I am very surprised at how these reviews are all over the scale. My husband and I went on a Saturday and we loved it. The food was good, maybe it was our menu choices. The waitress was great, maybe it was our luck. And the view was fantastic, it was definitely Mother Nature. We will be going again. For all the people who did not like it, give it one more try.

If you can’t cook a burger, you shouldn’t be a cook. This place needs to clean shop and take lessons from their Annapolis location.

Really great cocktails! We also ordered the tuna sashimi, oysters and the filet flatbread. Everything was good except the flatbread could use some help; the meat was very dry and it didn’t have much flavor. The location is great though and it is the perfect place to drink outdoors in the warmer weather.

My wife and I were in town for our third anniversary and came here with close friends to celebrate. I had read some of the reviews on Unilocal and was optimistically cautious about coming here but our friends said that several people they know loved it. So we went. I am glad that we did! We started with the Seared Tuna, which was delicious,(the red sauce is spicy!!!) and the avocado something something… which was not memorable but not terrible either. I just don’t think it was in my taste. I ordered the Chesapeake Steamer Boil. It was really good and the helping was plentiful. My wife got the Southwest chicken salad and she liked it as well. Our bill wasn’t crazy expensive which was nice. I do want to call out our wait staff though, they were top notch and very attentive. They did bring out a Loose Cuban when my friend asked for a Loose Cannon, which we got a good chuckle out of, but the staff corrected immediately. I would definitely recommend to a friend.

So… I’ve been to Blackwall Hitch twice now. On my first visit I was totally blown away by the décor, ambiance, space, and view. It feels like… calm. My crew of 5 arrived for brunch. I LOVE brunch and their food selection is amazing. Where else can you get oysters as part of the brunch offerings to include an omelet bar, and every other thing you could imagine. To top things off they have live jazz during brunch hours. My second visit was with a crew of 8. And although I still love the spot, it wasn’t as ‘on-point’ as the first visit. STILL… I can’t wait for Summer to sit outside. You have to come check it out for yourself.

We’ve got a gift card on Christmas from this restaurant and finally decided to give it a try. We went there on a Saturday evening and it was packed(luckily we made a reservation a few days in advance). I wanted a table near the window and was pleasantly surprised that they’ve actually taken my wish into consideration and reserved one of the best spots near a window where you can see the river. There was a band playing life music(a nice touch) and overall it was fun. The food we ordered was good but nothing special for that price– that’s why I’m giving it 4 stars. There is a room for improvement. We will definitely come back.

The place may be ideal but the service, ambience, and food were mediocre. We live in Old Town and I was excited to try the new place on the wharf. We were left waiting for a table until the Sunday brunch ended although being told that we would be seated immediately and could browse the menu until dinner hour arrived. It appeared that they were not staffed appropriately since our waiter was absent for long periods of time serving other diners. While waiting, we were overwhelmed by the noise. The ambience was closer to the food court building that it once was that to a mid-end restaurant. The food was bland — we had the crispy calamari, snobb(their take of a seafood Cobb) salad, and Chesapeake boil. I would also like to note that the boil was cold. We joked that it might have come off of the recently closed buffet tables. All in all, we will not return.

Showed up here for a going away happy hour… the view is undeniably outstanding and the service was pretty great too! It was a perfect choice for a mild and clear day on the river. It’s the perfect location to unwind. Our server was attentive and very flexible as our group of 4 grew to 6 and then 8. He was on top of the drink orders and didn’t rush us as it took ups some time to get our acts together as they closed the outdoor seating area. Beers were flowing and relatively reasonably priced. The food was typical bar stuff and nothing to write home about but not bad either. I’d definitely come back to this place for a few rounds after a long day at work.

This place is in the absolute ideal location. Gorgeous layout, cool dining areas, and the crow’s nest upstairs is a neat little area. The drinks were okay for the price, we didn’t get a chance to try the food. I ordered the Moscow Mule off of the menu, although it oddly wasn’t served in it’s signature copper mug(that were lined up behind the bar). I’m never a stickler about silly details like that, but it did strike me as a little weird. We also were excited to see one of the lounge couches open up(no table, just a couch in the bar), but were immediately stopped by a server who told us we would have had to make a reservation. That was a bit strange, as I’ve never been to a bar where a bar seat would have had to been reserved like a dining room table. All in all, I’d probably go back during a less busy time. It’s a gorgeous restaurant and I really hope it succeeds. There aren’t many waterfront restaurants to choose from.

