What an incredible culinary experience! My family and I were confused about whether we had a favorite dish, and we left without an answer as EVERYTHING was incredibly delicious! The restaurant owner even gave all the girls in our party a Peruvian doll with an enthusiastic smile, and her passion for her business and culture was palpable. Please treat yourself to this restaurant!

Amazing and flavorful food! The chicken was cooked perfectly and the stuffed potatoes were excellent. You can’t go wrong stuffing mash potatoes with meat and then deep frying it. The rice was great too. I’m not a big fan of cilantro, but the blend of spices in the rice were so perfect that I didn’t mind it. It was our first time in the restaurant and when the owner found out, he provided an order of yuca on the house. Just like everything else on the menu, the yuca was excellent. Make sure to get extra«green» sauce and ask for the«hot» sauce that pairs well with the yuca(and everything else. The only bad thing I have to say about this restaurant is that it is not open for dinner. THE best food I’ve had in Albuquerque!

Quaint little eatery with good food and decent prices. The full portions are very generous and the staff is very helpful and courteous. Next time I am in Alberquerque I will definitely be paying this place another visit!

Hands down some of the best Peruvian food my wife and I have had in a long, long time. We stopped in Albuquerque just for this taste of heaven and were not disappointed. The Pollo saltado, while not completely authentic(chicken was very thinly sliced), was absolutely delicious. Paired with the white or cilantro lime rice, it becomes phenomenal. We ordered Yuca fries, which we often order elsewhere and find they’re too hard/salty/soft, and they were perfect: lightly salted with a crunch and a burst of flavor. The papa rellena was on point as well, maintaining the perfect ratio between bready fluffiness and meaty juiciness. Pick any dish and pair it with their mouthwatering sauces and you’ll be hard pressed not to crave seconds. Homemade chicha morada is also noteworthy, being moderately sweet, appropriately spiced, and completely drinkable. Management is great here. The staff caters with legitimate care and concern, and are not stiffs when it comes to providing extra sauces with the meals. They even gave us an «I Love Peru» magnet on our way out. Atmosphere was minimal but still perfect. If you find yourself in Albuquerque and are tired of punishing your body with generic fast food chains, I beg that you stop in and support this gem of a restaurant. Peruvian restaurants are often difficult to find in the mix these days, and while few and far between, this one isn’t good by default, it’s just good. Treat yourself. You won’t regret it.

I usually get a #6 or a #4, but you really can’t go wrong here… The people are great and the food is fantastic! Recommend the Peruvian Chicha to drink, the Yucca to start, and when you’re done with the meal you probably won’t have room for desert!

Nice, little place with great food. I came in and the owner was very friendly and welcoming. The menu is limited but sometimes that’s a good thing if they really specialize in what they do. That was the case today. Had the chicken thighs, stuffed potato, and chimichangas. These three things make a majority of the menu with a combination of them to make the available entrees. The chicken thigh was lean but moist with lots of flavor. The stuffed potatoes were fried, but not greasy, giving it a lighter crisp texture outside with a soft interior of the mashed potatoes. The chimichangas also had a light fry to them but was still able to keep a crunchy exterior. All the food was very flavorful and I’ll definitely be back.

I drive by this place nearly everyday and each time, I say I am going to eat there tomorrow. Well today is finally tomorrow! I got there around 1145 and the place was packed for lunch(always a good sign). We were greeted right away and offered a table, however we were ordering it to go so we were escorted to the counter. My co-worker recommended that I try the grilled chicken thigh and stuffed potato with a side of yuca fries. I placed my order and sat down to wait and we had our food in about 10 minutes. I made sure to get the aji sauce and the marinated onions(based on previous Unilocal reviews). I am so glad I did! When I got to work and opened my container, I was impressed by the smell. The chicken was amazing and so was the aji sauce. The marinated onions were also very good, I wish I could find out how they made them. My stuffed potato was filled with chicken and even some raisins, I am not sure what else, but I don’t care because whatever it was I liked it. I was not able to finish all of my food and the yuca fries, so I know what I will be having for diner tonight. I highly recommend this establishment, next time you are on Gibson stop by and try it out.

