I’m vegan… 99.99% of the time. The 0.01% of time I’m not vegan is when I come here for the currywurst and fries. The food is exactly as I remembered it when I lived in Bonn, Germany. Soooooooo good!

Local beer, German food, and a kick-ass environment! If you’re smart you’ll check this place out! Make sure to order the strudel after(or before) you eat. UNREAL!!!

Amazing. My wife and I live in the area and walk by here all the time. We finally popped in to try the food. LOVED this place. Only spot in town I’ve found to get really good Deutsche food and the atmosphere rocks. Seems like the perfect place to come grab a beer and some killer food without the hassle and crowd of the better known breweries in the area.

Great place. They are very friendly especially with our young boys. The food is quite good, especially the curry wurst and spaezle. Small but nice beer selection.

4.5 Been coming here for a few months now to hang out with friends and have some German grub. Normally I split a meal with my SO but when I come to the grain station I have to get the soft pretzels and something, not because the portions are small but because I dig the food so much. I’m sure the pretzels are from Costco but I love them none the less and while they’re not as amazing as Auntie Anne’s Pretzels they still get me the mustard/salt that I’m craving. I’ve had a few of the dinner options and everything is great. The staff is for the most part friendly but they’re not as attentive as they could be. We typically have a larger party when we go here and I get that sometimes large parties can be a lot of work but if you ask if I need anything and I say yes you shouldn’t wait 30 minutes to bring it. One other thing I don’t get is the«street» vibe they’re trying to pull off, they have spray paint can nozzles in one or two tables and a few other tables are«tagged», they even had a Wu-Tang Wednesday… I’m not sure what that has to do with Germany. Regardless I’ll be back and I’ll devour anything put in front of me and if you’re looking for traditional German food give this place a shot.

First time, the place was empty. I wanted to sit at a booth and I was told only larger groups can sit at the booths… –1pt Disappointed my skinny ass was going to be subjected to the hard wood chairs, I sauntered up to the bar and had a seat. Asked for a dunkel from the tap and no go… Only dark beer was Monks Dark Ale and some kinda stout(I’ve yet to find a NON coffee flavored stout… I hate coffee)…-1pt Ordered the Schnitzel sandwich because it’s made fresh, the Bratz are brought in frozen, the wings are frozen. Asked about the German potato salad, was it old fashioned hot style or not? Not… –1 pt The Schnitzel arrived. Very good! Had it as a sandwich, asked for jaeger gravy on the side and was accommodated. +8pts Overall, enjoyed and will be back!

I love the original wood floors, the ceiling, and the 80s décor. It’s a great place to sit down with friends to visit, have a few drinks, and get a bite to eat. I recommend this place.

This place is solid. Owners were very nice and welcoming. German food was spot on and great draft selection. Happy hour had $ 3 dollar drafts for most beers and $ 5 for legit German beer.

Went there because of Unilocal reviews and very happy. Was spending a night before flying out to Houston. Very freundly family owned and very authentic food. Made me nostalgic for Berlin again. Wish we had them in Houston

German food so good it’ll make you smack your mama. I had the curry wurst and potato salad and I was very upset that It took me this long to find this place. Delicious all around. Must try for all. This place should be busier. Service was friendly and very speedy. Beer selection is a bit light, but they have some good euro beers.

A fantastic addition to the UNM area! Owners Ken and Cindy are super nice and attentive to guests coming into the restaurant. They offer a great food menu at reasonable prices and the beer menu consists of draft and bottles. We are looking forward to lunch hours and more wine and dessert choices. Stop in and support this establishment you won’t be disappointed!

Interesting new bar that’s building out their options for wine — as there are plenty of options for beer drinkers! I enjoyed my chardonnay, though. Just coming from lunch, I wasn’t hungry, but a friend ordered their cheeseburger and appeared to enjoy it.

I don’t really see myself as a bar person, well, at least not lately. I tend to slump away from most of the closest watering holes just to preserve my sanity. This isn’t because I don’t love food, because my rolls will tell you otherwise, and it’s certainly not that I don’t enjoy a good drink, because my fellow Unilocalers will tell you I drink like a fish when I am out. The truth is, this old lady can not handle the hustle, the bustle, the beard, and the plaid that is our local brew pups. However, The Grain Station is something I can get behind and support five million bazillion percent. I was a little surprised that this place was not packed on a friday. It is directly across the street from UNM, carries solid choices in beer, and has food. It stresses me out because I’m worried not enough people know about this place, but at the same time, it’s the perfect spot for an old lady like me. I can’t speak for all of the food the Grain Station, but I can speak for the Philly cheesesteak, the french fries, and the german potato salad. I’ve never actually had a Philly cheesesteak from Philly, but I have had some BAD Philly cheesesteaks from other places. This was not one of them. This sandwich was beautiful, it had melty cheese, onions, peppers, and a sweet sauce on top that made my brain explode. The tastes and textures together were just absolutely perfect. In fact, thinking about it is making me salivate. The french fries were the perfect texture and taste, which you would think would be the easiest thing in the world to perfect, but you would be wrong. The german potato salad was ridiculous. It is lighter than an «american» potato salad, but the textures and tastes were balanced perfectly. I could probably eat a tub of it if someone would let me. The service is WONDERFUL. Seriously. Our server took our order, gave us a timeframe of how long it would take to bring out our dishes, and made sure that we loved everything we were served. I can only hope that I make it back sooner rather than later, and I can also only hope that I have room to try their dessert!