Too bad it seems to be cool to leave negative reviews these days. I really liked this place. We sat in the bar area(they were full for hours in the restaurant — make reservations well ahead if you want the dining rooms) and were helped by at least four people, continuously. Great beer selection(Troëgs!) and the food was really good. I had a flatbread with caramelized onions and filet mignon — it was great. My dining companion had an awesome burger. I’ll definitely be back. Update: went back again last night. Same thing — great food and service and football games and live music(!). Increased my star rating to attempt to offset some of the negativity, even though it doesn’t seem to be hurting — it was bustling again. I really like this place.

Hmmm, Im very surprised at the low rating on Unilocal. Anyway, this is very beautifully done restaraunt. I spotted Blackwall a few months ago, but didnt have a chance to go in. Me and the hubby stopped in while in the area for lunch. At first they were going to tell us we had to eat in the bar area due to a large reservation. But some folks started to leave and they cleared a table for us. Not that I wouldn’t eat in the bar area. Our server approached within a reasonable amount of time… especially for it being an apparently busy lunch rush for them. Just putting it all out there… Im allergic to shellfish, and my hubby doesn’t eat it to much. We both ordered salads. I had the southwest blackened chicken salad. He ordered a starter salad and added chicken. I asked for lemon for my water, never got it. We both asked for ranch for our dressings… neither one came out with the ranch. We had to to remind her about that. No complaints about flavor. my salad was actually was awesome. 2 salads totaled about — $ 30.00(we both drank water) Nice clean bathroom.

The service has gotten much better– but the bartender outside needs to make sure those glasses are clean. They aren’t consistent with the back patio, either make people sign in for the tables, or don’t. I will have put my name down for a table out back and have seen people ask a server if they can sit down at an open table and be told yes. A great addition to Old Town.

We came here for Sunday brunch, I liked the space and the live acoustic music. There were several stations of food consisting of omelets, breakfast fare, carving station, pastries and raw bar. Omelets and bacon were the best choices; the shrimp was way overcooked and the pastries left a lot to be desired. As a plus coffee was included. Mimosas were $ 1 and bloody mary’s were $ 2.50…I didn’t love either option. I was really hoping to like this place for brunch, but I just couldn’t. I might go back for a drink on the patio when the tent is gone(and the firepits come back) since it has a lovely view of the Potomac.

This trendy new seafood restaurant is a good upscale alternative to its neighbor The Charthouse. My husband and I decided to come here based on the recommendation of his hairstylist who works around the corner. Upon entering, I was impressed with the overall décor, the friendliness of the host, and the delicious smell. We were quickly seated and waited on. The water is served in blue glass mason jars. They have some interesting cocktails, being a fan of dirty martinis I tried the Dirty Hitch martini(it has Tabasco, and blue cheese olives) and unfortunately didn’t care for it too much. My husband had a cucumber martini and loved it. I ordered the trout entrée, the Chesapeake oysters, and the Maryland crab soup. I was impressed with all of the food I had. The trout was flavorful and I LOVED the couscous side dish. The soup was also very tasty without being too fishy. The oysters were delicious and I didn’t have too much shell in them. My husband ordered the lobster roll, and absolutely hated his dish. I will agree it didn’t taste like a typical Lobster roll and had what tasted like nutmeg. The cinnamon/nutmeg taste really detracted from the lobster. It was also very heavy on the mayonnaise. This is the only reason why this restaurant is getting four stars and not five. Otherwise we had a wonderful time, great service, and will be back again to try other dishes!

Went to Blackwall Hitch with a group of coworkers who were all in town for a fundraising conference. After a long day of learning about charitable trusts we were ready for some good food and wine. And we found it here. First of all, the bottles of wine were half off. And the prices were GOOD. Like, several bottles that were priced between $ 25-$ 35 that you could buy at HALFOFF. That alone made us all very happy and we quickly ordered 3(or 4?) bottles. Hey, there were six of us, it’s ok… We ordered several appetizers for the group that included a delicious crab dip with warm homemade bread and a few plates of oysters. A couple people had the soup and I would assume loved it as there wasn’t a drip remaining. I personally ordered scallops for my entrée and they were seasoned and cooked perfectly. We all had an entrée and the bottles of wine and the appetizers and we split the bill evenly and it was about $ 55 each. Honestly, I thought it was a deal for all the food and drink we had. The weather was a little meh otherwise we would have moved to the patio outside and insisted they keep the fire burning for us. I’d definitely come back when in the Alexandria area.

