Cameron Run Regional Park

Only reviewing the batting cages. Went there on 10÷21÷15 and was extremely disappointed.
Price: Fair and pretty standard.
Location & Parking: Outside waterpark, good. Mid Fall, plenty of parking and right next to cages.
Service: They dont accept credit, but no problem I had cash. Staff seemed nice enough.
Quality: Very bad. They have 9 lanes. 3 softball slow pitch, 2 baseball slow, 2 medium, 2 fast. I was there for softball. One lane completely out of order (coin box completely removed), one lane the machine took my token but didnt work, the 3^rd lane took about 15 minutes of shaking the coin box to get it unstuck and working. The girl working the booth replaced my tokens that didnt work but didnt have a key to unlock the box and remove the stuck coins. My bat fixed the problem.
Next quality issue, all pitches on that machine were inside. I wouldnt care but the cage is small and if you move any bit left (im a righty) you hit the net with your bat. This has happened so much that many of the nets have holes in them. But instead of fixing the issue, they put up rubber mats attached to metal strips which equal max damage to your bat and altered swings.
Lastly, not all gate doors closed so some balls had escaped the main door/​gates to each lane.
I doubt I will ever go back. I offered my suggestions to the staff. Hopefully they relay them the maintenance staff and make adjustments.

Place reeked of BO (body oder). (Pretty bad when it’s OUTSIDE I can still smell it.) ;-p
Kid in wave pool with red splotches all over his body, was still allowed in.
Took my kid and got the hell out of dodge hoping we didn’t already catch something nasty.
Never again.

Ample parking, putt putt, mini water park and batting cages! We played miniature golf for $ 6 a person. They’re open late, which is great!
Only downsides are the staff wasn’t that friendly for being a fun park… And the lighting at night is minimal so it’s hard to see!

Lifeguards need to be trained better. My 14 year old son, who is small for his age, but still 5′ tall was repeatedly told to leave the deep part of the wave pool because they «could tell he wasn’t tall enough». Then, when asked how old he was and he said 14, they laughed at him. They need wristbands or something to show that kids are tall enough to be there so that nobody else wastes their time or money. Not cool.

Pool — 3 stars — A wave pool, toddler pool, small kids pool, and slides provide fun for all ages. The crowd can get a little rough, especially on weekends. At $ 14.50, the prices is a bit high. Tip for Parents: Pirate’s Cove in Lorton offers fun, safe swimming, especially for younger kids, at a cheaper price.
Mini golf — 2.75 stars — The course was recently spruced up (it was a little rundown before) but still lacks inspiration. For the same price, mini-​golfers can enjoy two much more interesting mini-​golf courses at nearby Top Golf. The rubber was torn off many of the putters. Landscaping is nice with several shady areas (good for hot days).
Batting cage — 1.5 stars — Considering the high entrance fee it charges, the park could and should invest more money in its batting cages!!! Two or more cages are typically out of order each time we visit. Machines that do work frequently shot bad throws. Tape on bats is tattered and loose. Staff are helpful, if not overly enthusiastic. Management needs to train staff on proper safety practices: When fixing frequent malfunctions, staff often enter cage area without helmets. Also, I’ve never seen staff enforce the helmet rule for patrons.

Great place, with a lot of thing too do. However the price is a little high $ 15 per person. I would recommend getting a groupon if you attend

Bat, check. Helmet, check. Courage to stand in front of a mechanically swinging arm throwing balls at you, check!
I love their batting cages. Each round gets you 14 balls per token. If you get $ 5 worth of tokens, they throw in an extra 6^th token. Deal!
One of the machines ate one of my tokens. i stood around waiting for the pitches to get goin and nothing happened :(so i switched to a different cage, got a replacement token from the cashier, and was on my merry way :) problem solved!
These cages don’t throw actual softballs or baseballs. Instead the machines use a yellow ball with inverted dimples. Every time I take a crack at these balls it feels like I’m hitting water balloons that won’t pop — it’s a weird sensation off the bat. But this is still a great way to practice your swings.
tip: Make sure to thoroughly stretch your arms before and after

Cool place for group outings, family reunions and birthdays. The pavilion area is great and all the on-​site amenities make for an enjoyable experience.

I went to play putt-​putt and use the batting cages. Putt-​putt is hard to find in the NOVA area, and this place is pretty nice. I’ve been to a few with crazy windmills, loop-​dee-​loops, etc. Not this place. Pretty straightforward, but there is a nice pond and waterfall at the center. It’s definitely worth the price, especially for the scarcity of mini-​golf around here.
The batting cages are fine. A few softball cages, and two each of slow, medium, and fast baseball. Fast is pretty fast. However, the bats are bad. I have a large blood blister as there is almost no tape handle on the bats. So bring your own or take some gloves.
I did not use the pool, however — I was shocked when I saw it. It is as large and nice as an amusement park water park. I was blown away. The wave pool area was the size of a football field. Tons of cool slides and what not. And it looked clean (it’s right next to mini-​golf). Half of this reviews stars is based on that. Just incredible and a really nice place in general to come in the area.