The yucca fries and Aji sauce are out of this world. I mean seriously good. Definitely coming back here the next time I’m in Santa Fe.

My Fiancé and I were on our way from Arizona to Texas, when we decided to stop at this Peruvian place for lunch and it was DEFINITELYWORTHTHESTOP! We had #4 and #6 on the menu. It consisted of Cilantro Rice, Chicken stuffed Chimichanga with lime-marinated onions and aji, Rotisserie chicken leg and thigh & Fried chicken stuffed potato with lime-marinated onions and aji and let me tell you, it was phenomenal! It was a very good portion of food for the price we paid. The owner was so kind and an excellent host which made our experience all the more better! If you are looking for a good place to just relax and have a good meal, this is your spot! :) Enjoy!

One first that I remember from Peru when I visited 10 years ago is getting my first sunburn. I was 24 and it was in December. Yes, that’s right. They’re on the other side of the equator, so it’s summer over there in December. I also remember about four things on the menu when I went there: cuy(fried, salted guinea pig; a delicacy there), ceviche(seafood spread for bread and crackers), an amazingly sweet purple corn and apple cinnamon drink called chicha morada, and an alcoholic drink called pisco sour. Pollito con Papas has the chicha morada and an assortment of Peruvian sodas, like Inca Cola. A little hole-in-the-wall place with different variations on, yup, you guessed it, chicken and potatoes(mainly the stuffed and fried variety). Don’t come here looking for the cuy(guinea pig) or lomo saltado(Peruvian steak). And definitely not the seafood in New Mexico. Like other Unilocalers have said before, you would think a menu without diversity would get boring– but it doesn’t. These people know their specialty and don’t stray far from it. The chicken-stuffed potato is fantastic! I liked it even better than the yucca fries, although they are certainly a delicious treat as well. Although others have raved about the green aji sauce on the fries, I personally preferred their salmon-colored special sauce on the fries and the green aji sauce on our chimichanga, which was perfectly crispy, not greasy, and had chopped chicken inside. The chicken itself is high-quality and is tender and well-seasoned. I like that you can get a family-sized rotisserie chicken dinner with yucca fries here. I will return and probably get something to go the next day for lunch, too. Oh, and for anyone planning to visit Peru, a few tips: *Don’t just stop at Machu Picchu; there are other notable ruins in the Valle Sagrado worth checking out, like Saqsaywaman(?sp) and Ollaytaytambo. *If you like to hike and want a physical challenge, try the Inca Trail hike up to Machu Picchu. *Watch even the things that are of marginal value to you, as theft is rampant and even those will get stolen. My shirt and towel were swiped on the beach. *Consider staying overnight with a quechua family on the islands of Lake Titicaca. You will have to pump your own water to brush your teeth and they won’t know what Wi-Fi is, but it will be well worth it. This place was recommended to me by Profe, my Spanish professor. Gracias, Profe, por su recomendación.

Most excellent chicken! We got the Fried Yuca as an appetizer… yum. They give you two different very tasty sauces to dip your Yuca strips into. I had the #3 Rotisserie Chicken Breast & Wing with Cilantro Rice. Again, most excellent chicken! It comes with pickled onions(again, very tasty) and the same green sauce that came with the Yuca. The owner made sure everyone was taken care of and checked up on us regularly. My son stuck a fork into his styrofoam cup and spilled his drink all over the table, and the owner not only helped clean it up, he brought extra napkins afterwards because he knew we had used all our napkins to wipe up the spill. If you haven’t been here before, you need to get yourself in here… you will be well taken care of. We will most definitely be back for more!

Every time I come here, the food is always on point! The meat is seasoned so well, the rice has amazing flavor, the aji is so good, the yucca is nice and crisp! Love this place and the people who own it! So sweet and kind!

What’s not to love? Good chicken and good sides! If you’re in the area and looking for a quick lunch of dinner, I would certainly check out Pollito Con Papas. Their menu is not super diverse(basically, different combinations of chicken and their stuffed potato) but, assuming you’re fine with chicken, you shouldn’t have a problem. Vegetarians have an option but really, they are clearly not the target audience(nor should they be at a chicken place). The chicken is very flavorful and well cooked. And the sauces are really out of this world delicious! Tip: Get the yucca fries. A $ 3 up-charge is not small but it’s well worth it! And you can ask for extra sauce!