What? No Mexican food? That’s right! Try expanding your horizons and taste buds for a change. Get your German on right here in the Q at The Grain Station. A perfect day starting out at Espresso Fino with a couple of cortados and recommendations from the owner, Pablo and Lydia to go try the Grain Station. They had dropped in there twice and liked it and I value their recommendations highly due to the product they put out, so… being Wednesday and knowing that the new restaurant had specials on Wed, my motivation was kicked up a notch and I decided to venture over. After a false start, entering the wrong establishment and being advised that they didn’t open until 3:00, I finally made it around 4:00. I had my heart set on trying the bratwurst & beer for $ 5.99, but when I saw they had Jäger Schnitzel, I had to go for it. And on top of that, a real brotchen served with it. Service was exceptional from both the husband & wife team. Cynthia offered real German potato salad in place of the pommes(fries). I jumped at the offer. Both were so warm and welcoming and come to find out, we had something in commom – we were all Military brats. We all lived in Germany, but at different times. They were so excited about their business and the new things to come, definitely makes for a happy atmosphere. On to the food… the Jäger Schnitzel came with German potato salad and brotchen, as mentioned. The brotchen or hard roll was the best I’ve tasted since leaving Germany – hard/crusty on the outside and soft on the inside.(Consider serving butter with it). The schnitzel seemed to be a double portion – 2 large breaded pork cutlets in a rich, brown mushroom gravy. Even though I thought I may not finish such a huge portion, I shoveled in every last bite. Good… no…Fantastic! Breading was not too thick or thin, browned perfectly and it stayed on the cutlet. Gravy with the mushrooms was so tasty along side the potato salad. It was definitely German potato salad – it had a tart bite to it that was refreshing and light. Excited my taste buds. Nothing like American potato salad. Shared conversation with a fellow diner who got the beer bratwurst – he said it was outstanding and no where can you get such a great sandwich & beer for $ 5.99. The owner stated that he planned to expanded the hours to 11am to 11pm and offer German items for sale – maybe beer steins? I was significantly impressed with the owners, the food, the atmosphere & ambience. I love supporting local people and this young couple seem to have it going on with all their offerings and graciousness. And with this location, they absolutely have a winner.

Such a dope bar(and restaurant)! The Grain Station has two themes: Germany and old-school hip hop. I asked the owner about it and he said, ‘Yep, that pretty much describes me.” It’s cool and rare to have a bar that represents somebody’s unique vision and character. He plays old rap videos from a youtube playlist that will either take you back or introduce to you to classics that you missed. He even let my friend and I take over the remote control and play videos that we drunkenly wanted to see, and everybody sitting at the bar got involved. It was an awesome night. I happen to be a huge fan of German beer, so of course I LOVE the beer selection, which has local beers on tap and Germans from the bottle. Reinheitsgebot ’till I die! As for the food, I only had a brat but it was pretty darn good. Pro tip: great food and beer deals on Wednesdays.

I’m not sure how they got a beer license across the street from UNM but it’s a great place to go and do exactly what they intended to stop students from doing. They had about 10 local beers on tap. The décor was so quirky that I need to go back. The owner’s 1989 tape collection is on the bar top. It’s like the same Colombia Records tape of the month deal I used to get. You got your Aerosmith, Enya, and LL Cool J bringing you back. The TV above runs the same eclectic old videos of Dee Lite, Eazy E, and Journey. You feel like you’re in a post-legalized log cabin in there. The service is idiosyncratic.

Quick, friendly, and a dope looking establishment. The bars and some of the tables are hand made and look amazing. Classic cassettes set into the car and a unique collection of beers encased in the tables. Food is priced proper and the craft beer is prices average as well. Cannot complain at all, the philly cheese steak was delicious and prepared exactly how I asked!!!

The best Philly Cheese Steak in Albuquerque. The wife is from Allentown PA and has done her research to bring authentic Philly and German style cooking to the state of burritos and green chili. I have lived right outside of Philadelphia my whole life and have now moved to Albuquerque for school. When I saw this place was serving beer, brats and Philly cheese steaks I was skeptical. I sat down and order their special on Wednesdays, beer and a cheese steak for 6.99. I was delighted to see the sandwich done right. The steak meat was cooked to perfection right on the flattop with the onions and green peppers; which you can smell as soon as they put your order into the kitchen. The sandwich is dripping with juice with the cheese melted, green peppers and onions mixed into the meat with just the right amount of their steak sauce. The bar reminds me of home. The Grain Station is tasteful and has a great sense of identity. You will walk in and be impressed with the décor of old tape decks and boom boxes covered in plexi glass for tables. Besides the great food, the place is a must see just for the design. The husband currently works the bar. The guy knows how to serve and will make you laugh. The Grain station has great service and a terrific atmosphere. I highly recommend anything from the menu, my two favorites are the cheese steak or the brat sandwich with a side of fries. The place is refreshing addition to the Central strip and will be exploding with popularity within the coming weeks. Just need to start serving home made perogies and this place will have everything.

This place has got style. Great music and décor. Small but well-chosen beer selection, brats, burgers, and steaks… What’s not to like? I’m excited about the $ 6 lunch specials, e.g. beer and brat. Location is as close as possible to UNM, literally a couple hundred meters from the psychology, biology, and EPS departments, so you can expect some highly intellectual discourse, particularly on Friday afternoons. It’s brand new right now, so i’ll update my review after i’ve had a chance to work thru the menu.
