dimmed and it is perfect for a romantic dinner. We checked in on Unilocal and to our surprise we received a free chips and dip offer. They were great, I took home my extra dip! I ordered the Coffee-Rubbed Steak Salad based on the Owner’s husband’s recommendation(by the way he is awesome and very friendly) and I am so glad I listened to him. This salad is just nothing but just awesome goodness. My husband ordered a steak(I don’t recall which one) and he said it was very very good. Then came dessert… bread pudding with no raisins!.. he was so happy(BTW he hates raisins). This place is just all around wonderful, great service with great food you can’t go wrong with Kasey’s.

3.5−4 stars. I’ve been passing this place regularly for several months and despite the mixed reviews have been wanting to try it. Stopped in on a Friday night around 7 pm and there was a table available and many by 8:15 pm. Linen table cloths and napkins are a nice touch and they were having a special: $ 1/oz prime rib(minimum 8 oz). My husband and I both had the 8 oz. prime rib and it came with a baked potato($ 1 more for fully loaded) and vegetable of the day(broccoli). My son had the mac and cheese with grilled chicken(and fries! Ugh). We each had a glass of wine. The wine per glass was more expensive than my meal. The food: I really didn’t care for the rubbing on the outside of the prime rib. Too much garlic(powder). It ruined the flavor of the beef and the au jus. I couldn’t tell if it was just the au jus at first, but then realized it was the rub itself. The meat was a perfectly cooked medium rare. The baked potato was good(a little skimpy on the sour cream, but I probably could have asked for more without issue) and the broccoli was almost overcooked. My son’s mac and cheese tasted made from scratch and with the chicken(and fries!!), made for two meals for him. I’m disgusted by the fries not because of anything the restaurant did, but because my son won’t eat has dang vegetables. Anyway… The wine was good and we shared a slice of dense chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream that was delicious. We took a green chile cheeseburger home for my daughter and that was excellent. The ambiance: More upscale, but still casual. Smaller inside than I expected. The owner/chef greeted the tables around us, but didn’t acknowledge us, even on the way out. I’ll be honest, I felt a little snubbed. The rest of the wait staff were quite pleasant. A special for $ 1/oz prime rib can’t be beat – especially since it comes with the sides. I’d come back for the burger and maybe I’ll try a steak without any rub(just salt and pepper, please). They have a small bar, too – I could see hanging there with my hubby. You know, if I didn’t have kids to mind.

Had the barn burger and it was amazing and maybe it’s just cause I have a tolerance for spicy food but I would say it is enjoyably spicy hot spicy. Our waiter was super helpful and really kind and respectful he made sure our drinks were topped off and made sure we were satisfied. The owner also came out and checked on us and asked how our meal was. He was super kind and respectful as well. Today is their one year anniversary so he mentioned they’re offering ribs for a dollar an ounce today and tomorrow. This is a great ABQ hole in the wall everyone must try!

Flank steak sandwich with the green chile onion rings! Yum! I was craving a big meal after my evening at the gym. Luckily Unilocal helped me find this place. Chill atmosphere. There were guys hanging out at the bar watching the football game. I was doing my restaurant review on Snapchat & caught the attention of the workers and the guy who does the Social Media for the place. So through my delicious meal &FREE chips & dip(if you check in on Unilocal) they knew my name. While I was leaving they were saying to me «Alright Shawna we’ll see ya later!» Just as if I was a regular. Oh and great old school country playing(Urban Cowboy Soundtrack)

Fish tacos were amazing! Fried in their homemade green Chile batter, and paired with their green Chile onion rings, amazing combo! Would definitely reccomend, and will eat here again!

Finally tried this place with my dad this week. We had really been looking forward to it for a while, but it was a complete bust! We normally order about a million menu items, but this week we kept it simple. We tried the fish tacos(grilled) with sweet potato fries as the side as well as the steak special, but there wasn’t a thing special about it. The waitress, very sweet girl, brought us dinner rolls after we ordered. The crispy bottom of the dinner rolls was the best part of the meal, sadly. Overall, the food was bland, bland, bland. The fish tacos were about the least interesting fish tacos I’ve ever had, even though they looked colorful and somewhat promising. The sweet potato fries were hot and fresh, but under-cooked and starchy to the teeth. If you’re going to mess up sweet potato fries it should be by overcooking them, that way at least you get those nice caramel flavors. These were just inedible and were left on the plate. The steak was just a steak, nothing exciting about it. The cook on it was nice though. It was served over pan fried potatoes and a few leaves of chard which were just sort of thrown together as a stir-fry type thing under the steak. Nothing on this plate had a drop of flavor, not even from salt. I had to use about half of the salt shaker to season the food just to get it down. Oh yeah, and I was starving and I still didn’t want to eat this food! This really had not been cooked with any seasoning at all. Really, worst $ 30 «special» ever. Actually, the steaks come with these choices of seasoned butters, but the special did not. We had to add one of the butters to give our meal a little something. All that was done to prepare the food on this plate was the application of heat– no love. On the plus side, we did express our dissatisfaction with the meal over all, and the restaurant gave us a free bread pudding! It wasn’t bad. Normally I try to give new places a couple of shots, but because everything on our table failed, I don’t think I’ll be going back. There are too many restaurants in the area.

