This is a fine neighborhood park. There is a scarcity of trees, but the wide open grassy field is huge and inviting. Any time of year you can find some kids kicking a ball, folks walking their dogs, kids enjoying the heck out of the awesome playground. Unfortunately at the present time(Nov/Dec 2014) we also have some deliquents trying to burn the place down. The two play areas are filled with wood chips, which someone has been setting fire to regularly. Yesterday I noticed that some ingenious young engineers had managed to get a shopping cart atop one of the table structures. A little ways from there is the remains of what used to be magnificant full growth lavender bushes, now nothing more than charred remains. The black sharpie graffiti runs toward genitalia and swastikas. I hope you get a chance to enjoy the park, as I do, and if while you are there you see someone with a sharpie in one hand and a lighter in the other, call the cops, will you? Because I’d hate to see this wonderful public space vandalized any further. Thank goodness it isn’t high fire season, huh?