Update: So my second visit wasn’t as amazing as the first. I had the short rib tacos this time, and frankly I thought they were a little underwhelming. The flavored just didn’t integrate like the buffalo shrimp tacos. Also, my bartender didn’t take the time to introduce himself. So I can see why people have had hit or miss experiences here, still, I’ll come back because the Happy Hour options really are good. I’ll have to review why others thought so poorly of this place. I personally had a great time. I went last night for the 2025 Cider Press– which incidentally was itself a bit of a disappointment, but I digress… Anyways, it was slammed at the bar when I was there, around 6:30 in a Thursday. I want to start off By commending JP, he is hands down an awesome bartender. Right when I ordered, he asked my name and introduced himself. That’s huge for me. So few bartenders do this, and when it happens it makes such a difference. This would be a great place to bring a bunch of friends. There are multiple bars, an outdoor deck area, and ample dining areas. Get on down here and look for JP!

Had the most bland(and overpriced…$ 16) santa fe wrap here. The blackened chicken tasted like it had barely any seasoning and there was very little cheese or sauce inside the wrap. There were so many empty tables(outside and inside) yet they still had a 45 minute wait… so we sat at the bar. The décor was great, however, and I’m sure it would be fun if there were live music. My mom really enjoyed her crab cake sandwich. I also overheard the bartenders and waiters arguing and one of the bartenders cursed and was complaining about his job… not very professional and also not what I want to be listening to when enjoying a meal with my mom.

I would like to say I enjoyed the Blackwitch Hall it was a very nice ambiance from just walking up to the establishment. The restaurant is setup like it’s in an beach area but it pretty much sits near the Potomac river you can see the boats and tons of airplanes. The restaurant is huge several seating areas with a full breakfast brunch $ 3 Mimosa’s & $ 6 Bloody Mary’s. Breakfast brunch consisted of oysters, shrimp, clam soup, omelette’s made to order with crab meat and shrimp with other fixings, prime rib, pork lion and various fruits. Let’s talk about service everyone was pleasant and very helpful we were seated in one area of the restaurant which was cool and accommodated somewhere else which was warmer. The band was excellent it was a great dining experience.

I’m hearing this is a new place in Old town right on the water, which is in high demand because currently the only other place right on the water is the tragically overpriced Chart House. This place has exceptional views, an excellent happy hour menu and a lively atmosphere. We showed up around 7 on a Thursday night and found out that happy hour food and drinks are only served at the main bar. Good luck finding a spot! We eventually found a couple seats at one of the tables and ordered drinks. $ 5 rail drinks and select wine/glass. Their hh food menu is even better, a bunch of small plates for $ 6. I opted for the scallops, shrimp tacos and short rib tacos. The scallops were some of the best I had in my entire life; mushroom risotto was cooked to perfection, which is quite a task to do mid-happy hour! The buffalo shrimp tacos were my favorite with the short ribs lacking in flavor a bit. Overall, properly fed by 3 plates for only $ 18. Service was surprisingly quick and attentive for a bustling HH crowd, with lots of staff promptly bussing the tables. I’m so glad we finally have a nice casual restaurant in old town right on the water so we can bypass old, stodgy dinosaurs like Chart House. This is my new old town HH!

I came for drinks and sat in bar with five friends. Service is so slow we warched a couple walkout before their food came. I thought about offering to buy it just so I could eat. It was not crowded On a Thursday night with solo entertainer with louder than needed music but my real complaint is the slow service caused by what sounds like a line at the POS station in the servers stall. I did come the first week of opening and hope they get that worked out as well as the A/C which was not working If the food is good then The menu is going to be a big hit with variety of flatbreads and burgers and higher priced entrees of steaks and seafood. A decent variety of starters and an extensive bar/draft menu make the anticipation of a good experience hopeful. I ordered jumbo wings and a flatbread for the table. The server brought some store bought dinner rolls which I pray are not representative of the meal I ordered. The server was nice and apologetic for the wait but the food I had is only mediocre. Chili’s has better flat bread and everyone had better wings. The table never got bused. The place was only half full. I don’t want to be here when its capacity but as it is a new place in old Towne I will be kind and undoubtedly give them another try and post my experience. Today they only get a solid two stars. Two drinks in two hours. AC not working and mediocre food. Keep the dinner rolls and add staff to the shifts
