I use to love coming here but now it’s a place that I can live without. The calamari looks like fish sticks, the salsa is really liquified, and the enchiladas look and taste like I could have made it at home for $ 3. Not to sure what happened to this place

We came here on a Sunday night around 8pm. Los Cuates wasn’t busy so we were seated right away and promptly attended. Chips and salsa were okay… there’s something a bit off with the salsa. Not sure what it is… it was a little spicy. I ordered the Taco Salad with chicken and my date ordered the Fajitas Special. My Taco Salad wasn’t the best. The shell holding the salad was sad and wilted. Also, Los Cuates could you turn the lights up a bit? I couldn’t tell the difference between my lettuce and avocado because the lights were so dim. I am giving two stars because my food wasn’t great, but mostly because our stomachs hurt throughout the night– something wasn’t right with our food. Must’ve been the salsa? Not too sure… service was quick, staff wasn’t too friendly.

I’m giving this restaurant 2 stars because this was half our fault. We failed to check the Unilocal reviews before we entered. [didn’t have my phone] We also chose this restaurant because there were few cars in their parking lot for a Sunday. So, there ya go. .. Half on us. Folks, the only thing remotely Mexican about this restaurant is the music they played. It seems they cater to Caucasian people /tourists who don’t exactly enjoy spices of any kind. Now, I get that they’re technically New Mexican food but, even that’s no excuse. The food was virtually tasteless and the $ 16.00 Fajita Platter was a total joke. Minuscule at best. 3 pieces of green bell pepper, very few purple onions and 4 pieces of chicken. The Combination Platter with Chiles Rellenos was beyond greasy, limp and tasteless as well. Trust me, I even tasted them. My partner only ate 3 bites [total] one of each item, and quickly pushed her plate away. Even the complimentary chips and salsa were just weird? The salsa tasted as tho it’s Ketchup based? So weird?! They sat us by the bathroom. Always fun. And, there was a large party seated right by us with children who screamed incessantly! And, I mean SCREAMED folks! We would have complained but, numerous others already had. There were SEVERAL promises that a manager would handle the situation but, NO manager ever arrived. The staff was beyond hurried and we never at any point saw any employee smile. Even our own waitress. Just save your money. Unless of course, you’re a Caucasian with a pallet that appreciates literally nothing. Hey, some people are sensitive to spices and I can appreciate and respect that. However, if you do enjoy taste, spices, little grease, decent prices and a soothing atmosphere, save your 30 bucks + tip. Again, this is on me as well. I should have walked out the second I was forced to ask our impatient server for another ice water that didn’t have a 1″ tortilla [?] we think, floating in it. We’re always great tippers but, this was the lowest tip we’ve ever left in our entire history. You’ll never see us again and, if I have anything to say about it, neither will any of my friends or family. See ya!

You mean Gross Cuates! Please don’t call yourself«New Mexican» because my mother never opened a can of refried beans to serve with dry rice. She also never opened a can of chopped green chile and put some on top of processed cheese and dry beef pattie and called it a Green Chile Cheese Burger. You use frozen patties and didn’t ask me how I wanted it cooked? And getting a chile relleno with shredded cheese that you microwaved to melt just made it sit in a pool of grease. Even I know you should be cooking to order if you want to claim a New Mexican cooking title and I mostly eat chips and salsa. Oh, and the salsa that we started with was ketchup with chile in it. Gross! And way over priced for bad food.

First off if I had a Mexican restaurant I’d make sure the guacamole was fresh and good. It’s simple to make and delicious. We were served brown guac in a tiny plastic tub. This immediately put me off. The tacos were greasy and uninventive. The fajitas were actually pretty good. The staff were friendly but very slow. Overall it would 2 and a half stars.