Stop the presses! Hello??? Are you stopping them? OK great, News Flash!(Imagine hand gestures) The Great Peruvian explorer Manuel Antonio Mesones Muro rolled through Albuquerque and left some eats along the way. Low & behold… Pollito Con Papas! OHMYGOODNESS! What a slice of South American eatery heaven! BTW, a previous reviewer referred to this place as a hole in the wall with good food. I think we need to agree to disagree! It’s not a hole in the wall. Granted, it might be in an austere location, but the building itself is cozy & comfy & clean & the décor is indicative of the restaurants origin. Well, not as if I can attest to this personally since I’ve never been to Peru, but it seems fitting. Regardless, the grub is awesome! Fresh barbequed chicken with that slight smoky flavor. No barbeque sauce, just moist meat with a great flavor! And the chimichanga, To Die For! Well, maybe not die, but to be maimed for! That’s for certain! And the icing on the cake, the Yucca Fries! Oh yes, Yucca Fries! Need I write more? I can damn near throw a rock at this place(not that I would) from my work, so I’ll be popping in quite frequently for the #4. I might even get crazy here & there and try something else. It’s that good! Come on, step away from your safe zone, try some Peruvian food! You’ll be glad you did!

Who would even know about this place? You should! You should probably go there right now. Trust me, you’ll be happy you did. Totally unassuming place that I’ve driven by a 100 times. I recently started working in the area and stumbled in after checking in out on Unilocal and am so glad I did. First the owner and staff are the most friendly helpful people. They helped us understand the menu, let us try some unfamiliar foods and sauces, and made the experience swell. Peruvian foods are so refreshing in a sea of green chili. Take time to ask questions and the staff will answer very helpfully. I ended up sharing with a co-worker two plates that offered almost everything on the menu. It was all delicious. Especially the chicken stuffed potatoes. As an added bonus you can call ahead an hour and get an entire take home meal for less than 20 $ that will feed at least 2 very easily. Rotisserie chicken and sides. I know what’s for dinner for my family next week.

I’m going to assume they were having a rough day when I went. The group of 6 I went with had to wait 30 minutes for all of us to get our meals. They brought one meal out right away and then the other 5 waited 30 minutes for their meals. We also placed an order of the yuca(which was delicious) right when we sat down. However, we didn’t get it until about 10 minutes after we all got our meals. I appreciated the fact that they were apologetic about everything. They ended up giving us the yuca for free. My favorite item was the chicken chimichanga with aji sauce. The aji sauce is the best! You should plan on getting an extra because one isn’t enough. I’ll be back in the future and hope that they are having a better day.

Yes. Yes. YES. A thousand times YES. Pollito Con Papas is exactly what I was hoping for — a small, local, family-run spot with a basic, yet delicious, menu. This place reminds you that sometimes simple is best. The options are just what you would expect — combinations of chicken and potatoes. Recently I tried the Saltado special — it was amazing(think Peruvian stir fry)! Meals are around $ 10 with drinks a couple bucks more. There is always plenty for leftovers. Hungry for chicken? Get here.

Holy Papa Rellena, batman! I’ve never had such a thing, and now I’ve been shown the greatness that is mashed stuffed fried potatoes– what was my life before this?! OmnomnomnOMG. A friendly family isn’t shy to chat with you while you’re waiting for your delicious food, which they should be proud of. The crisp shell that surrounded the fluffy, perfect core of the Papa Rellena was even more beautiful when coated with spicy aji sauce and pickled onions. Within five minutes of KAFB, it’s a perfect weekday lunch stop. Will be back for sure!

Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner– We had lunch here today after having it book marked on my Unilocal for weeks and we wasn’t disappointed. Both my husband and I ordered the Chicken stuffed potatoes and a side of rice and it was all yummy. I agree with the other reviews the green sauce it comes with is so good this is comfort food at its best. I can’t wait to try some of the other options on the menu– we will be back!
