I love the soft tacos al pastor. Sometimes I have to ask for a lime wedge or salsa. The albondingas soup is deeply satisfying on a cold day. My son always get the camerones rancheros.

While the food was fair at best, the staff were totally ignorant about using certificates. We went in to try this place we had never known about. Every thing we tried to order that said no, not with the certificate. Mind you, this was not a coupon but a paid for gift certificate. We will never go back as they are the most uncooperative eatery we’ve ever been to.

Great food, quaint atmosphere. We felt very welcome when we walked in. We loved the enchilada plate, combination burrito, and homemade guacamole. Everything was made to order. Reasonable prices.

Would of given this a five star rating if not due to the wait time to get our lunch. But the waitress was working her butt off. Defiantly need to get help at lunch. The burritos and chicken enchiladas were very good and nicely prepared. Green chile was a nice plus as well. Price, very reasonable. Also surprised to see how clean it was inside. Weill be going back.

I found Ruebens to be difficult and snooty, which is surprising for such a small place. I didn’t even taste the food, but walked out after being told I would be charged $ 1 for each box needed to take my food after dining in. I have used gift cards all over the city because they are a good way to get to know the small Mom and Pop shops. The tasty ones get my business without the card, and one would think they would be grateful for the chance. Reuben’s was not. I took a gift card for $ 10, meaning I had to purchase $ 20 worth of food. At other places, like J. R’s, they we’re happy to provide to go boxes, even just wrapping some food to go after my dine in meal. I understand the dine in vs. carryout stipulation, but even if I dine in without using the gift card I end up taking one box, and I love being able to use the card to sample a variety of items on the menu for a great price so I know what I like when I patronize a restaurant that has earned my business without use of the gift card. The waitress even told me that $ 20 worth of food was too much because I was alone. Seriously? I didn’t see any stipulation in the rules stating a minimum number of people. The truth was that after dining in I could have taken all the remaining food in 1 box. But why would I bother when they are so difficult? I also found the menus to be absolutely filthy, proving that the article I read on menus being the dirtiest items in our lives to be true. I chose Reuben’s because of the four stars on the website. I didn’t even know they existed otherwise, even though I shop the butcher shop behind them. They are certainly not the only Mexican Restaurant on the Restaurant. cim list, but I did have high hopes for them. Too bad they we’re so uptight. They certainly won’t gain a popular patronage this way! And if they have an issue with the use of the cards, they should stop being affiliated with them.

The people at Reuben’s Grill are very nice, and the food comes out of the kitchen as fresh as you could want. Eventually – slow as Christmas. The refried beans were just really tasty – so many restaurants are too casual with their beans. The price, excellent. Now the downside. It’s hot as heck in there in the summer, and while clean, the place NEEDS pain, ceiling work, and an air conditioner. The place is small, usually fairly full, and a wonderful little dive when you just need a nicely seasoned, humble plate of good food.

Great Mexican Food! We were looking for a little«hole in the wall» that could become our go to place for Mexican food and we found it! The chips and salsa are homemade; Spanish rice is tasty and dry NOT watery pilaf like we find at most restaurants; tilapia was well seasoned, and the combination plate is highly recommended(a bit of everything). My kids also enjoyed the breakfast burritos and Rubin’s burritos very much. I didn’t give it 5 stars only because the service could use a little improvement.

Que Bueno this is a jewel. The flan is great. We had the fajitas plate and chili relleno. Very nice place for true new mexico flavor.

I’m giving them 5 stars, because my coworker and I agree they make the best guacamole we’ve ever had. Also, the chicken quesadillas are really delicious, and every so often I get a craving! I usually take the food to go though…

I’ve lived in New Mexico my whole life, and this is one of the better places I’ve been. The food is flavorful, and has a nice bit of spice to it but doesn’t overwhelm. Prices are reasonable, portions are big, service is friendly. From the outside it looks a little sketchy and the inside isn’t super-lavish, but if you’re looking for good Mexican then it’s hard to beat.

This is as autentico as it gets. The atmosphere is low-key with telenovelas playing on the small TV in the corner. The food is great — legit authentic Mexican — and the prices are very affordable. Dinner is doable for under $ 10/person and they have huevos rancheros for breakfast for $ 3.50. Must try if you are anywhere near Menaul/Candelaria!

Sketchy exterior, this place is devoid of pretentiousness and feels like it should have been in an episode of Breaking Bad. The menu is surprisingly elaborate with Mexican and a few New Mexican plates. If they are not too busy, you can customize and create your own dishes. The staff is cheerful. Sometimes the wait is long. Tacos and burritos are a good bet. Chicarron, asada, mariscos, and al pastor are tasty. The shredded beef, chicken, carnitas are pretty standard, just ok. The huevos rancheros is good but substitute one side for the papas fritas. Freshly made tortilla chips and basic quesadilla are great for the non-spicy crowd. It’s a great local cheap Mexican eatery with nice people. But you might want to stay away from the seafood.

I fall in love with restaurants like this. Its like a little hole in the wall, where you can get the BEST traditional style Mexican food. The lady who mans the register, is so sweet. Despite that they did not speak very good English, I still felt welcome in this little slice of heaven. The cook takes his time with the orders, which can be both good and bad depending on the person. If a lunch group took a chance on this place there could be a problem with getting back to work on time. I don’t like to wait, but after finishing, I definitely was not disappointed. The burritos are massive. The burgers are mouthwatering and if you want something deliciously messy to eat, try the Green Chile Cheese fries. They are doused in a sauce that is to die for!!!

Took a chance on this place. The façade isn’t very beckoning and I knew it would be really good or really bad. To my surprise it was really good. The chips were fresh and piping hot. The al pastor burrito smothered in green sauce was absolutely satisfying. If I’m ever randomly in this area again, I know where to go.

The food is awful here. Just awful. Ruben’s belongs on Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. They seem to take no pride in the food there, as everything they serve was clearly old, dried out, and not fresh, and seem to have no respect for their customers, since they serve terrible food and overcharge for it. I could feel my heart drop and fill with a sense of dread as soon as they brought out some thick, greasy, dark brown«tortilla chips» and their weak, jarred salsa. These chips were fried to an incredible hardness in oil that must not have been changed for days and days. Normally, this would have been my cue to get the hell out of there, but we had a gift certificate. Next up was their pathetic attempt at Coctel de Cameron. The shrimp were tiny, briny, and had clear evidence of freezer burn. The sauce that they came in was very thin and tasted like watered down Clamato. And, beside the dozen or so shrimp, there was almost nothing else to this 10 dollar entrée. No avocado, no celery, no tomato, no cilantro, no lime, only a small amount of shredded cabbage and chopped onion. Terrible waste of money. Then, there were Huevos de Colorado, which I ordered red and over-easy as always. They overcooked the egg, not a big deal, but it also tasted old, like an egg that has been kept too long. The red sauce they used was actually thick and orange, and seemed to be some kind of gravy to which red chile had been added. Pretty nasty. On the side were crusty beans and a tortilla that splintered apart when bent. Finally, I got a carnitas and refried beans burrito. This was probably the best item I had, but it was still disappointing. It was TINY. And, the only part of it that was not dried out was the huge chucks of fats I bit into occasionally. It tasted fine, but damn, what a horrible way to present food. You may have noticed that I ordered three entrees. Well, their portions are very small. In fact, I didn’t even have leftovers. This makes their already high prices even worse of a deal. We spent $ 45. On lunch. With no leftovers. What the hell. Fortunately, we didn’t spend any of our own money here, and we never will. Don’t eat here!