This location is definitely different than the other ones in town. We came in around 1 today and funny thing how they sat us at the very last table by the kitchen and the bathroom. Not only was it loud, irritating but also wasn’t impressive of a service at all. Were we not dressed not? I don’t think so, why then would you sat us all the way back there without even asking us hey is it ok if we decided to treat you both like you don’t matter!!? On my left hand side there was the bathroom and kitchen, on my right hand side there was a large party of at least 20 kids. Foods were not impressive at all, I ordered tacos and tortilla burger, we asked for ketchup and about an hour later, still nothing. Burger meat was so dried up and the tacos were so greasy. Also, if you decided to take my drink and refill it, wait for me to finish chewing so I can answer you what is my drink. Don’t just grab it and walk away. Why then 2 stars? Your honey was good, your diet pop was impeccable, sadly your foods and services were no where close to your honey and diet soda. Will you see me at your location again? Probably not.

I needed a New Mexican«food fix», so in I came. Service, as always, was spot on. Nick, my server, was at my table at all the right times and filled my tea every time it was half empty. Ordered the Brunch Combo, single enchilada, single chile rellano, 2 eggs, small amount of potatoes, and of course, sopiallas!!! I took food home! Just the right amoung of Chile heat to get my nose running! Flavorful and filling!!! I’ll be back!

The food here is ok, kinda pricey for Albuquerque. The margaritas are good, but way overpriced. I made a comment to the lead waitress that it reminded me of El Pinto, overpriced food and margaritas, her reply was, «it’s the same owners». Knowing that I won’t be back, not worth what they charge.

So far we ordered the Southwest Calamari, very bland no flavor at all. Service was super fast we got our appetizer and 5 min later we got our food. Andrea was our waitress and she was awesome. My wife ordered an Avacado bacon burger, not to flavor full. Had a wierd taste to it, just not tasty. I ordered the Carneasada plate, the meat was ok again not to flavor full. However the meat were large chunks and suppose a good portion. Will we come back? Maybe but won’t be our first choice. Oh sopillias were good… I give it two stars but if I could do half I would give 2.5.

I visited this spot and for the first time enjoyed their brunch menu. I had the Huevos Rancheros with Carne Adovada, which were excellent and really hit the spot for me — rich adovada with eggs and all the fixings that come with a New Mexican plate. A fantastic meal!

The food here is excellent. I’ve eaten at Los Cuates a few times, and every time, no matter how busy, the service was great. I love the green chili sauce they use, especially in their steak burritos and chimichangas.

Enter the Seafood Chimichanga, lightly fried with Calabasas(corn, onions, bell peppers, squash) and a handsome amount of Avocado on top. Is this«traditional» in the Mexican sense? It’s hard to tell, but as we arrived to Los Cuates, near the Cottonwood Mall, this was a great stop to eat over the other restaurants. Around lunch hour, we were greeted and took our seats. Here, there’s nothing short of a huge spectrum of flavors, tastes, and preferences. I went for something a little different this time and was way into the texture, the taste, and the overall presentation. Not only does it look different, it IS different, adding to the myriad of things you’re going to find while in New Mexico. I really liked Los Cuates, and would definitely try again. Drinking a Straw-garita is HIGHLY, I repeat HIGHLY encouraged as well.

Food was good. Nice restaurant and a good atmosphere. Quick service and they even brought us a few different salsas for our chips. Brought my family here from out of state and they really liked it! The chocolate Vulcan cake was awesome.

In the need for some NM cuisine? In need for a good margarita? Los Cuates does not disappoint. I love the fact that the food is priced well and they have a huge selection of vegetarian options. The calabacitas are awesome! Sopapillas are always made fresh. Nice happy hour drink specials. The only thing I’m not a fan of is the chips and salsa… more like spicy ketsup

I think the take out experience is just as important as the in house dining experience. My family has eaten at the restaurant maybe 4 or 5 times, mediocre experiences all, but the food is decent and we keep coming back. Last night we decided to try take out. Bad idea. The food was still mediocre. There was an error on one person’s order and there were no sopapillas with the order. The manager was called and we asked for them to make it right. We were rudely told that sopapillas only came with the meal if you sit in the restaurant(consolation for the bad lighting and leisurely waitstaff I guess?) and we didn’t get even a simple sorry for the incorrect order. A small apology goes a long way. If you choose to order take out, know that you will get the bare minimum and because you aren’t eating there, the service level and care for your satisfaction are extremely limited. Cruise across the parking lot and go to Gardunos.
