Wait times when you call in to Delta are painfully slow. I’m a gold medallion status and have opted to let the system call me back and hours later NOCALL back. Until recently my wait times have been less than 2 minutes before a customer service person picks up the phone. I’m a million miler on this airline but I’m a very unhappy customer !!!

I am a loyal Delta customer, because I feel they have the best loyalty program in the business and they fly everywhere. When flights are delayed or problems arise, they are very good about finding an acceptable alternative. I just feel they are the most consistent airline as far as service and reliability. My only complaint is that this service generally comes at a high cost. I wish Delta would be as consistent on their pricing, as their prices fluctuate daily and wildly. When I need to travel, I have to check the prices early and often in order to find an acceptable price. One day a trip might cost $ 800, and the next that same flight might be $ 350. And if I am willing to fly one day earlier or later, or travel to a neighboring airport, I could save 75% of the cost. I hate playing that game, and I really wish Delta would fix this aspect of their business… because they are otherwise the best. I also wanted to share a recent experience. I had been checking prices for both flights and reward points so that I could schedule my wife and daughter for a flight to Manila. I had enough points for 1 of the tickets if I could find a discounted redemption fare. After checking the web for several days, I found a reasonably priced ticket, and a reward redemption within my budget. So I booked the first ticket online, and then went to book the redemption ticket… and to my surprise the web would not allow me to book the redemption award at the advertised price. Another search for the flight showed the discounted price, but when I tried to select the flight the award miles doubled. I contacted customer service and was originally told that the discount was incorrectly displaying and the fare was now higher. I objected to this and asked to speak to a supervisor. After sitting on hold for about 30 minutes, I finally spoke with someone who agreed to honor the discounted fare and booked my reward flight. Delta didn’t have to honor that price, but I truly appreciate that they did and felt compelled to Unilocal out some positive feedback towards them. I would certainly love to see Delta fix some of the pricing anomalies they have, but otherwise I truly enjoy doing business with them.

It’s very difficult for me to give an airline 5 stars. Maybe Spirit or Southwest when you could get round trip tickets under $ 100 on the regular. Even so, I am a loyal Delta flyer. I like this airline a lot. It’s consistent, always comfy, people are nice, I’ve never been bumped, and they take care of SkyMikes members. I’m very easy to please on an airplane though. All I want is a seat and an on time departure. If I could just get them to stop extorting the price. I’m definitely being punished for not living in a larger hub.
