Spacious, clean, inviting. Come on in and hit the heavy bag for a while, get it out, get it all out. Better, right? Great mix of patrons. Some are super fit, some are kind of fit, but everyone is pulling for each other and like Julio says, «We all finish this together!» He says a lot of other things — give his boxing class a try and see if he doesn’t motivate you and make you laugh. My advice, and take it from the school of «been there done that», don’t give up if you are still struggling a week or two in. Dial down your level a little, maybe, but don’t give up. It took me a while to get in the groove, but once I did I really started looking forward to it, and now if I take too much time off I long to get back to it. The combos in boxing take a little practice — you’ll get it. Burpees suck even for that guy who is making it look easy. That high kick? The day you realize you’re doing it you’ll feel 10 feet tall and invincible! I’ll see you there, right? We’re all in this together.

Lawd have mercy. I woke up this mornin’ creakin’, cracklin’ and groanin’ my way outta bed and all I could think was how it was all UFC’s fault. My legs hurt, my arms hurt, I found some muscles that I didn’t even know existed and they hurt real bad, too. Wait, let me rephrase that: they hurt real good. It’s a good pain, baby. As much as this gym will punish you, the rewards are worth every ounce of agony. The new facility basically exemplifies the popularity, growth and success of mixed martial arts in Albuquerque. This city is considered by many to be a mecca of the sport; many of UFC’s most storied fighters and trainers came from these parts and most still reside here. On the macro level, Burqueños have come to love the game, too. Reece and Noelle Killebrew run an incredibly efficient, friendly, professional and downright fun business, and now they’ve opened this facility, a sort of Fit Cathedral. Offering an enormous array of exercise machines, weight training, a huge grapple/boxing cage, and a full line-up of heavy bags for kickboxing classes(my thang), this place just don’t stop. Locker rooms and showers, whoa, what a concept. The staff is friendly, the personal trainers are cool and not too personal, I loved the fans on the ceiling, I could feel a consistent breeze during my workout. I will state that, as the sweatiest bastard on the planet, I wasn’t thrilled about the solid flooring, but honestly I suppose carpeting makes absolutely no sense for a gym. I just like to make it rain and I don’t like cleaning up after myself. Wait, that sounded really wrong. Sorry.

Come here only if you want to die by killer workouts. These guys are mean. Brutal. And utterly relentless. Their warm-up is my workout. Prepare to have your legs quiver in fear, and scream to your body«no more reps». Prepare to have your shoulders beg for mercy and your core surrender from pain. Yes, if you are like me, my friend and enjoy the tortures of a hard workout then you will love this place.
