I feel very fortunate to have an independent bookstore like Page 1 in Albuquerque. I have shopped there since I was in high school — 2 locations ago! I think the newest location on Eubank is the best one. The store is bright, welcoming, well organized, and in a shopping center which should bring in many«walk-in» costumers. They support local schools and give(or used to) teacher discounts. They have a wonderful selection of books and are happy to recommend a good read. I like that the new and used books are shelved next to each other. My daughters, mom, and I can spend hours here looking for the perfect books and discovering new authors and a new series to delve into! I like that they have book-themed and other items for sale, too(jewelry, cards, some games). Page 1 is one of my first stops when looking for gifts. They also buy books. I highly recommend you stop by and find a new book to make you happy! Shop local!

This is an adorable local bookstore with New Mexico color and a wide selection. While the new books aren’t any cheaper than Barnes and Noble, the used books are very reasonably priced and they offer a service where you can be notified when they recieve the book you want! The attendants are helpful and well read and can offer lots of suggestions in case you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for. Also make sure to stop in for their events, they’re fun and help support local authors! I visit here at least once a month and always walk away happy :)

We come to this little book store every time we are in town. Its friendly, well organised, clean, prices are clearly marked and(bonus) not written inside the book. They always have something interesting in stock. I find lots of good first editions or older paperback editions in the Sci Fi/Fantasy department. I’m a big fan of this place and I’ll be back soon.

A pretentious millennial cashier at this store needs to learn how to appreciate paying customers. A simple«thank you» is all that’s needed. No, young lady … you are not entitled to my money and I can and will go elsewhere next time. In fact, I can go on line right now and get a much better deal and better customer service. In today’s market and economy, businesses like Page One need to go above and beyond to land local customers. A friendly, knowledgeable, and humble staff is a way to start. Free advice … «you’re welcome.»

This is a GREAT local bookstore with a HUGE selection of both old and new books, with some bargains tucked in the shelves too. They are great to work with as an author as well!

As a Page One customer many years ago I was saddened to find their location changed, but on the bright side it is a bit closer to where I am now. The selection is smaller but the space seems better used if a tiny bit congested. The old atmosphere with the attached coffee shop is now entirely gone, but it remains a solid place to find quality used books.

I was blown away when I came to this Page One a few days ago(on a Saturday). Originally I was slightly upset that Page One moved from its older location down here by Academy, and from the outside it looks sort of cramped, but the inside is lovely and spacious. Not only did they do an excellent job on the inside atmosphere, but the shelves were stocked with books and everything was nicely organized. The store was full of helpful, happy employees that were all talking and smiling, and the two guys who helped me(and the one who was at the cash register) were all incredibly helpful. I had really poor experiences at the old location, particularly with the buy-back staff, so I hope they have new people working there… I actually needed 5 different novels for a college class and they had every single one! The books were so reasonably priced, at about $ 4, $ 5, $ 7, $ 13, $ 17 and even the used ones were in really good condition. There is also a small gift shop section inside, though nowhere as tacky and gigantic as in their old location, and with a lot of local stuff in it. I will definitely be going back(and the La Quiche Bistro next-door is phenomenal as well).

I was disappointed when I realized that Page One had moved. Honestly, I was worried that moving from their very established Montgomery/Juan Tabo location would drive them out of business. But when I visited, I was pleasantly surprised! Not only was I impressed with the selection, prices, and service, but Page One was actually really busy! I knew Page One had a great selection, but I was surprised for the reasonable prices on its books! Granted, I bought used, but there were cheaper alternatives for the books on my list. To give an idea of prices: Of human bondage(pb) — $ 5; The great Gatsby(hb) — $ 4; and 1985(pb) -$ 4. A quick amazon search shows that the prices are basically the same — in fact 1984 and the great gatsby are cheaper at page one! AND you have the benefit of supporting a local book store and receiving your books immediately! How can you put a price on the excitement of eagerly running home, cuddling up in bed with hot cocoa, and reading a great book? Ordering online, you would probably just be sitting on the couch… watching jersey shore… while you wait for your books to be delivered… The employees were also extremely friendly! In the short time I was in the store, I was approached by three employees who offered their help. I was very pleased with their friendly-ness. This isn’t something that I remember standing out from the old location.

I love this new location in the Mtn run shopping center! It’s smaller but definitely not as waspy as their prior locale off Mont & Juan tabo. So, come to find out they don’t offer chair massages anymore :(but that’s cuz their space is much smaller. They do have awesome online coupons tho so be sure to print those or else stop by the front register. & tell ‘em ur printer is busted, lol Since it’s their 33rd anniversary they are hosting all sorts of deals all month long-April, so be sure & check it out! I love that this store offers teachers a 20% discount on their new inventory. How awesome is that??!
