I would drive 100 miles to eat from this place. The food is AMAZING and has only disappointed me one time when the mac and cheese was over-salted. You get a lot of food for a great price and I’d eat it every day if I could.

Great soul food. ‘Banana’ pudding needs actual bananas. Owners/management are very friendly. One of the best soul food places I’ve been too. Just know what to expect… soul food. :-). Lots of butter… lots of grease. This is not a health-food restaurant. :-))

Driving from a quarter mile away, you can already smell that smokey, mouth watering and delicious BBQ smell in the air even when your windows are down. All you can eat homemade meals? This is my first BBQ place I went to since I’ve been in the south; I’m from California. All I can say is I have a lot to look out for. Thanks Bread of Heaven for setting the right foot for me! I heard they’re only opened for lunch. You should get there early or it’ll fill up fast with workers rushing to get some good food down their stomachs. For only $ 10, you can eat as much as your stomach desires plus a drink and free refills. Now, don’t expect this restaurant to be fancy or anything with nice furnishing. It’s almost like going to one of those family parties where you grab a Styrofoam plate, grab as much food from the table and hot, ready-made BBQ chicken from Uncle Bernie, find a seat and table(plastic chairs and long portable tables), chat and eat with your friends and family. Bring cash! You’ll get in quicker!

Its been awhile since I have been home, but I will not forget this place. HOMECOOKING at its BEST. I cant say enough about this place, they offer a buffet of smoked pork, wings, bbq chicken, greens, sweet potatoes and corn bread dressing so much I cant name it all. I can not say enough about the food. The wait staff has that southern friendliness about them and the music is way cool(classic R&B). The place is clean and neat If you ever get to East Tennessee seek this place out you will not be disappointed. BUT please don’t believe me go see for yourself you will not regret it.

Last time I was in town for a visit, I made my first trip to Bread of Heaven. Of course, I had the buffet. I don’t know if there is any other choice. The buffet was amazing! Huge selection of good old fashion southern cuisine. The pork chops were amazing! The folks that own the place are super nice and keep you happy! They are certainly becoming a staple in the community. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for the best of soul/country food!

When I lived in Maryville, I planned my mid-day errands around the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet at Bread of Heaven. Not only did I love the food, I loved the warm people who worked there, the afrocentric artwork on the walls, and the non-stop hit parade of old-school r&b pouring over the radio. At the time, the buffet had three kinds of chicken– fried wings(always perfectly crispy), wet bbq(tasty and melting off the bone), and rotisserie(a bit too dry). The baked beans were great, and the bbq sauce was solid and well-rounded in its flavor. There were a couple of areas that needed improvement– the yams and veggies tasted canned – but these never overshadowed what was a consistently comfortable, welcoming, and satisfying dining experience. If you live in the Knoxville-Alcoa-Maryville area and haven’t eaten here, you are doing both your stomach and soul a grave disservice.

Great all you can eat BBQ for $ 10 at lunch. Probably the best BBQ in Knoxville. Only open at lunch and on weekdays.