One of the first lessons I learned about theatre concerned presentation. Great directors know exactly what I’m talking about. If you have a solid script, let the dialogue do the work and likewise, if the dramatic narrative is obviously lacking, feel free to tart up the stage, give the audience a distraction. Same goes for the restaurant biz. If the plates deliver, keep it minimal, let the food speak for itself. On the other hand, if you’re serving up a $ 10 cut of beef for fifty bones, it should be set upon a bed of roses. Kasey’s challenge is the former. The building could house a burrito joint as much as it resembles a steak house, it has that old school Burqueño feel to it. They’ve done an admirable job slapping lipstick on the pig and the dining room and patio work, but it’s still a costume job, good art direction, limited budget. Our waiter virtually nailed his role: endlessly involved, perhaps overbearing, but the kind of guy you’d expect at a steak house, really polished and knowledgeable, while we lounged in our shorts and t-shirts, an open laptop, the opposite of fine diners. Thankfully, this works in the Duke City. For those of you who love getting all gussied up for your big night out, hey, I feel ya, but man do I love the laid-back tone of this town, and Kasey’s welcomes this vibe. So what did I have? The flank steak, which is something I cook up religiously at home. Flank steak is comparatively cheap and altogether fabulous; marinate that s*it in soy sauce/rice vinegar/olive oil/garlic/agave nectar for a day or so and you have a soft taco tango, throw some lettuce, chopped mango and cabbage on top. Here, the steak was good and the presentation, with a smattering of fried onion, luxurious mashed potatoes and some shiny fresh veggies, fit the bill. I liked it, didn’t love it, but really liked it. My estimation: this is a steak house for the people. Plates average $ 10-$ 15, sides are enlightened, the red chile shredded pork egg rolls were rather random and very tasty, huge. They have a solid selection of local beers. If the building could throw on some stilettos they could double the price, but from a personal perspective, I’m not interested. I’m easy, and so is Kasey’s.

One of my new favorite places and worth checking out. Kasey’s is bringing some made in house treats to a remote corner of Nob Hill and offering nice patio seating as well. Everything I’ve tried so far has been very good and the prices are fair, especially during happy hour. Kasey’s has done a great job with the staff! These people have made my visits satisfying. They dress like professionals, are conversational, upbeat and have competent knowledge of the menu. Well done The menu has a range of offerings from Steaks to Tacos. The nice plating and attention to the little things is thoughtful and speaks of quality. The recipe they developed for the Pretzels and Beer Cheese is totally addictive. So is the French Onion Dip that accompanies the house made Chips. Now throw in a cold pint and sunlight filtering through the trees on the porch and things are looking up! I think Kasey’s is building momentum because of the real efforts to serve us an enjoyable experience. I’d say they are 90% there. Adding more color and personality inside the restaurant would get them the rest of the way. It’s got the tablecloths and is very clean and all but also bland in a way that doesn’t match up with the food and service. A few tweaks and Kasey’s gets the five stars

We’re new residents in the Nob Hill area, but this has been our stomping ground for nearly 10 years. Our old favorites are still great, but they’re, well, getting old. We were excited to find Kasey’s, and so close to home. We’ve now been back three times, and we love everything about the place! I’m really not sure what previous diners had to complain about, but I have noticed that everything is better with each subsequent visit. We’ve tried a lot of items, but the steak is our favorite. Never mind what cut you get, the cooks know how to prepare a slab of beef! There’s not much else to say about it. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly prepared. We’ve also had a taco, a burger and the steak salad. Delicious! The kids menu is also exceptional. The chicken tenders are made with REAL chicken! Amazing, right? The Mac n cheese is creamy and the grilled chicken on top is cooked to moist perfection. The local beer selection is icing on the cake, and the patio, though small, is a nice place to enjoy an evening meal. We’ll be back, again and again. Hoping Rebecca is always there, cause she’s the best!

I had a delicious, fresh yellow tail grilled to perfection served atop a savory bbq risotto with a sautéed kale cabbage blend finished with a decadent sarracha aioli! Our waiter Derek was on top of everything and provided excellent service. The Owner, Kasey, came out and spoke with our table to make sure everything was to our liking. Great place to catch a game at their groovy little bar to chow down a quality burger or to have a date night with a selection of artful entrees! Definitely an up and coming new local spot. Check it out!

I am so happy to see this place making a go of it because it’s minutes away from my SE Heights house by car. I’ve eaten here a couple of times, most recently today for Sunday brunch. I ordered the chicken-fried filet mignon with eggs and potatoes; my boyfriend ordered the Stardust: an English muffin topped with filet medallions, mushrooms, and Hollandaise, and eggs and potatoes on the side. The food was very good. I appreciated that the cream gravy that came with my entrée wasn’t oversalted. The filet was lost on me because it was chicken-fried; however, since chicken-fried steak is often low-quality and gristly, I was really glad that wasn’t the case here! Everything was tasty and filling; the server was friendly; the bathrooms were clean. Some cons: There was a hair in my boyfriend’s Hollandaise. When the server brought our tea, she didn’t bring the usual array of sweeteners or ask if we wanted half-and-half. The plates really need a little garnish of fruit, like an orange slice, a couple of strawberries, something, to brighten them. I wish they offered some kind of green vegetables on their brunch plates, like spinach, kale, zucchini, etc. I didn’t see any of those options on the menu as a side. However, they do have a salad that has bacon in it and is topped with a poached egg. There is something about the décor that’s a little sterile. The place needs some color accents. It’s too white.(Obviously, that has nothing to do with the food, but I’m hoping the owner will read this.) I like this place and will keep coming back. I hope they’ll continue to refine things. It’s a promising place. Next time: Patio dining with my dog!
