Best pad Thai in town, great friendly staff. Good prices and a great lunch special. Been attending regularly for 6 years now.

Came last night for dinner. The food and service were very good, though the food wasn’t exceptional. We’ll be back though. I had the yellow curry at a spice level of 2 which was perfect for me. Enough to make my weak nose run a little, but not enough to slow me down too much. Husband had the green curry which wasn’t as good as mine. He wished he would have done spice level 3.

I ordered the Drunken Noodles with chicken(basically kee mow) Thai hot much much emphasis repeated 3 times. It had hardly any detectable heat(compared to e.g. Thai Tip, my favorite ABQ restaurant) — disappointing for me. Also, the noodles were very overcooked and all in tiny fragments. Flavor was good despite utter lack of heat. I might give this place another try sometime — maybe just an off night considering the other reviews.

The food is good here, but the service is TERRIBLE. I’ve walked out of this place before and gone right up the road to Fan Tang at least twice. I actually prefer their Pad Thai to Salathai’s. I understand the whole«hole-in-the-wall» thing when it comes to restaurants, but this doesn’t have the quality of food and service to make up for it. It’s not well kept and the dishes are beat up, and it can take 20 minutes after you sit down to even get water, and more than 30 minutes to get food after you order. This place needs more than one waiter to handle the amount of customers, because it’s ridiculous. It’s really too bad, because the food is actually good. But my boyfriend and I found a new Thai place near Menaul and Wyoming called Bangkok Bite that is so amazing! The food is great and the service is great, and the owners are Thai, so you know that it’s authentic! I suggest going to Fan Tang if you’re in the Nob Hill area and Bangkok Bite if you’re near the Uptown area.

I am a regular at Salathai and the food is just some of the best around. I have tried most of the thai places in town and Salathai is some of the best thai food I have ever had. Their padthai is just so flippen tasty! Some of the best dishes to try are the green curry(don’t be deterred by the spice because you can pick the level of heat you want), padthai, and Salathai fried rice(the fried rice is on point!).The service has never been bad here and the owner is always very friendly as well as the staff. They have very affordable prices especially when you come for lunch. I will usually call my order in and place it to go. Even when I stop in and order food to go the food never takes more than 15 minutes. They prefer you pay with cash and will not allow you to use a card unless you are spending more than $ 10. I spoke to the owner about this and he expressed that it costs an outrageous amount for the credit card machines. I can understand why a local business has this policy. Honestly the food is just so delicious why wouldn’t you spend at least $ 10?

I love Thai food! I came for lunch and I was overall pleased. Some downfalls: My soda came with ice but it was still hot which leads me to believe they use canned soda and don’t use a refrigerator. I was not allowed to change my spring roll for a fresh roll(I’m not a fan of fried spring rolls). The business opens at 11 but made me wait outside until 11:10(I have a short lunch break). Finally they made me feel guilty for using a credit card because my bill was under $ 10(I never carry cash anymore). Some good points: The restaurant itself was very quaint. It was very affordable at just $ 6.99 for my meal. It was not too busy so I was able to relax. The most important point: The Pad Thai was cooked to absolute perfection! That alone is the redeeming quality for myself.

i love the amount of egg they put in their dishes. not that it’s a ton or anything, i just generally feel that it’s a little underplayed, and it soaks up the flavor so well to compliment the noodles. portions are sensible, which is good, but not huge. not a complaint, just a comment. :) good thai food. there’s no WHOAHOLYCHOWDER element about it, which gets it a 4 vs. a 5, but I will keep comin’ back

This place is awesome! The staff is incredibly nice, they are very welcoming and polite, and the food has consistently been the best quality(I have high standards). It’s not a super glamorous place, but if you prioritize food quality I recommend coming here! Sometimes on a busy night(Friday’s/Saturday’s) you end up waiting a bit for your food because they have a small staff. But they do their best no matter the circumstance, always keep their cool, and won’t ever compromise food quality just to get your plates to you quicker. Worth any(rare) wait. You also get a little discount if you pay with cash!

The panang curry chicken is 5 stars! The spring rolls were a tad burnt and the chicken satay was bland. Ordering to-go from the front was breezy and the staff were warm but not very chatty. I appreciated how focused they appeared on the primary functions of the job: taking accurate orders, communicating time to get an order, and ensuring orders are completed. About that curry: I specified medium hot, which in my estimation had the best balance of chile spice and creamy finish. I would have had a double order of this if I’d have known how delicious it would be in advance. It wasn’t a bad wait of about 20 minutes after ordering to get a perfectly boxed order out the door. Next time: more curry, skip the satay and spring rolls.

Padthai all the way! Food is awesome, my fav is the pad Thai! But everything I’ve tried there is tasty! They take a bit too long to make the food, and the food is on the smaller portion side! The scenery is not the best, it’s like an old house that has been turned into a restaurant!

I’m declaring this the best tasting Thai food in town. Lunch specials are $ 6.99 and include a soup, spring roll, your entrée and a tapioca-coconut milk dessert — all amazing. Been here 3 times and I highly recommend.

Was traveling across the US(Summer 2013) with my fiancée; had the most delicious meal of our journey. Both our dishes were amazing. Visited it again before we left the city — was excellent again. We had the lunch special which included two small spring rolls, small cup of their soup-of-the-day, the main dish(chosen from about 20 on offer), and an awesome tapioca & coconut milk desert. All for the amazing price of $ 7 per person. MUSTGOTHERE!!!

Run over here! Haha, this place is amazing. It’s a small place and very unique. We ordered the soup which is big enough for 3 – 4 people. Then came the food– pad sew eei if I’m correct was the boom — def a must! Anything we ordered was fantastic and the stuff is very helpful and polite. Very recommended!

Salathai is a great hole in the wall hidden gem. Where to start? Food is absolutely amazing and authentic. Fresh ingredients are used everyday to make excellent fried rice, noodle, veggie and curry dishes. I am a huge fan of drunken noodles as well as all the curry dishes. You cannot go wrong here. The owner is very friendly and helpful and he really knows what he is doing– and is present in the restaurant every day– he really cares about food quality. Wait staff is great and friendly. Keep in mind that this is not fast food– depending on how busy it is, you may have to wait 30+ minutes. The wait is totally worth it though. I like to order the golden vegetables or spring rolled to hold me over. If you decide to go to salathai, go for lunch. It is only $ 7 per person and you get soup, a spring roll, main entrée, and tapioca to finish it off. Probably one of the best deals in town! I can say with confidence that this place will keep me returning for meals to come.

Yummy, cheap, friendly Thai food. Clean your fish tank. But seriously, this place is good.

I went to Salathai for the first time maybe three years ago. I remember ordering a chef special, feeling disappointed in the flavor, and crossing Salathai off my list of places to try. I returned about a week ago, and I’m definitely coming back! Their lunch special is great– unlike my ultimate love Thai Cuisine II, where I always leave with a to-go box, the portions are more reasonable. There was just enough food for me to have a filling lunch– one egg roll, a cup of Tom Kha soup, Pad Kee Mao(Thai Hot), and coconut tapioca. $ 7.50 even with tax. I am a lunch special junkie, so I doubt I’ll ever go for dinner service. I’m holding off on the fifth star because it was great, not excellent. The soup was tepid in temperature(fine in flavor), and the heat in my Pad Kee Mao came from an abundance of dried chiles. This made the dish a little gritty; I much prefer fresh chiles to give a real punch in the mouth. Next time I go, I’ll definitely request they lay off the pepper flakes.
