A stunning and picturesque County Park on the location of the old Lock Ridge Furnace that was operated as an Iron Mill from 1868 to 1921. This was supposedly one of the last anthracite iron furnaces to operate in the United States. Be sure to bring your camera, because the grounds here are stunning and full photo opportunities at the park and throughout the ruins of the old furnace. The grounds also hold a museum that is open from 1pm to 4pm Saturday and Sunday from May to September. Self guided tours are also available, but I couldn’t see any information on how to take a self guided tour on the property. If you’re in the area, this is an amazing find. You can have your wedding on these grounds or in our case, have a great back drop for some engagement photos. Otherwise, it’s a wonderful place to take your pets, have a walk, take some pictures(even with your horse, which we witnessed) and enjoy the scenery and fresh air.
