Why one anybody in NM go to this chain for ‘Mexican’ food? There are so many other, better, choices. Even for Mexican fast food.

The beefy 5-layer burrito I polished off in fewer than two minutes left me feeling depressed and wishing that I had just gone into the Whole Foods across the street and purchased a salad from the deli instead, as I am pretty sure I have now secured my place among the future diabetics of America. But I wasn’t the least bit surprised, nor should I have been. What shocked me, however, was the music. I wasn’t sure which one of the employees had been given the task of choosing the tunes, but I have no doubt that their understanding of the English language is limited to basic customer service etiquette. No one should have to listen to the lyrics of Hall & Oates songs under normal circumstances, but having to listen to that shit while stuffing your pie hole with a 99-cent meal was pretty excruciating. I’d thought about asking the cashier behind the counter if they could do something about the music, but then I realized that I was finished eating so I let it go. Once outside, I realized that my recent dining experience was as good as it will ever get there.

First, the good. This Taco Bell is pretty consistent. The food is usually very good(as far as Taco Bell food goes), and it is thrown together pretty quickly. I’m always amazed just how fast they can pop out a pizza and breadsticks, even faster than the usual«Mexican» fare they offer. Probably the best thing about this Taco Bell is the thing that sets it apart from others in the city. Every single Taco Bell I’ve been to in Albuquerque has managed to screw up almost every single order I’ve ever placed. This location has only made a mistake on my order once, and it was a simple oversight — they forgot to bag one of my extra items, but there was no problem getting it when going back in immediately afterwards. The bad? Like all Taco Bell restaurants, there’s far too much«lettuce» in nearly everything — I’m convinced it’s little more than shredded newspaper like I used to put in my hamster cage as a kid. So, go for it. This Taco Bell is better than the others in the city. They don’t routinely screw up orders, and they’re very efficient. As far as Taco Bell goes, it’s a good location.