My son and I took advantage of their 6 tokens for $ 5 at the batting cages. Two of the cages were way off pitch — one high, one low, and one threw out only 3 of the 14 balls. Seemed like the attendents weren’t concerned with calibrating the machines or refilling the balls. Also, the tape on the bats was in very poor condition. I would go more often if they managed this better.

Great fun for the kids, the waves were awesome!

Had an awesome time jumping the waves and riding the slides with my little guy! I took him to Great Waves to cool off from the heat wave we had not too long ago. It was extremely crowded the second day that we went but I knew it would be with how hot it was.
Some of the life guards were extremely nice and others were a bit rude, but I know they were looking out for the safety of everyone.
My one complaint is about food. You aren’t allowed to bring anything in to eat or drink, besides water. I understand that and can appreciate that; however, if you aren’t going to allow it then please, please have a better answer to food than Riptide Café! My son and I waited in an uncovered line for close to an hour in the heat. One young girl fainted from standing in the sun for so long. Once I was inside, I was disgusted by the floors and flies. Again, I knew it would be crowded because it was summertime, but it seemed like they didn’t adequately plan for the crowd.
We also went to the batting cages which is a favorite pastime for my munchkin and I. Some of the cages weren’t working properly but every time I’ve been there the kids working are friendly and helpful.
I’ll definitely be back for more fun in the sun but will plan to eat elsewhere!

After writing management the nasty cop hasn’t bugged us or been seen! Management seemed to really be concerned about my issue and since writing them me and my kids have been back a gazillion times!!!
Clean, fun and I LOVE that there are so many diff cultures! Beautiful family place!!!

Expensive — cost too much for little that you get
Dirty — no maintenance, not kept up well, trash every where
No management to supervise quality of the park — a lot of bad language, harsh horseplay, littering…

WOW! 4.5 stars!

This is a cutesy micro version of a waterpark. From the road it doesn’t appear to be much but its a ton of fun! For $ 18 you get an all access wrist band which is really worth it if you intend on spending the whole day doing everything! (everything = swimming, putt putt, batting cages).
There is a huge wavepool where you can bob around on tubes, or try to swim against the ‘current’. There’s a baby pool, and a mini slide area that also has a ‘run under what seems to be giant sprinklers’ area. :) There are a few big kid slides but its too scary for me. Lines are not horrendous like what you’d expect at a real water park.
Also there were no lines or wait for a batting cage on Sunday. You get unlimited pitches with your $ 18 wristband.
The putt putt looked fun but we RAN OUT OF TIME. Its really close to home, and pretty affordable. $ 14 for waterpark $ 18 for all access.
Cons:
astro turf = really really hot. wear flip flops
parking can be a bit of a pain
little kids run around like mad, «where are your parents?!»
Lines for food can take 30 – 45 minutes. bah!
YOU CAN’T BRING IN YOUR OWN FOOD OR DRINK.
NOT EVEN WATER.

There is one tower with three long slides and a lower tower with two more straight slides. They also have areas for small children and a wave pool. The tubes are first come first serve so don’t expect to have one. For the $ 15 per entrance fee you also have access to the batting cages and mini-​golf course. Didn’t check those out but they looked nice.
Overall pretty good. Don’t go if you don’t like kids.

My doggies LOVE walking the trail at this park. Havent tried the Water Park or Batting Cages though.
The trail is never crowded when we go and there is always plenty of parking & empty picnic tables.

Like Jenn H before me, I have never used the water park or batting cages either. I use the park to do my running from. There is a nice trail along the water, that goes under Duke, and when you reach Van Dorn, you can cross over and then continue under the bridge and run along the tunnels and then it pops out about a ¼ mile later on another nice trail.
I might try the water park later, but for now I will stick with the running trails.

This was a fun place to go.
I was concerned about crowds because I went on a Saturday in August when the weather was perfect. But the crowds were not as bad as I expected. There were plenty of available parking spaces. I got a beach chair right away, and lines were not too bad for anything.
There is a giant wave pool. It is on for 10 minutes than off for 10 minutes. I went to the deep end, which was not as crowded as the shallow end. There were plenty of water tubes to use.
I went on the giant slides. They each had lines of about 5 minutes.
I also went in the various waterfall pools.
Mostly, I laid around. It was tough to find a spot in the shade because of the people. There was plenty of food and it was pretty inexpensive. I had chicken fingers and fries, which are like you would expect them to be, and I had the Dippin Dots ice cream. I brought a bottle of my own water into the park, and nobody checked my bag or stopped me.
The park was smaller than I expected, but it was a fun way to spend the day for the $ 15 entry fee. It was great to be in the water, and to do it so close to DC. Had I picked a day other than a gorgeous weekend day, I imagine the crowds would have been far smaller.
I would return.
